We've been dropping into Dog Ppl on and off since 2024 but living in Silver Lake makes the full-time membership a bit of a stretch with the commute but it's always worth the trip. The dogs absolutely adore it here. The newly expanded outdoor space is a standout, and it looks like the kitchen has leveled up as well. There's also a new indoor lounge we haven't explored yet, but from what we've seen, it has real potential. read more

TLDR: theft/unhelpful staff/snobby members I was excited to find a dog park that had turf rather than wood chips as the latter always ends up getting my dog quite dirty after one visit. With regular activities for the owners as well this place seemed like a cool concept that would be worth the $120/mo membership fee. Unfortunately the experience turned sour after a few months. I've always known that "membership' clubs like this always draw the most obnoxious clientele who crave the need to feel better than others, but I wasn't there to network. What I didn't consider is how self centered these kinds of people would be when responding to their dogs' provocations. On multiple occasions there would be dogs that would provoke my dog who was minding his own business. Naturally my dog responded with equal aggression. But for some reason my dog would be the one who was reprimanded. Eventually it got to the point where I had to be constantly on guard and watching exactly what was happening to build a case against other dogs. What put the nail in the coffin for this place is the theft. They try to make this a place that seems upscale and community focused but that was not the reality. They have hooks by the entrance where people hang their leashes. I did this as well until my leash was stolen. I figured it was a mistake that would be recognized and rectified. The staff were not helpful at all when I raised this issue. I had to follow up with them four times before they begrudgingly tried to find a resolution - which was to offer me a cheap leash as a replacement. Combine the theft with the terrible staff who seem annoyed to even be working there and you can probably imagine why this place isn't all it's chalked up to be. It's indeed unfortunate that this was my experience but I understand that there are places that just don't align with my vibe. I'm still happy I gave it a shot as im sure I'd always have had a bit of curiosity around this place if I hadn't. read more

Membership canceled after almost 2 years. Your dog is not safe here. Dog PPL serves alcohol in open cups and people often spill their alcohol around the park. No one cleans up the alcohol, so dogs are getting buzzed. People often leave their alcohol unattended on low side tables where dogs can get into their drink. My dog got into incidents at the park because of all the irresponsible alcohol serving and drinking. Dog PPL blamed my dog's temperament for the incidents and canceled our membership. Back when I signed up, they only had a coffee bar. Now, they have a liquor license and sloppy safety standards around dogs drinking alcohol. Dog PPL also has entitled members who yell and accost the employees as well as other members. If you report human aggression, they reply saying that they will monitor and wait for repeat offenses. Several dog park friends have told me stories of them getting yelled at by other members...and the park's response has always been "that's for you to deal with". A member's dog was stalking and trying to hump my dog. My dog gave a fierce correction warning him to back off. He wouldn't get the message. I had to hold him by the collar and gently walk him away to create space from my dog. The owner started yelling at me saying that he's never humped and tried to kick me out of the park. I asked the rufferee/employee to review the security camera footage. He confirmed that I was correct and calmly explained to the other owner that I did nothing wrong. She ended up leaving the park early and didn't have the integrity to conclude the issue with me. And yes, she was drinking beer. She complained that I was ruining her enjoyment of her beer. The employees have told me that members yell at them all the time. Management does nothing to protect and defend their awesome rufferees, so the staff turnover is high. Rufferees typically only stay a few months because members yell at them, supervisors do not support them, and the rufferees have to pick up dog shit all day with zero gratitude from the members. To summarize: - they serve alcohol in wide open cups - they do NOT clean up spills - dogs drink alcohol - buzzed dogs get into incidents - they blame dogs temperament and cancel your membership - buzzed humans accost and disrespect other members as well as staff - safety and community teams respond that they'll wait for more incidents of human aggression Most of the people are awesome. But the administrative team holds on to the disrespectful people and sends you an email that after 2 years of membership, your dog's temperament is not suitable for their park. Again, your dog is not safe here. read more

