First time visiting the El Trompo in West Chester last evening. EVERYTHING was wonderful! I had the Fajitas Texanas, a mixed meat version, and my husband had a burrito with lobster in a pineapple sauce. I am usually not a fan of sweet sauces but this was GREAT! Service was also very good and management is on hand to make certain customers are completely satisfied which, we most certainly were. We'll be back soon. read more

Did not appreciate the waitress. After my husband finished his food I received my warm soup that I had ordered. Just ruined dinner and mood.

I always love to eat the chips and salsa at Mexican restaurants but I took one bite of a chip and it was stale and rancid. The server brought another basket out even though we hadn't eaten any and they were warm but the same. The taco I order was just okay and the enchilada way too salty. They lose another star for having Fox News on, I don't got to establishments that support fake news. This review would have still been bad because of the food. read more

Blech. It's been around for a few years and I finally gave it a whirl. Great interior, it looks fun and has high energy. I won't gripe about the service as everyone is short handed these days. (it was terrible) I had cold cheese dip, stale, broken chips and watered down tomato sauce they called salsa. The torta was mostly bread, with a hint of ingredients. I almost saw a piece of asada, and at one point I thought I tasted spices. (I was mistaken) The place was packed, presumably with people who didn't know how crappy it is. Really loud and I mean so loud you can not hear your conversation. The fajitas were ok, the meat was somewhat burnt. The chips were stale.

This is one of my new favorite places. The tequila selection is great. I tried the Tres generaciones and the margarita texana. The margarita flavor was nicely balanced and not too sweet. We ordered from the del mar menu section. Our meals were delicious, not overly salty and they were massive. Service was fast and friendly. I'd post a pic of the food, but ate it too fast before thinking of posting. They have a nice vegetarian selection as well. Could not stop eating. read more

We ordered the flaming cheese fajitas with chicken steak onions zucchini and poblano peppers. Excellent!! Also the Jamie's veggie burrito. It was delicious. Covered in a cheese sauce that was super tasty! Also the fish tacos. Brightly colored and flavors balanced well. Excellent meal! Server was good too. Manager was friendly and welcoming. read more

Comparing this experience with the many Mexican restaurants I've been too I'll be honest on this Mother's Day. It was mediocre today. I would come back again to compare the two visits because there is potential. The ease of getting in and seated on the busiest restaurant day of the year was amazingly simple. We came at just the right time. There was a large party of 12 when we first got there who took the attention of the servers. Aside from the initial greet we had to flag down our own refills, table utensils, and condiments. The food came out to the table with good presentation and very quickly but the meat was on the chill side on the street tacos so not fully heated through and the flour tortilla on the burrito my husband ordered was a bit dry. I'd rather wait for food cooked to order rather than have the food precooked and out to the table in Minutes. It would have been well worth any wait. The star of the show for me was the lava cake and ice cream and the freshly brewed coffee I watched them make just for us! Yeah! Happy Mother's Day to me! read more

We were excited to try this restaurant and expected great things. The restaurant itself looks new and tastefully done. Ordered takeout on a Thursday night and the order was ready before the promised 15 minutes. I presented a coupon when paying and was told coupons are for dine in only. I tried some chips in the car and they were not good, so stale. When we arrived home, we found all the tacos on flour tortillas.... Rice and beans were decent, but not good enough to return. I was really hoping this new restaurant would be unique, special and that the food was an improvement over the typical commercialized Mexican food. It wasn't. We had the carnitas which was a bit too fatty and pretty bland tasting. Also had the roasted half chicken. White meat was very dry. Salsas we're ok but chips seemed store bought and a bit stale. Tortillas were also store bought and not flavorful at all. I hope they take this as constructive and improve the food quality. Service was very good btw. read more

This was my first time and it was excellent. It's so hard to find good Mexican food. This place has heat and flavor. We loved the mini chalupas and taco platter, which came with a fried jalapeño . Guac was great and had the flavor you'd expect; usually when I get guac at a Mexican restaurant around here it's bland. Very tasty and so happy to have a place close to home. read more

Born and raised in Southern California- I have a hard time finding Mexican food I like outside of the Southwest. El Trompo is definitely the best Mexican I've had since moving to Ohio. They style is a little different than I'm used to, but is still very good! I was promised a coupon for a free appetizer worth up to $8 if I signed up for their rewards program, yet while paying, I was told that the coupon was not able to be reimbursed for carry out orders. I was extremely disappointed, as both on the online coupon and during my call for the order no indication was given that this was the case. I asked him for the $8 to be removed from my order, to which he agreed. Once I paid, I realized that the $8 remained on my bill. I also found that the wrong type of tortillas in the bag. The food was okay, just disappointing service. They must remedy their coupon and takeout processes, as well as their customer service. Nothing offered was different than any other Mexican restaurants in town, yet at other places, I have not encountered customer service and takeout issues. Will never return. Prefer El Vaquero, El Caporal, or El Rancho Grande. read more

Food is fine but nothing that stands out with the taste. I have been here a few times to try it. A decent amount of meals don't come with rice or beans where if you went to another Mexican restaurant it would. The latest time I visited, I asked the waitress 4 times for drink re-fills and more salsa when it was not busy; she failed to deliver. Great food. Nice people. Great service. We were in town for a lacrosse tournament and needed a place to eat after a late game. We tried a place down the road and that was a mistake. So we left and called El Trompo to see if they could seat us. When we got there, they were going to move some tables around outside to seat our party of 6, but then an inside table opened up. Despite being super busy, the whole staff was friendly and helpful. And the food? Excellent. Every member of our group was happy with their meals. Lastly, good value for the money. Hands down best traditional Mexican food. This is not your typical "traditional" microwaved food. This was fresh ingredients and extremely flavorful. We are from out-of-town and wish we could take them home!!! Service was outstanding. read more
