Service was okay but food left a lot to be desired. Not very flavorful. I ordered flautas which were rock hard. I needed a knife to cut them which I had to ask for as there was only a single fork and a paper napkin on the table. No salt, pepper or anything else either. I'm so happy we found this place in Klamath Falls. We recently moved here from DFW Texas and we haven't been able to find a Mexican restaurant that even comes close to what we could get in TX. On the first day of an approaching heat wave I rode my new KTM to Klamath Falls for lunch. This new restaurant relocated from Dorris. The empanada dish had three empanadas with lettuce, diced tomato and cheese on top. It didn't have a strong flavor; no jalapeño ingredients. The chips were good but the salsa was too watery.The staff are friendly and efficient. The matching chairs and tables look nice but aren't very practical. The chair backs are rounded--not easy to hang a coat over, and have large round bases, as do the tables. So if you move your chair close to the table, your feet are crunched between the bases of chair and table. There is amble parking. read more

Ordered the carne asada with the shrimp - so much food cooked to perfection! The carne asada was a bit thicker than I'm used to, still thinner than regular steak. Not a bad thing, though. Shrimp was tender - not chewy. Fresh chips and salsa, too. The waitress was attentive without being annoying. Not crowded at lunch time so I could enjoy and relax. Well place looks absolutely beautiful! Our server was nice and helpful, the menu is extensive but we immediately noticed it seemed pretty expensive. We got 2 regular margaritas (@$13.50 each) and we split the steak fajitas ($24). The fajitas looked and tasted good but the "steak" was very tough and chewy. It came with 3 homemade tortillas but they were kinda small and we needed 1 more. Overall was ok but we were disappointed in the fajitas and the expense. read more

This place is gem. It's freaking delicious!! Their menu has a good variety of traditional dishes. Portions are good sized. You can tell they put a lot of love into their food. The flavors and presentation are fantastic. Margaritas are delicious and potent. They are not serving the same dishes as everyone else in town. I had the barbacoa and that alone will make me a regular. It came with dipping broth that was so savory. Absolute perfection. My boyfriend had a Chile relleno. It was the biggest chili I have seen. Very flavorful and not greasy. The margaritas have great flavor and more of a real fruit taste. They pack a punch too. Service was very good. Prompt and attentive. Stopped by for lunch while here visiting family in Klamath and we cannot say enough about the food here. It is the freshest and best tasting Mexican food our family has ever had. I am originally from Southern California and we currently live in North Texas and nothing we've ever had even comes close to the flavor here. My husband travels and has tried every variation of Mexican food all over the country and you cannot find anything better than El Tio Chuy in our opinion. First time coming here and we will definitely return! We came in on a Friday evening and the 1st floor was packed. We went up to the 2nd floor and the waiters were very attentive. We really enjoyed our dinner. My husband had the chili relleno and I had empanadas. The chili relleno was excellent, one of the best he's ever had. The only thing to make it better would be to make adding shrimp or some other meat an option. My empanadas were also really good. I could tell they were handmade since the masa was not of totally equal thickness. I love masa so I don't mind when I get one a little thicker. It could have used a little more chicken, but it did have good flavor. I tried adding the chipotle sauce to it to get a little more heat, which I like. The sauce has some heat and a lot of garlic which added to the empanadas nicely. The prices were right in line with other places in the area at $40 for our two dinners and one beer. read more

It's nice to give positive reviews to new restaurants. Tonight we went to El Tio Chuy. Although few patrons were there when we arrived, it was pretty busy when we left. We were seated and attended by pleasant staff, and after chips and (a bit watery but still spicy) salsa, our order came rather quickly. Really good birria tacos and the best chili relleno I've had in a long time. This place is my current Mexican restaurant favorite in town, and I hope they do well while keeping high standards. Great food and service!! The food has a Guanajuato background. The El Tio Chuy with chicken was great, rice, chicken, garlic and habanero. Great spice and flavor. Another in our group had the carne asada enchiladas with rice and beans. Another had the sopes and a taco birria great flavor! Very good size portions.
