This is a cute little mom n pop shop with a few tables inside. The staff are all friendly and helpful. I tried their tacos and menudo for the first time. Everything was flavorful and fresh. Their chips and salsa is also actually fire haha. Would visit again!

We came to visit this spot for the first time ever a few months ago and wow. Just WOW. Everything we had was SO delicious. You can go get Mexican food from anywhere in So Cal but this spot is special. We ordered menudo, machaca burrito, and a chile relleno. I highly recommend everything. Also to mention they make their tortillas in the restaurant which is a huge plus. Everyone was so welcoming when it came to service as well. If you want good homemade authentic Mexican food, you need to run over here ASAP. Hands down best Mexican food in the IE!

I am so sad that I have slept on this place for so long! I've lived in the area for 7+yrs but my go to has been Habaneros, (which I still highly recommend) but we finally decided to give El Trigo a try and holy crap was it delicious! Between my husband and I we got the pollo, chicharron, pastor,l and chorizo tacos. All were delicious but the chicharron was SO good we both ordered more to go A big plus as well was the price, eating out can really hurt the wallet these days but we got 10 tacos for $30, for as delicious as they were that made us very happy! Can't wait to go back, maybe to try breakfast next!

Hole in the wall shop with delicious soup. I try to come here once a month now just for their soups. Order their corn tortillas not their flour tortillas as they make the corn tortillas in house!

We went to Riverside for a night, woke up wanting menudo and we found this place. The menudo was next level idk how they make the broth but it was delicious, it was fn good.

Today we celebrated my fathers 91st birthday. It was our first time visiting EL Trigo. We came because of the handmade tortillas that my father loves because they remind him of his childhood. The food was delicious and the staff were so kind. They even got my dad a birthday concha and played las mańanitas for him. We will definitely be re-visiting. The food and the staff were awesome.

Even though it has been several years since my last visit after moving out to Palm Desert, coming back reminded me why this place is so special. Dean, the owner, greeted me personally, and just as always, the service was top-notch from start to finish. You can't beat those fresh, warm tortillas right off the tortilla press--absolutely divine! Pair that with their incredible, fresh Southwest flavor and the absolute best salsa in all of the IE and OC. And of course, the margaritas are still just as good as I remembered! We came in to celebrate my big sister's birthday, as Riverside was the perfect halfway point for everyone. Even with a party of 10, the entire staff handled our group flawlessly and made us feel so welcome. Thank you, Anchos, for continuing to deliver amazing food and hospitality after all these years. I guess with the theme of "homemade tortillas" they use them for everything including chips. Tacos hard shell, taste more like "flautas". Drinks are way "overpriced" for the size. But I'm glad we chose Ay Mi Pa for my friend's graduation celebration. We came around 6-7 PM on a Saturday and surprisingly there wasn't much of a dinner rush yet. The place is huge with lively music and definitely gives more bar/club vibes as the night goes on. The aguachile was really good and flavorful. We also tried the espresso martini, which was a little too bitter for me. I ordered the Spicy Soltera and they accidentally brought me a different drink first. They let me keep that one and still brought out the correct drink, which was nice of them. And wow... definitely one of the spiciest drinks I've ever had. But I can't really complain when "spicy" is literally in the name. We chose the Jefe Skillet. It's massive and could easily feed three people. All the meats were really flavorful, the guacamole was great, and even the complimentary chips and salsa were good. The rice and beans were pretty average, but everything else made up for it. Overall, great food, huge portions, and a really fun atmosphere for a celebration. 8.5/10

The food was tasty and my pumpkin spice horchata was SO good, but honestly, I wouldn't come here just for the food. You come for the atmosphere, the art installations, the randomness, and the whole experience. We had fun eating, wandering around, and perusing all the quirky art after. It made for such a fun date night! I could also totally see this being a big group spot to grab tacos and beers, hang out, and catch up. The patios have a full-on party vibe, and inside is casual, lively, and fun. Basically, come for the tacos, stay for the chaos.

Terrible customer service and a menu that doesn't explain their own rules…read more We ordered the potato tacos and asked if they could be made hard shell. The woman helping us immediately gave us attitude and said they "can't" do that because the potato tacos are premade. That explanation made even less sense once the food came out. My girlfriend's potato tacos were served flat/open, while my dad's meat tacos came out hot in hard shells. So they clearly have hard shells and are actively serving them--we were simply asking for potato instead of meat in one. And nowhere on the menu does it explain that this isn't possible. In fact, the menu specifically labels other items "2 SOFT TACOS" and "2 HARD SHELL TACOS," while the potato option simply says "2 TACOS." It doesn't say soft, doesn't say they're premade, and doesn't say hard shell isn't an option. If there's some legitimate kitchen reason they can't put potato in a hard shell, that's fine. Just explain it politely and put it on the menu. Instead, the woman acted like we were asking for something completely ridiculous and was unnecessarily rude about a very simple request. Customers shouldn't be expected to know your kitchen's unwritten rules and then get an attitude for asking a question your own menu doesn't answer. Fix the menu or fix the attitude. Preferably both. We definitely won't be coming back

We walked in on a bustling Friday afternoon and were instantly hit with good energy. The decor is vibrant, fun, and modern--bright colors, beautiful mural-painted walls, and marbled blue floors that have a coastal vibe. The menu had a great variety of both land and sea options, ranging from birria tacos and shrimp cocktails to fresh ceviche. Here is what we down. I ordered one shrimp taco and one fish taco. Husband ordered the fish taco plate, with well-seasoned rice and beans. Our meal hit the SPOT. The fish and shrimp were freshly fried to order in a delicious, crispy batter that wasn't overpowering the seafood. Also, they feature a green salsa packed with chunks of onion and jalapeño, alongside a traditional creamy fish taco sauce. That fish taco sauce is FIRE. It packs a much bigger spicy punch than the watered-down sauces you usually get at most restaurants, and it was delicious! If you are in the area, this is a must-stop. The batter-to-filling ratio was spot-on, with just the right amount of crunch without feeling heavy. And the fries deserve a shoutout too! Well-seasoned, golden, and crunchy without being greasy -- exactly how fries should be. The prices are pretty reasonable, especially for the portions. We got 6 fish tacos, 6 shrimp tacos, 1 carne asada burrito, 3 birria tacos, and 3 drinks for $84.54. Not bad at all! The atmosphere is very casual, and most of the staff work behind the counter. The tables could use a little more attention between customers, but nothing a few napkins and a quick wipe-down can't handle. If you're looking for fancy ambiance, this probably isn't the place. But if good food at a reasonable price is what matters, definitely give it a try. They also have daily lunch specials from $6.99-$8.99, which is a serious win these days.
