Our party of 6 had six different meals - everyone was very pleased! The salsa had actual flavor and the chips were nice and thick and crunchy. We needed a light dinner after a wine tasting. My friend that lives in the area took us to her favorite Mexican spot. Nice choice. It's a good old small town spot full of locals. The restaurant is divided into two dining areas. The front one has a small coffee shop in the corner for morning service. We all ordered from ala carte menu. We didn't need the rice and beans. My shrimp taco and shrimp enchilada were fresh and delicious. And very filling for $3.95 each. Plenty of street parking, the building is on a corner lot on the main street. Staff was great. Man. Coming from Arizona to Idaho, I didn't think we would find good Mexican food. I gotta say, El Tapatio has changed my thought on that. Great food! Great drinks, fantastic service. Yelp wants me to mention the Ambiance and I don't know much about ambiance, so I can't speak on that. I will say this place is worth stopping at for a bite. read more

We recently moved to Hagerman and were expecting to have trouble finding good Mexican food. We stumbled upon El Tapatio after we opened a new bank account next door. We LOVE this place. Lots of tables, good service and food has been consistently delicious. I am a huge fan of their carnitas plate with corn tortillas. Great flavor, big portions. We also request they 'hot' salsa with chips and usually request a bowl of hot beans. My husband has tried lots of dishes and all have been great. They close around the Christmas holidays for about a month and we were dying for those four weeks :) This is our favorite Mexican joint for sure !! read more

Great restaurant in a small town. We were passing through on our way to SLC and decided to stop here for lunch. There is plenty of seating inside and all the waitstaff were friendly and welcoming. I ordered the combo plate of cheese enchilada and chili relleno. It came with beans and rice and was very filling. The sauce was good as well. It can be hit or miss here. The chips and salsa are always good and free if you order an entree. But, their main dishes have varied for me and my wife. I ordered chicken chimichanga all four times I've been there, the first time it was great. The next two times the beans they used in the chimi were gross and ruined it for me. The fourth time I asked for whole beans and it was a lot better. It's worth a try. I'll probably end up going back here. read more