I absolutely LOVED this place. I work from home and sometimes do not see humans for long periods of time so this was perfect for me and my dog. Unfortunately, my dog went after an 8 month unfixed large shepherd and after they viewed the camera footage, they decided to ask me to leave. So here is the thing, my dog is not vicious. He just does not like unfixed dogs and I stay away from regular dog parks. All the daycares I know have a limit of 6 months and then they must fix the dogs if they want to return. This whole situation was very upsetting. That said, aside from that, people are all on their phones and their devices not even looking after their dogs safety. They allow food that they sell there and even if they make you eat at the higher tables, there could be problems with dogs and crumbs. They also serve wine and beer. Now that little perk is a huge red flag for me because we all know are guard is let down when drinking. I am a very very responsible person and it would have been so great if they gave me one more chance. I loved all the staff and me and my dog were so happy. All I want to say again is if your dog is not into dogs unfixed, beware. I would have loved a second chance even with restrictions. For example, coming only at slow times. Disclaimer: I'm not a dog owner (at least not yet), but I would consider myself a dog auntie, dog enthusiast, vicarious dog owner, or some version of those. I went to Dog PPL with my good friend who is in fact a dog owner and has membership here for her oh-so-adorable little rescue dog. I absolutely love the concept of this place. It's a well-maintained, spacious and safe outdoor gated dog park or club-like community for vetted dogs and their owners to hang out. There's an application process and conditions that have to be met before membership is allowed. The venue is very clean with turf throughout for the dogs to run freely and socialize (I guess that statement could be applied to the humans as well lol). There are lots of lawn chairs, lounge chairs, high and low tables for people to sit and relax, read a book, get some work done, or just chat. There's a concession stand where they sell snacks, beverages (including alcohol), and doggie treats. From what I understand, they also have various scheduled social events and activities for both the dogs and their owners. They even have staff members, aka "Rufferees," who maintain order in case any of the dogs get a little too rowdy. Definitely a place to consider if you have a dog and want a nice happy doggie community for them. read more

Owner of the most affectionate, loving, friendly, curious Maltipoo you ever did meet. My little guy, KNOWS he is a dog. We are for certain an interspecies household - as eye roll-y & silly as that sounds- it's true. My dog is 100% aware he is NOT human and it really becomes apparent when he sees another DOG specifically, some sort of doodle. He cries, whines & pleads to run up to said other dog. Which is great but also NOT when said other dog wants to kill, eat or attack him. He could've just left the dog park but if he sees those curls, he goes bananas. He is also 1000% beta. Not a bit of alpha in my boy except he'd be big man on campus if he were human because he is so social. And there in lies the problem. Which shouldn't be a problem but is. There are a ton of unfriendly dogs in the world and many completely clueless, careless or spiteful humans. I'm not sure which quality prevails in humans but I list all 3 because I've been hiking with my dog leashed, encountered another dog & asked, is your dog friendly? Only to have that dog charge my dog growling, attempting to bite & the owner walking away laughing. So yes. In this world we live in with no common courtesy or decency, I love to know Dog PPL exists. Huge shout out to Dog PPL! I had our dog park haunts DOWN. Knew the ones I liked, and the ones where people would bring their large, aggressive breeds still unneutered - which spells danger for my fluff toy looking dog. Yet, on a recent visit to his favorite park where he would prance, frolick, skip, and sniff - no that is not an exaggeration. My dog prances. He was attacked because a stupid human owner brought a dog to the park and clearly it was a rescue which is fine but once it started showing significant signs of aggression she didn't intervene and my dog was again attacked. Thankfully no blood but he no longer feels safe there. Which is super sad. He did nothing wrong. So when I learned of dog people with their ruferees, and all of their amenities I was so excited to try it. Plus they just opened a little dog section which made me feel extra warm & fuzzy. We went and let me just say, it did not disappoint. At all. My dog ended up playing with a too big for him puppy, golden retriever, who started showing signs of aggression with a not in site owner - my husband and I were about to pick up our dog but before it could escalate any further at all, the ruferees were on both dogs like white on rice. They scooped up the golden gingerly and gave him a good belly rub to calm down. I was thinking, YES ! Heavens sent. Thank you! My dog is not aggressive and will run and cower in lieu of fighting back so being always vigilant is required but there's also only so much I can do - and I have had to pick him up while dealing with other dogs trying to bite me to get to him and it's not pleasant and is dangerous. Having another set of eyes on the other dog is such a help!! And again- this situation was diffused before it could even get close to escalating!!! That's what I love. They are PROACTIVE! They are watchful, they are attentive, they are aware - even when the owner isn't. And the owners here actually care about their dogs being properly socialized. And they know their dogs are socialized or they wouldn't pay the membership fee. All dogs here must be neutered or spayed - no exceptions. And each dog gets a temperament test like a kennel. All dog owners must remain on premises with their dog which is another win. It's a subscription dog park. A pay to play but you are paying to be with other dogs that are cared for and loved by people who want their dogs to play with other dogs that are cared for and loved and socialized! With the added benefit of supervision. I love the model and I loved our experience. I feel safe bringing my 14 pounder here - for both of us. Thank you Dog PPL. I understand the hype behind DOG PPL in Santa Monica. I like that they have turf and it felt extremely clean. I do wonder if it's going to get too hot for the dogs paws on the turf in the summer, but hopefully DOG PPL gets some of the large tan sails that can be put up when it gets hotter out given that the umbrellas were pretty scarce and my dog Olaf seemed to enjoy it best under the shade of the table once it started warming up. They have multiple water bowl refill stations, and they even put out a DOG PPL pool for the dogs to play in. DOG PPL is a great place to hang out while your dog plays. They have different seating options for humans, and it's a great vibe overall. For parking, they validate so that the first 90 minutes are free, but if you're planning on being there longer than 90 minutes you might want to find parking in the neighborhood nearby as it became quite pricey being there for 2 hours. Their lattes start at $6, pistachio milk is +$1, and they automatically include a service charge of 18% and sales tax of 10.25%. read more

