My dogs all 3 of them got giardia from this park! 100$ later it took 5 weeks for them to stop it passing backwards and forwards!!

Probably one of the worst dog parks on the west side of LA. There are 2 parks (one for small dogs & one for big dogs). The enclosed space is large and long so runners can run their hearts out. CONS: Rated it a 2 star because * the entire park is wet mud/sand and your dogs come out really dirty * no parking lot. Just free curb side parking that usually all taken up so you'll have to park in residential areas and walk across a busy street with no cross walk PROS: * there are pooper scoopers Not the worst dog park but still there are way nicer dog parks. read more

I have a small terrier mix and he loves coming to this park. It offers a large, long space that dogs can run around in. It's large enough that less social dogs can get their own space as well. Depending on the time of year, there is some grass on either side of the park but for the most part it's dirt. The dirt is inconvenient but it's probably the most sanitary option. The biggest downside are all the tree roots sticking out of the ground. Not a problem for dogs, but terrible tripping hazards for people. I do think the small dog side is better than the large dog side, the large dog side has significantly less tree coverage read more

It's just dirt! The people who go there seem to be there to socialize amongst themselves instead of taking care of their dogs. My Bulldog was bitten by a small dog and his cheeks were dripping blood when we left. I know that's not about the park per se but it's something dog owners would like to know before they come to this "dog park". The city doesn't do anything to improve the fenced in dirt area. The only thing that would make this a 5 is if they had turf or some type of grass instead of dirt. Beautiful weather always makes it nice to enjoy the park with the pup, nevertheless, it's a little disappointing when they can't run around without getting dust in their eyes. The Pros: the park has plenty of trees for shade, it's wide, and there is street parking. The Cons: it's a dirt floor so it can kick up dust. There were no small dogs in the small dog Park area. A note to ALL dog owners: If you are not cool with other dogs playing with your dog, don't bring your dog here. This dog park has two sides, one for small dogs and one for big dogs. There are shovels to pick up dog poop. Remember to please pick up after them. The are also water fountains, but they are under repairs, so bring your own bowl and water. The park is mostly dirt with sparse grassy areas. The dogs for the most part are very friendly and love to play around. I rarely see aggressive dogs, but if you have one, please keep a close eye on them. The owners... I never had an issue, until today. There was this orange husky who was humping other dogs. My brother's dog must have picked up the habit because he did that to another dog, and before I can say anything, this lady called me out to watch him. I apologized and took my brother's dog away for a bit to calm him down. Note: my dog is very playful, he plays with other dogs and approaches people to say hi. But, I never seen him hump other dogs. My brother comes in, gives him water, and lets him go, but follows him. The orange husky, in the meantime, humps other dogs, and yet that lady says nothing. Later, I saw my dog approach her dog and sniffs them, which is something dogs do. The lady shoves my dog away and shouts, "SEE, SEE!," as if my dog attacked her poor dog. Having gone to a dog park out here in Yucaipa reminded me of how I felt about this one in El Segundo when I lived out there, - it's not really much of a park, as there's no grass and dirty tennis balls lying around. Two, some of the people who frequented it didn't watch their dogs who were aggressive or got bothered that their dog was bothering yours. It was a young man who had a big French bull (not large but bulky) who kept bullying my small chihuahua. He got bothered that he had to keep yelling at his dog. Wow what a concept? Taking responsibility for your pet to some doesn't exist. The last item was some of the attitude from some people. Either too sensitive or too wired up with anxiety to be around other people with dogs. They couldn't have been locals, most of those people were always polite and showed common courtesy. Which brings me to Yucaipa- nice humongous grassy areas, clean water and toys and people who were minding their dogs sharing and caring. read more

This park is pretty large and gated ( loved that) there's a lot of dirt so if you're a pet parent that do not want your dog getting all dirty this isn't that place for you. But if you don't mind the hot mess then this is a perfect park! We first entered the little dog park area but my pup loves playing with the big boys so we transferred over to the larger dog area. My pup was welcomed needless to say. Every dog was interested in her. There's many different breeds so just like anywhere you go with your pup please be aware at what is going on. They're animals. Some are trained and some are not. Some are calm and some are wild so just always have an eye out! We went twice and our second experience was okay. It's mostly the owners not understanding the difference in playing and fighting. Plenty of free parking with different entrances. read more

