Beef, shrimp and chicken fajita

I don't know what's happened to this place, but the quality of the food has really gone down. I first dined here in 2013 and it was fabulous. I ordered fajitas last night... Something simple that you can get from any Mexican restaurant in any town, anywhere, and they are usually pretty much the same - crisp onions and peppers with whatever meat you select. What I got here last night was a pile of overcooked mush. The only reason I gave two stars was because the margaritas are great. I won't go back unless I see a review that indicates things have improved.

The service consisted of taking our order and that was it. The food was bland. Looks like it's El Toro's from now on. Adios El San Jose.

Small restaurant with great food and fantastic flavors…read more We were traveling and decided that we needed to stop for dinner, so we saw the great reviews for lost buenos and we gave you a try. Only about eight tables inside and they also have grocery items, including fruit and vegetables, candies, and baked goods. At first, we were gonna get get our items to go, but when we realized it would probably be hard to eat in the car so we stayed and had a wonderful meal. Did you really want to hear about the food: Salsa - fresh, mild kick, I would consider it more on that chunky side than the smooth side. Salsa - very thin, some more on the smooth side, but very tasty. Cucumber Pinapple Drink - refreshing, with a hint of the pineapple sweetness. Really delicious, and served in a small picture which threw me at first, but then I realized everybody else had them, and they were drinking through a straw. Problem solved. Tamarind Drink - not quite as refreshing as the cucumber, but the drink was good with that hint of tamarin flavor.. Burritto - serve with your choice of meat, it was enough to feed two people, two very large people. It also comes with fresh, cucumber and radishes, which was a really nice touch. We got ours with chicken and peach with our choice.. We decided to get a couple of the baked goods to go, so maybe I'll update my review after we give those a try in the morning. Great little fine. I think you'll enjoy it.

The waitress took our order as soon as we walked in. She brought out chips and individual cups of salsa for each of us (the salsa was excellent with just the right amount of heat). Three of us ordered the #3 special (taco, enchilada and burrito), 1 ordered Fajitas, 1 order for #2 Lunch special(Taco and enchilada, one order the huge Cubana Torta. Service was very good. Food was great and authentic. The Cubana Torta is another thing in itself! Huge, with hot dogs sticking out the side and the kitchen sink ingredients on the inside. Freddie got half of it down and packed up the other half to take home to his wife. It's a cultural experience trying to eat the whole thing yourself. Since the last time I was here they have added a very nice outdoor covered area to the left of the restaurant...nicely decorated and a perfect place to enjoy Mexican food weather permitting!!! We'll definitely go back.

Starting off with the chips, hand cut, and tasting very fresh with the salsa that was pretty ok. We tried the birria tacos which were fantastic. The consume was on point. We also tried the Real Mexico Enchiladas with rice and beans. The rice and beans were actually really good unlike most spots. Sopa was great. We also got to try the chicken finger plate for the kids and couldn't help but notice the chicken and fries were actually solid. All in all Real Mexico lives up to the hype and is a spot that I'd come back to next time I'm in the mood for any Mexican cravings.

We felt that the food was overpriced for what we got. Each time, our dishes arrive luke warm and seeming to swim in cheese sauce. The portions are average. We've tried their soup, enchiladas, tacos and a couple of other entrees and... no thanks. Nothing we'd want to try again. Cleanliness is lax. A good overhaul of things like counter edges, the glass, floors under the tables and the bathrooms would make for a better experience, and a more positive review. The service? Meh... we did not feel that warm fuzzy feeling each time we have tried this place out (have been with a large group, another couple and just myself and a friend). We've felt like we were bothering the staff or that they had better things to do, or would rather attend another table than ours. It's a weird feeling when the staff ask how everything was without making eye contact, then not letting us answer because they're already handing us the receipt and wish us a good night and walking away. 2 stars for the chips and salsa, and free pop refills. So no, unless you LOVE this type of food and service, we do not recommend this place.

The ambience was good, pretty standard for a Mexican style restaurant. The only thing of note was that the bathroom had an odor of urine, so maybe some better cleaning there. The server seemed a bit casual, I think it's just a southern thing (calling us honey and such) which was fine just not something I prefer. But she was attentive and nice. The food we had was good, we all left full and happy.

Armando's Mexican restaurant | St.George, Sc…read more 5792 County Rd S-18-200, St George, SC 29477 Armando's Mexican Restaurant - St. George, SC Review 3.7 out of 5 stars If you find yourself rolling through St. George, South Carolina and your stomach starts making executive decisions for you, Armando's Mexican Restaurant is probably going to pop up on your radar. And honestly? It's a bit of a mixed bag -- like a taco that's mostly good but missing that one key ingredient. The Good Stuff First off, the staff? Solid. Friendly, attentive, and quick on their feet -- the kind of service where your drink gets refilled before you even realize it's empty. That alone scores points. Food comes out fairly quick too, which is always a win when you're hungry enough to consider eating the chips basket itself. Pricing is also very reasonable. Around $15 per person, which in today's economy feels like you just got away with something. Decor? Let's call it "classic." Not bad, not great -- just kind of there doing its job. The Not-So-Good Now... let's talk about the salsa. This wasn't your typical Mexican restaurant salsa. This was... something else. It had a strong marinara vibe -- like it got lost on the way to an Italian restaurant and just decided to stay. Chips deserved better. The restaurant itself is showing its age a bit. "Dated" is the polite way to put it -- like stepping into a time capsule that hasn't been updated since flip phones were king. Bathrooms? Yeah... we're not writing home about those. And parking? Tight. Limited. A little rough around the edges -- literally. Think potholes and wear that's seen better days. Final Verdict Armando's isn't trying to be fancy -- and that's okay. It delivers on quick service, friendly staff, and affordable meals. But it definitely has some areas that could use attention (starting with that identity-crisis salsa). If you're in the area and want a quick, budget-friendly bite, it'll do the job. Just maybe don't go in expecting a life-changing Mexican food experience. 3.7 out of 5 Good service, fair prices... questionable salsa decisions.

I will say the waitress was attentive and got the orders right. However, I won't frequent this establishment again and can't recommend it to anyone.