We love dogppl! From the various member mingles and events to the incredible staff, we cannot recommend dogppl enough. Our dog mainly likes to sit next to us at the park rather than play with other dogs but since we live in an apartment, it's nice to get all of us outside for a couple hours a day. We say it's sometimes for more us than our dog. My partner and I also like to work remote during the week from dogppl which is extremely convenient. We also love the coffee/espresso bar options as well as the convenient food. The staff provides truly everything you need including poop bags, hand sanitizer, sunscreen (both for dogs & humans), tons of shade for when it's sunny, blankets for when it's cold, and so much more. So cute. Heaven on earth. DOG PPL is a dog park meets social club meets outdoor bar. Dogs need to pay for membership but humans enter for free. This is fantastic for extroverted, social dogs. For any situations where dogs get into it, the rufferees are there to break up the situation. They host the cutest events (snow day, trivia night, yoga class). They also have a bar for drinks and coffee, kitchen where you can order food for the park, and bathrooms. Parking is free in the lot for 90 minutes, validated. We did their 2 week free trial and were really bummed that our introverted dog didn't like it and was overstimulated. We considered coming without here, but relaxing next to poop isn't really a vibe. (When the park gets really busy, sometimes owners don't notice the poop and it takes a while for the rufferees to spot it.) read more

Since joining dog ppl I do not go to any other dog park. I go about 4-7 times a week! I have friends that also go twice a day everyday. There are some great rufferees (Keitel, Stephanie, Ellis, Carol, Christian and others!) and are great at keeping an eye out on the dogs, they seem to really care! They do have a lot of cool events but it can get crowded. I have made some great friends and my dog has become attached to her little doodle gang too! Also want to shoutout the people who work at the office who are so kind. Parking is plenty, just remember to validate at the front desk so you can park for free for 90 minutes. This is a great safe and clean place to let my dog run around off leash. The rufferees are super friendly and quick to break up any intense chase scenes or ruff play. The food and drinks are a nice option to have there since you can't bring in your own. Wish the membership came with like 2 free drinks a month or something. The free events are fun and really makes it social for the humans too. Parking has been always easy. Morning to night this place is happy and fun. This would do SO well in Silverlake, Frogtown or Glendale. So many dogs with nowhere safe to go, and I know dog owners would be happy to pay for the membership. My pup can't wait to go back! Love this place! We've been members since almost the very beginning, and it's been great to see how the owners/management put member feedback into action. The newer/bigger location is great - super open with a ton of parking. I've noticed newer seating and bigger sun umbrellas this summer, which are awesome. The rufferees are quick to respond when dogs are getting too excited/becoming agitated. They've also been super helpful to me a few times in understanding my own dog's behavior. They also all seem to know my dog by name, and remember her from visit to visit. This is really nice . They do a good job of monitoring vaccine dates, and will remind you of any expiring vaccines starting about a month in advance when you visit the park. They put out kiddie pools/splash pads on summer days, which my dog absolutely loves. Their events are 10/10 and so much fun for the humans! They do get very crowded on special event days, so it can be challenging to watch your dog during these times and might be a bit much if your dog gets overwhelmed in crowds. But this is maybe 2X per year. On a normal day it's not really ever too crowded. People who bring their dogs here also really care about their pets and typically are paying closer attention to them than at public parks. So any behavioral issues are usually sorted out pretty quickly between owners and the rufferees. Unlike public dog parks, where people aren't paying attention and (in my experience) try to pass off their dogs' aggressive behavior as playing. All in all - worth every penny. It's like having a super fun backyard in LA for me and my dog to kick it in. My only ask is that they bring back the full food menu! I really miss that breakfast burrito! read more