This park is pretty big. I bring my dog almost daily, it's the best park for runners. It's big enough that if a dog is getting too riled up, we just go to a different end of the park and be just fine. It's mostly sand, so if you're too picky about getting dust in your car and dog, you might not like it. There's plenty of balls for your pup to play with. read more

Aggressive dogs have no place in dog parks. It's wild to me that so many people would say something like "if you have an aggressive dog, be sure to keep a close eye on him." What?! Aggressive dogs have NO PLACE in dog parks. This puts every dog, especially the aggressive one, in danger. It stresses every dog out, particularly the aggressive one. Work with an expert until your dog is no longer aggressive (which will probably take years), or dont take your dog to a DOG PARK, it's that simple. I've been taking my 7 year old husky mix. He's extremely friendly and actually breaks up fights between other dogs (and people!) when he sees them. Recently there was a person there with a husky and a probably 1 year old German shepherd. The German shepherd repeatedly got in my dog's face yapping, which my dog ignored entirely. The owner was clearly very uncomfortable and kept pulling her dog away. This was a major red flag and I should have just left. The dog continued to keep running up to my dog and yapping in his face, and my dog continued to ignore him entirely. My dog was playing with a toy and didn't care. When the owner came to pull her dog away a 5th time, she grabbed her own dog by the collar and, while she had him, he lunged at my dog, who was still completely ignoring them, and bit him in the face, hard. The person apologized, took both of her dogs to the other side of the park and then just... let them go?! As if they weren't just going to come running back over! Luckily we made it out before they reached us, and luckily my dog is strong and wasn't traumatized. My other dog would have been, and is. That's why I leave her at home. She can't handle these situations, she can become aggressive, so I dont take her to DOG PARKS where she will encounter DOGS. read more

There is a huge tree with huge protruding roots all around it. My pup was running around this tree, tripped and tumbled sustained many injuries from these roots. Please remove or cover them. Other that that, we love this park for its large size! read more

As the primary OL park near LAX and the neighboring communities this place has eroded over the past few years, which is disappointing. There is little to no grass at all, versus a few years back when the park seemed to be maintained better. Owners have become less concerned with picking up after their dogs as well (the far east side of the park has many landmines). To be fair, the park does have a ton of shade, which is nice on a hot day! That said, we bring our Husky here on the weekends. There are anywhere from 6-10 Huskies here every weekend from about 2-5 pm. It's a blast to see them all play together. If it were not for the Huskies (and watching the planes take off from LAX) we would find another park to visit. read more

This is an alright dog park. There are two parts, the big dog park and the small. I have only been to the small dog park. I usually go here after work only for the convience. Whenever I go, there are usually a few dogs here. There is never only one or two. The people here are usually okay. There are actually three kinds of people who come here. 1) People who keep an eye on their dogs and play with them 2) People who go to the nearby bench and just sit and watch their dogs and 3) People who bring their own portable chairs and sweaters and just sit in a circle and socialize, clueless to what their dogs do while they roam around. Many times when I attend, there is always that one problem dog. Once there was a territorial dog that would run to the gate and bark consistently at every new person entering the park. Another time there was a dog who was snapping and growling at the dogs who would come up to sniff it. Another time, there was a dog who actually tried to attack the owner's friend that was accompanying her. Instead of leaving the park, the two just went off into the far corner of the park to let the dog run around! ... But anyway, the dog park is not that bad. I'd give it a C. Also, the method used to pick up pet droppings in this park is a rake and a hoe. Also, i stopped by that nearby petwash. It seemed a little run down. I looked in from the outside and I did not even want to go in. read more

Great dog park with lots of shade. Friendly dogs and friendly people. It is a pretty large dog park, separated into one section for dogs under 30lbs and another section for dogs over 30lbs. Frequently patrolled by the El Segundo Animal Control to check licenses. Officer Black is very friendly. He will not ticket you (misdemeanor in El Segundo $1000) but will ask you to leave the park. Make sure your dog is licensed before you come. read more

