Visiting this area from San Diego and didn't think I would find a place that was as good as San Diego. This place truly impressed me! Having been to Mexico many times, this place truly felt like we were there again. The staff were wonderful, the atmosphere was lively, and the food was outstanding and authentic. I had the birria nachos and it was perhaps better than most places in San Diego. Absolutely a gem in the community. I highly recommend a visit. read more

El Trompo - Mexican Near Me - Mason, Ohio

Our party of 4 visited El Trompo this past Mother's Day for dinner. The noise inside was almost painful - a band playing at mucho decibels and a robot prancing down the aisle with his own music. It was impossible to hold a conversation. The waitress got my wife the wrong margarita. The food was just ok - my taco combo was skimpy on the protein. All in all, not what it was Tromped up to be. read more

At the beginning of June my family of 9 went to this restaurant and it was amazing! Don't let the location (strip mall) detour you. The waitress was great and helped with making selections. My entire family liked their meals and are still talking about this restaurant. My suggestion is to spend the extra money on the upgraded margarita, the server recommended and some didn't and regretted it. My husband special ordered the Alabre with combo of meat and loved it. So much food, huge portions! Other suggestion is get the flan! My husband and daughter got it to go and said it was the best flan they have ever had. If this place weren't 2.5 hours away we would eat here all the time and will visit again when in the area. Thanks for the great meal!!! read more

Guacamole is not consistent. Whole avocado. My guac at this location was soupy and almost white. They re-made but still not good. At least they didn't charge me for it. Key is to order guacamole fresco. That is whole avocado and mixing. Fresco is much better and was comped another drink. At least they know the lever to pull. This is two star review until it was resolved. read more

We're in town visiting Great Wolf Lodge so we wanted to try a place we can't get back home. We were not disappointed! The Mini Taco Sampler was amazing. The selection they have is a telltale sign of quality so I was excited looking over their menu. I had high hopes coming in and they were not only met, but exceeded. I wish we didn't live so far away! read more

Not the average. Amazing food and huge selections. Just a night stop while traveling, on 71 but the food was amazing. Worth the stop

The food, service and ambiance was exactly what the reviews said. I stopped here on my way to the outlet, to get some work done. I sat outside. Very peaceful. The music wasn't too loud especially considering youre right next to a busy road. I eat a lot of Mexican and this place was fire. They're fajita nachos are definitely top 3. The steak and chicken is literally sliced in chunks and char grilled. You can taste the char on the veggies too. Fire!! The icing on the cake is the presentation when ordering a margarita with dry ice. Good job El Trompo. Definitely coming back. read more

Authentic al pastor tacos, great service! Tacos al pastor are my favorite, super flavorful meat. Fresh ingredients. Get a side of guac so you can put it on top of your tacos - it is yums!!! Wish they would fry the tortilla to make it more sturdy haha, but overall excellent. read more

Packed with flavor! This place was so good and filling! Plenty of selections on the menu. I ordered the Tacos Doblados and every bite was crisp and delicious. The guac, tomato and sour cream made it even better and the beans were so flavorful and had some kick to them. My husband got the burger "La Matador" and it was huge and filled with shrimp and they put a sparkler on it so it was literally on fire when it came out. Great Mexican restaurant! read more

Margaritas were fantastic and the wait staff was awesome! The birria menu items are not that great and I wouldn't ever order them again. The food is normally really good here though. read more

Where to begin here.... The good- service was good and the food was out fast. If you like blander food this is for you. The bad-This is just average at best. Very bland food, little spice and their quesadilla feels like a large taco. Not a place id return to. read more

We loved getting to visit this restaurant! There were SO many different options for food that I had never tried or seen before. Our server was super helpful and attentive, and the manager even came over to check on us at one point. I absolutely adored the atmosphere they had going on as well. The place is very well decorated and super comfortable. The margaritas were delicious, and the food was yummy, hot, and fresh! My only negative point is that the chips could've been fresher, but the queso was so good we almost didn't even notice! If we didn't live 4 hours away we would be visiting regularly!! read more

Food is very fresh, waiter was polite and timely. I had a shrimp dish with rice and vegetables. Tasty! E also tried a bereits which was large and had great flavor. The show stopper though was the appetizer called Asada Fries. Steak, cheese, fries, their own sauce and more cheeses, absolutely fantastic! We came here for dinner while visiting from out of town and were amazed by the quality and selection of food. The portions were large, the food was flavorful, and there were many toppings, sauces, and sides to try along with our entrees. I had the quesobirria and enjoyed every bite- the frijoles charros were absolutely delicious along with it. The service was also very friendly and quick. My family and I all enjoyed our dining experience. read more

Excellent service. Patricia was an amazing server and helped me and my friend with everything we needed. food was fresh and excellent.

Interesting decor very day of the dead themed. The staff was pretty attentive and the food didn't take too long to come out. I had Jaime's burrito and he had a curved tortilla thing that I forgot the name of, but he said it was sweet with mangos and really good. My burrito was completely covered in la bamba sauce and there was no wifi so I couldn't look it up, turns out it is spicy so that was my mistake as I'm not big on spicy. Luckily he refilled my water. The food was very generous serving sizes. There are a few tvs you can watch depending on your location to help pass the wait. It was decently busy and on the louder side. It's located over by UDF, but across the alley as part of the strip. The two of us was a total of about $30 before tip. read more

Solid food with a better than expected interior. I honestly wasn't expecting too much with how this seem to be just like a franchise built in newly constructed shopping centers. I have to say that the experience was pretty good and the food was not bad at all. The photos will tell you pretty much all you need to know but I would definitely go back to this place if there wasn't some thing more appealing in the area. I really liked how the restroom had a mouthwash dispenser, it was pretty nifty. read more

Enjoyed every aspect of my experience at El Trompo. The service was wonderful, we were greeted and seated immediately. The host and our server were very friendly and attentive. The restaurant is very clean and has outdoor seating. It has a festive sports bar feel on the inside and a beautiful pergola covering the alfresco dining area. The food is amazing. It is authentic and flavorful. You get allot of food for the price. Would definitely go back. read more

Mixed feelings. Yes, what we ordered was good, but it was not spicy based on the menu description as having a mango pineapple habanero sauce. I think I will stick with the street tacos or torta if we go back. Plus, it was loud and hard to hear our waitress who spoke softly. read more