I'll admit that I wasn't sure what to think of this place at first and I got completely suckered in by their 2 week free trial. I have a 5 month old puppy who is obsessed with other dogs and if I had unlimited money, he would go to daycare 7 days a week. However, he has gotten attacked twice at city dog parks and I started to become wary as he would often be picked on and humped because of his age and overly friendly demeanor. I live in a one bedroom apartment, though, and wanted to make sure my pup had ample opportunities to socialize and play. Enter Dog PPL. I was fully expecting to try their 2 weeks and leave because of the exorbitant price. But as the days go on, I realize you get what you pay for. The rufferees are usually on top of it (save for a couple of evenings) and most importantly, every dog here is temperament tested with vaccine records on file. I used to have to meticulously plan out public dog park visits to avoid certain people but not here. Every dog is friendly and ready to play and it has made such a difference in Alfie's life. The amenities on each table are such a nice touch and the food/coffee/drinks is imo overpriced and I rarely get anything but I've had friends want to come for after work drinks to play with dogs so I get the appeal! If you qualify for the U27 membership, the pricing drops to $80/month which is doable for me rather than the $120/month. I'm a graduate student and while it is, indeed, pricy, I get a comfortable place to work and free WiFi so I can study while my pup gets his exercise. It's definitely not the place to hardcore grind for finals or a 20 page paper but it's enough where I can definitely catch up on emails and reading while my dog has a blast. Dog PPL is a wonderful idea that I wish was a little more financially accessible to more people. I would love to see similar members only dog parks popping up, maybe with less amenities at a lower price point because I love the idea of temperament tests and health requirements for a safe environment. read more

Great concept and execution. A clean, fun dog park with food and beverage offerings to purchase throughout the day. Don't forget that they don't open on Mondays until 2 pm. My dog gets to make a bunch of friends and run around without a leash. She's so happy. I would like to see them somehow manage the amount of random poop. Owners really need to watch their dogs and not be so careless about having poop lie around. That's my biggest turn off. It still smells strong but what can you do with so many dogs in a concentrated area. Staff and rufferees are awesome. Do need to be careful as some dogs are not well trained and show aggression. Maybe another thing they can offer on top in terms of services to add to this business is some quality dog training that people can sign up and pay for. The dog ppl concept is smart - a safer/nicer place for your dog to be where you know the dogs have to pass a temperament check and be up to date on their shots just to get in. They keep the facilities incredibly clean, and the ruffurees (the people who mind the dogs inside the facility) are all huge plusses, but it does feel overpriced for what you get - a lot of amenities like coffee or food are additional costs. And because of its popularity the park can become way too crowded to the point of feeling uncomfortable for humans and dogs. I have called the business not once, but several times and left my info and number for call back. I never received a call back, text, or email in reply. This business caters to animals, living things we care for and consider family. If they cannot manage a call back for a potential new member its scary that other aspects of the business are substandard such as staff and/or its management. We can't appreciate this place enough since it addresses all the concerns we've had about taking our sweet boy to other dog parks - aggressive or unvaccinated dogs, unkept facilities, parks without a small dog area. We feel safe here and our dog truly enjoys the playtime with fellow doggos at the park. Each dog goes through a temperament test before they're accepted into the park to ensure they can safely interact with others. They have filtered water with disposable cups so there's less germ spreading. Rufferee staff monitor the dogs to make sure they're not playing too rough and clean the pee + poo so the park is sanitary at all times. Not to mention they give our boy all the pets and belly rubs he asks for :) There's also major perks for owners - a cafe that serves alcohol! They change their food and drink menu seasonally and serve beer on tap. DOG PPL frequently hosts fun events such as - spaw days, yoga classes, dog adoption, and recently had a Super Bowl viewing party (all with your fur friends!) This place lets small dogs and their owners get away with anything they want. They let the small dogs in the big dog side which doesn't make any sense. If your larger dog wants to bark, play or even accidentally steps on the small dog, this place will correct your dog and punish you. Instead of just doing the common sense thing and keeping the small dogs on the small dog side only. Would not recommend. read more