This is my second trip to this dog park, grandpa brought me here after getting my nails trimmed yesterday, I'm very shy and like to play with one other dog at a time not 5 or six like happens at the Redondo Beach Dog. The area is small but there are also less dogs and it's farther from home so we don't come here as often. There are lots of nice big trees to lie under and relax. The other dogs are nice and the little dogs usually stay on their side of the park unlike Redondo where their Humans bring them over to the big dog side. When I can get my grandpa to drive me here then I will pick El Segundo Dog Park for my lounging and frolicking. Who likes this place more, the people or the dogs? We have been frequenting this park for over a year and consistently meet nice people and dogs. A few owners should be more meticulous about supervising and picking up after their flock, guess that the lackadaisical attitude has to do with being so relaxed in a comfortable park with bench seats. One of my favourite features is that that there is plenty of open areas for my sun loving dog while I can always catch shade if I have had too much of a good thing (imagine!) for my personal taste. Street parking is always in good supply. Not much grass here on the large dog side currently the small dog section offers a bit more. Overall, I'd speculate that the dogs are happiest here (they are not going to complain about dust or other people) but a few owners are content enough to frequent the place pretty heavily (always for the sake of the dogs, right?). Oh, a key point, this is a fully fenced in park with double gated entry and separate but adjacent large and small dog sections. read more

My dog and I love this park. It's pretty big with lots of room to run around. Trees, some grassy areas, a water fountain that doesn't really leak. Sure most of the grass has died but it's really hard to grow grass when there are hundreds of dog using the park everyday. I find the park attracts nice dogs and nice people. read more

This park is long, and my dog decided it was a runway on which he was to sprint back and forth. This was great for me, because that's exactly what I want him to do -- run, so that he can be somewhat tired and controllable when I get home. The ground is a mixture of dirt and sand, which I wasn't a fan of, since it got all over when he, of course, decided to plop down and roll around. Also, there's only one water source, and it's waaay at the end of the park. The people were friendly, and my dog got some good exercise, so I'm sure I'll frequent this park some more. read more

I love the fact that they separate the big dogs from the small even though some people dont listen sometimes. I bring my two dogs here and they love this park, they hardly get fleas here unlike two other parks that i have gone to. There is grass in some areas of the park but of cousre due to certain dogs digging there isnt much. What in hell happened to this wonderful dog park? It's been a couple years since I've been there but when I went the other day I was shocked. No or very little grass. The water fountains were non-operative and filthy. It is now worse than the Redondo Beach Dog Park. read more

I suppose if I lived near here, I would consider this area prime dog real estate for the LA area and I would be grateful. But, we were just visiting. Being near the highway was a good thing and it was easy to find with GPS' help. And Yelp. You will find yourself turning into an industrial looking area dotted with apartments. Street parking only and I can see it being hard to get if a busy day at the park. Sunday at 2pm (and hot out), there was only one other large dog in the yard. The small dog area had many more. I am glad I read the reviews prior that it was dusty and dirty as all get out. Changed into my dog park shoes and grabbed our ball... doggie was happy but she did get very dirty. I felt like I needed a shower after a half hour there as well as some eye drops! Maybe it is not possible but more grass in there would be amazing. Some cool, huge trees though provide some shade/relief. I still feel that for what is there, it is well maintained. There are fountains, water bowls, pooper scoopers and the park was clean other than the usual, few people that do not pick up after their pet. Happy for the find and the stop but will skip this one next time. TIP - no restroom here TIP - bring water bottles and towels to refresh yourself and/or dog before getting back into your vehice read more

I have been taking my dogs there for about three years now, I have never had an issue until today. I took my two dogs one 85 pound German Shepherd mix and one 30 pound schnauzer poodle mix. They were running around having a good time with themselves and other dogs, until a gray Weimaraner came in and mind you the owner wasn't even in the park, she was in her car. My dog and her dog got into it and I quickly went to grab my dog and she finally got out of her car. Then her and young man proceeded to tell me that my dog was being aggressive and we should leave the park, when my dogs have never had a problem before! I felt bullied and so uncomfortable that we ended up leaving. Although this park is 10 minutes from me, I will be finding another dog park in the future. Also this park has only a few patches of grass the rest is a dirt lot, there are much nicer parks in LA than this one. read more

I love this Dog Park because it is separated into two sections, one for small dogs and one for large dogs. I would frequent this park a few years ago since it was only a few blocks away from my home. It is decently maintained and has areas of dirt, grass, hills and trees. It would have been nice to have more grassy areas, but overall its a nice dog park. Everyone who frequents this location is friendly, but that pretty much goes for everyone who lives in El Segundo. I only wish my dog liked this park as much as I do. She is very anti social with other dogs and it is a waste of time to bring her because she just wants to be alone and explore the park without other dogs going near her. read more

