The waiter brought some "pastes", which are the traditional and typical dish in Pachuca, letting us know they are $13 each (less than a dollar). The adults ordered local dishes which are very well served and tasty, one of them being quite spicy if you're not used to hot dishes. "Dobladitas La Blanca" had no spice at all, so it's perfect if you want anon-spicy dish. "Enchiladas de la abuela" erre delicious if you like Chile! I would recommend it , it seems the menu is full of good stuff, there's a reason this is the city's oldest restaurant, they have good food and great prices!

We ordered "Festival de Chalupas" as entry, but Eggs with sauce were the best with recent hand-made tortillas. Some of the plates and glasses were chipped, but I guess they need to keep prices low and not adding more plates. Choosing the best pastes in the area may seem difficult, as the town is FULL of paste shops. However, the line forming outside of Pastes El Portal is telling. This is the oldest bakery making pastes in the traditional English fashion with both classic English and fun Mexican fillings. Pastes are made to order and are served piping hot! You know your product is good when people are walking out with huge boxes to take home to their friends and families. If ever in this quaint little town, Pastes El Portal is a MUST. Like out tour guide said "Si vienen a Real del Monte y no prueban los pastes, no vinieron a Real del Monte" (If you come to Real del Monte and you don't try the pastes, you didn't come to Real del Monte)!