The main thing I can say about the park - it is a great idea and a stinky execution. We were members of the club for 5 months or so, and at the beginning it was quite a good place to bring the dog, chill or socialize. Internet access, availability of bathrooms, coffee bar, seating area - were all good ideas. The staff was friendly and rather attentive. However, within a couple of months things started to change. First, the amount of dogs.. it would be so packed at times that it would get super chaotic. Second, the stink. Unbearable. The staff would do a few things here and there with cleaning but oh my.. Definitely not near what it takes to keep the place tolerable. Another important note - the park doesn't have separate areas for small and big dogs, and there are a lot of really big dogs that come to play. It definitely is a less friendly place for the small ones. In general, the idea of the park is great, Santa Monica definitely needs a playground for the dogs. We stopped going there because of the awful smell of the place and overwhelming amount of dogs (especially around 4-6 pm). read more

I recently canceled my membership at Dog PPL after a few months of trying it out. While there were some lovely experiences--meeting great people and watching my five-month-old puppy enjoy playing with other dogs--I ultimately decided it wasn't the right fit for us due to safety concerns. One of the biggest issues I encountered was the lack of active supervision, particularly in the small dog park. While the referees in the large dog area were present, I often found that small dogs were left to sort things out themselves. On multiple occasions, my puppy was targeted by certain dogs that fixated on him--stomping on his neck, biting and pulling his ears hard, and grabbing his legs. When I raised my concerns with the referee, I was told this was just "natural puppy play" and that they would only step in if he yelped. I was told puppies don't feel anything when grabbed by the 'scruff of the neck' as this is how their mothers carried them. This was unsettling because my dog is very quiet and unlikely to vocalize pain, even when it's clear he's uncomfortable. It's also unsettling to hear this advice when clearly the other dog is not his mother and was not carrying him by the scruff of his neck, he had his whole mouth around his neck. I felt like I was being gaslit. I adjusted my visit times to avoid busier periods, hoping for a better experience, but the behavior of some dogs remained an issue. Even in the morning, a larger dog repeatedly jumped on my puppy, bit his neck, and stomped on him. When my puppy sought comfort from me, I held him, but the other dog continued to lunge and bite, actually managed to grab his ear whilst he sat on my lap, showing no restraint and his owner didn't seem bothered. It became clear that there was little to no intervention unless an extreme reaction occurred, which is frustrating for owners of younger, more vulnerable dogs. Another concern is the lack of accountability among some dog owners. I saw multiple instances where owners passively watched their dogs behave aggressively, calling their names in the gentlest way without taking real action. This creates an environment where bad behavior goes unchecked. For the price of membership, I expected a higher standard of supervision and intervention. If this is meant to be a safe space for off-leash interaction, it should have consistent oversight in all areas, not just the large dog section. Owners shouldn't have to physically intervene to protect their dogs or run to get help from another area. Once I had to leave all my belongings and carry my dog to the large dog park just to have him checked over after another dog was aggressive towards him and he was literally screaming. I may consider returning when my dog is older and better able to handle rougher play, but for now, I'm disappointed. My recommendation would be to ensure referees are always present in the small dog park and take a more proactive approach to managing inappropriate behavior. I hope Dog PPL considers making improvements, as the concept is great, but the execution needs work to ensure all dogs, especially young ones, have a safe and positive experience. read more