It's not too crowded (although I personally love it when there are tons of dogs my pooch can play with-Mr. Social Butterfly Maverick would agree with me too) Parking is limited... ESPECIALLY on street cleaning days since all the residence from the apartments across the way need a place to park as well. Yes the place has very little grass and lots of dirt (but do you think your dog cares? NOPE!!!! they just want to play :) so get over it and take them to the groomer after better yet keep them indoors where they can stay clean and drive you nuts because you won't take them out to play since you're so concern of how dirty they may get) Yes there are aggressive dog... and shy dogs.... and hyper dogs... and playful dogs.... and dogs that love to wrestle.... dogs that love chill.... old dogs and young dogs... Guess what folks that's just the risk you are willing to take when you decide to come this park or any other dog park but bring a a toy for you to play with your dog just in case you don't trust your dog to be around any other dog with these "unknown symptoms/personalities" LOL seriously people just keep an eye on your pooch. The El Segundo dog park is a long, narrow park that has plenty of room to throw balls with your Chuckit while watching jets take off and land at LAX. The quality of the El Segundo dog park has dwindled over the years. Upkeep has been lax (lax - LAX, hah!) so the grass has been chewed down to the rock underneath. My pitbull tends to tear up her paws pretty badly because she has no off switch, even when her feet are bleeding. Pitbulls were bred partly for their pain tolerance, and it can be difficult to check her feet when all she wants is to PLEASE THROW THE BALL AGAIN! My greyhound can lap the whole park in five seconds, but that has more to do with the fact she's an ex-racing greyhound than the size of the park. Weekends are more busy than weekends, obviously, and your pooch doesn't need to have an El Segundo dog license to enjoy the park. Clean up after your dog, and visit the doggie wash (whose name escapes me - review coming) just down the street afterwards. read more

My girlfriend and I are new proud parents of a beautiful little princess. This is our first dog and we love her. Our princess loves this dog park. She has not gone to any others but no real reason to. This dog park separates the large from the small with a gated fence. The small dog area where our princess plays is extremely large and allows the dogs to run and play. The dog park offers a dog staging area to allow your dog to be unleashed in a gated area but away from other dogs that will be very interested when your dog shows up. The dog park has a supply of water for parents to use but my girlfriend and I bring a bowl and fresh water of our own. The dog park has it's regulars set of parents who socialize on a daily basis. The same goes with the dogs themselves, they have there regulars as well. Lots of chair & benches to sit down and enjoy watching your dog have so much fun. I love watching our princess run and frolic with other dogs. She has such a happy face when she is running with the wind blowing. The dog park is located on the hill overlooking LAX. The dog park is located very close to the Ocean and lots of cool breezes rolling through so even if it is sunny out bring a jacket just in case. The proud parents at this dog park are very good at cleaning up after there dog so please follow suit. The dog park is always accepting new lawn furniture so if you have some drop by and drop it off. If you donate it you can write your dogs name on the back which is kinda of cool. The dog park has a lost/found section & a billboard for dog related flyer's. I clicked not sure if it good for kids. I understand kids love there dog but they tend to get in the way of all the other dogs. 95% of the dog at this dog park are rescue animals and very skittish around adults who don't try and touch them let alone kids who want to chase them. Do us a favor as a parent and if you are bringing your children watch them like you are watching your dog. read more

I had pretty low expectations of this Dog Park, and they were destroyed almost instantly. The small dog area is HUGE. Our dog runs from end to end until she is exhausted, and loves every second of it. The area is large enough that on my first visit, I didn't realize that it had a water station for the dogs (thought this was its only detriment, but found it on my second visit). There are lots of trees and shade. The ground is dirt/sand and grass, so the dogs don't get crazy dirty (but a little bit). It's right next to the City of El Segundo and LAX. There is a lookout spot where people hang out to watch the planes land very close to the dog park. There is plenty of street parking. read more

Yelp - the address is wrong. I enjoy this dog park for many reasons. It's a decent park, less grass, more dirt - but both small dog and big dog parks have a great amount of space for the pups to run, play and hang in the shade. There are benches for people to sit on, but not enough. I love being right by LAX and hearing, seeing the planes take off. The dog bowls and water areas aren't the greatest, so bring your own if you can. All the parking is street side, so I wish you the best of luck, especially if you go on the weekend. read more

The El Segundo Dog park is a smaller, more intimate version of the one in Redondo Beach. But much better mannered dogs (and humans). Two sections (dogs less than 30 lbs, and dogs over 30 lbs) keeps the dogs separated, and generally happy. I would have given it 5 stars, but agree the grass has been warn away from it. But for a free dog park run by a city ... a nice respite for the pooch. read more
