The food wasn't good, I really hate giving a bad review and I rarely do, but the reasons for me doing so is because our stomachs are hurting really bad, and my kids are not feeling well, I'm not sure if it was the sauce but something was very off, we spent a lot of money but didn't finish, we threw everything away unfortunately, which was another disappointment because we had to waste... the sauce on the wet burritos also tasted like it was from a can, I have to say nothing was authentic, and food was cold, another thing that bothered me was the microwave, let's just say it was busy working and doing all the hard work. I hosted a baby shower at my job today to for two doctors and I wanted to order great tasting food that everyone would be pleased with. I ordered 4 Taco Trays, a small tray of refried beans and large trays of rice and potatoes. The food was very good and fresh and everyone enjoyed every bit of it. This place is bleh. Nothing worth going to Rodeo for. We ordered 2 wet carne asada burritos and a small quesadilla that came out to nearly $30. The meat was tender but the sauce on top of the burrito was very bland and tasted like pinto beans. They charge an additional $2.50 to make your burrito wet, not worth it. Also, their salsa has mango in it. They really should mention that on their menu for those that are allergic. The decor is old and the fabric seat cushions seem like they have never been cleaned. Pretty good for Mexican food. Nothing special, and not my favorite place to go. Boring looking restaurant, with a strange ambience. I guess it's a lot like actually being IN Mexico when I come here. Food is good, but a little too saucy (everything is drenched in the red sauce). So I go for regular/dry type stuff like taco's. I will probably continue to go once every 3 months or so, just because I live/work so close, but it's more of a filler place for lunch, instead of a Main Event! read more

El Sol used to be our go to place for Mexican food. The quality of the food and accuracy of their take out orders was why we would make the trip from Pinole. "No More" My wife just got back from picking up another take out order that was not what we ordered and poor quality at best. At least 5 of the last ten times we have ordered food from El Sol there have been errors in the orders. The last 2 times the orders we have placed ended up 2 of the 3 items were wrong. This time 2 of the orders were for chicken enchiladas and ended up being something that looked like ground beef. Tasted bad enough that I threw it in the trash instead of feeding it to the dog. I love El Sol, Rodeo. My favorite things are the chicken tacos and chips and salsa. I eat here at least once every other month. Best chicken tacos I have ever had. It is by far my favorite Mexican deli. I have been going there for over 12 years now. The service varies depending on the staff at hand but as it does in every place of business. I have been going to El Sol for 30 years. It is one of my favorite Mexican taqueria's, I have taken several friends there and they now go on a regular basis. The food is great, from the super burritos to the tortilla soup. The food is not over salted which you find in a lot of Mexican restaurants, I like this. Here's a nice looking, pleasant, and friendly place in Rodeo CA. Before, the sauce used to taste like Taco Bell's and the ground beef looks like it also came from Taco Bell.