We took advantage of the two week trial during the summer. It was a great way for our Aussie to socialize with other dogs. Love the concept of Dog PPL for the owners as well with drinks and food. The only downside is that the price for a membership is expensive - $180 a month! We decided not to move forward with it after the trial ended. It's a lot calmer and mellow compared to an actual public dog park as there are people who look and watch closely for any aggressive behavior in the dogs. I do like that it is clean and spacious. My Aussie loves the pool pen and I would consider a membership if it wasn't that high in price as drinks and food are an additional spending on top of the membership itself. read more

I can't say more incredible things about this place, we go a few times a week at least! Super safe and clean, they clean regularly and deep clean and pull up the turf once a month. Dogs are screened before becoming members for vet records and temperament so you know it's a safe environment, plus there are great ruffarees watching. We've been members for almost a year and they continue to invest in the park and add more and more incredible events with awesome vendors. The new food truck is an awesome add on too. The only downfall is that the wines are pretty bad, but hey I continue to buy them since the atmosphere is so great. An awesome place with awesome people and dogs! Parking is easy too. read more

Great dog park with perfect human appeal. This is a next-level dog park, which is why there is a monthly fee and require membership to visit. But don't worry, it's a super easy process consisting of a 40-minute monitored visit with one of their referees. While there, mom and dad get to check out what's in it for them - which is food and drinks for purchase, wifi, bathrooms, nice and umbrellaed seating, and a dog park that's constantly being cleaned and, therefore, doesn't smell as expected. At Dog PPL referees are in place to help keep your dog safe and having a good time. Free poop bags are everywhere, there's music playing, and it's a great vibe all around. Try it out! read more

"Applied" for a membership at Dog PPL during early afternoon of Saturday, 7/8. Submitted all updated vaccinations, requested photos and other information. Received an email notifying me that my application was received. I proceeded to visit the location and was notified by the front desk representative - Alyssa that my dog would need to complete a temperament test prior to admittance. Alyssa assured me and my friend (another Dog PPL member) that the temperament test scheduling link would be sent out via email later that night or the following day - at the latest. Alyssa would not allow us to schedule the temperament test while we were at the physical location. We leave for the day and return to visit the location the following day after multiple calls to the location were not answered. Additional note - voicemail was full. Upon visiting the location for the second consecutive day, Alyssa informs us that the enrollment process is contingent on one employee (Brooke) pushing the application from the application queue to the temperament test scheduling queue. Alyssa calls Brooke for assistance and Brooke refuses to push us out of the application queue so we could schedule my pup for the temperament test. Mind you - this is after completing the application and visiting the physical location 2x with the pup. FWIW - my friend (already a member) scheduled a temperament test under his account prior to our visit so there was a "rufferee" available to conduct the temperament test at the time of visit. They had my application with up to date shots, had the temperament test time slot reserved and still refused to work with us 2 days in a row. TLDR - Dog PPL enrollment process is flawed. An incompetent manager (Brooke) will not be helpful. If you believe $120/month dog park membership entitles you to a streamlined enrollment process, this is not the right business for you. However - If you don't mind incompetent management, can tolerate an enrollment process designed by a child and want to spend $120/month at a business that doesn't value your time - I highly recommend this place. read more

Went with my cousin, before I had my little rescue pup. and now I have a pup of my own that I rescued while he was running in the carpool lane of the 405 freeway! He's been chipped and checked out and has all his shots and neutering. He's absolutely adorable. Two years old, miniature pincher. I would love to take him to this park as he loves dog parks, and dogs and very playful but careful and respectful. I just, sadly, can't afford it. read more

My puppy absolutely loves DOG PPL! If you're looking for a place that is dog friendly with fairly responsible dog owners and a SUPER responsible staff - then this is your place. Case in point - they even have RUFFerees stationed throughout the premises to monitor all the pups They have towels, blankets, bags, hand sanitizer, drinks for the humans, and even a pool for all the pups to jump in during the summer - what is there not to love about this place?! Sure they charge a monthly membership fee - but they kind of have to so all dogs owners take things seriously and obey the entry rules by having their dog/dogs spayed or neutered and up to date on vaccines - and by having each dog pass a temperament check during the first visit. I truly do not know what I would do without this place. Thank god for DOG PPL! read more
