We waited on hold for about 10 minutes. Placed 2 half chicken orders, 1 with plantains and black beans with rice and the other with steamed vegetables and rice and beans. Total cost $39.00. We were told 15 minutes and it was ready when we arrived. we walked in and iv could immediately see what others were talking about. Dirty floor, tables, trash cans. Dead bugs. I Immediately regretted my decision. while waiting for the employee to finish her call. I looked at the food in the warming containers. Everything was dried out and looked old. Nothing was covered. Cashier was using the same gloves hands serve food, answer the phone and type in orders. The food was just okay. I liked the charcoal flavor of the chicken 7/10 but the rice was dry and hard, the beans were over cooked and flavorless, the veggies were mushy and lacked seasoning as well. The lack of cleanliness is a huge deal for me because if the front of the house is nasty, the back couldn't be any better. This place is a no for me.

MORE THAN JUST EXCELLENT SERVICE -- MIA DESERVES TO BE RECOGNIZED!…read more I honestly wish I could give Mia 10 stars because five simply isn't enough! After completing a 5-mile walk in support of breast cancer, I decided to stop by Ball Bay Seafood City to grab something to eat. I was wearing my breast cancer survivor sash, and Mia noticed it right away. Before even taking my drink order, she congratulated me on being a survivor. That simple acknowledgment touched my heart more than she probably realized. I ordered one of their specialty margaritas, and it was absolutely amazing! They had a $7 top-shelf tequila special, which made it even better. I was looking forward to enjoying a seafood bag, but what happened next completely caught me off guard. After bringing me my drink, Mia told me that my margarita was on her! I was genuinely shocked and told her she didn't have to do that. But she insisted, congratulating me again on being a survivor. Let me tell you, the food was delicious, but Mia's kindness was the icing on the cake. Her attentiveness, prompt service, warm personality, and genuine compassion made my entire experience unforgettable. And just when I thought her kindness couldn't get any better, I finished my meal and asked for my check. Mia told me I was all set and wished me a good day. She had taken it upon herself to make my day even more special simply because she wanted to celebrate my survival! As a breast cancer survivor, moments like these mean more than words can express. We never know what someone has been through, and sometimes the smallest acts of kindness leave the biggest impressions. Mia, if you ever get to read this, THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart! You didn't just provide excellent customer service; you showed genuine love, generosity, and humanity. You reminded me that there are still beautiful people in this world who go out of their way to make someone else feel special. And to the management at Ball Bay Seafood City, PLEASE recognize Mia for the incredible person and employee she is. Employees like her are the reason customers remember an experience, tell their friends about it, and want to come back. I came in after a 5-mile breast cancer walk expecting to enjoy a good meal, but I left with a full stomach and an even fuller heart. Mia, you are a true blessing! Thank you for celebrating my survivorship with me. You made an already special day even more unforgettable. I will never forget your kindness! If you visit Ball Bay Seafood City, I hope you have the pleasure of being served by Mia. She is truly a gem!

Maybe I'm old school but I like to see a little more professional look at restaurants like this. Environment is always cool. Good music to hang out too. Prices are good from 6$ to 100$ depending on what you want. My daughter and I got the 33$ boil bag with 1/2 lb snow crab and Head on shrimp and crawfish complete with potatoes, corn and sausage. Boil bay sauce - the best! It was my daughter's bday so they gave her a free plate of Beignets with chocolate sauce. Super yummy. Our waitress was great- And of course we will be back. They have DJ nights, Ladies Nights and a few other. Definitely check out their website.

It has been nearly three weeks; I can stop thinking about No Frill Bar and Grill…read more I'm a military spouse, so I know my time in Hampton Roads is coming to an end soon. I visited a Hampton Roads Restaurant group on FB and asked if someone was visiting from out of town: What is your go-to place to take them? Out of 90+ comments, No Frill Bar and Grill was mentioned the most - six times! So when I finally had a day off and some other business to tend to in Norfolk, it was the perfect excuse to finally try them. No Frill Bar and Grill has been open for nearly 30 years by Jerry Meltsner. Jerry's nephew Jon Kliner helps co-own and manage operations. It originally opened on Tidewater Drive, but the space didn't allow for much growth - 10 years later, he moved to a location off Colley Avenue and Spotswood Avenue. Growth continued, moving from counter service to table service. The second location, at 1620 Laskin Road in Virginia Beach, opened in 2005. The restaurant's longevity stems from quality, consistency, price, service, and staff who genuinely care about the business and serving the community. I asked the server for her opinion on two options - Salmon, Shrimp and grits won. The dish was incredible: lightly blackened salmon, for once blackened food that doesn't just taste like salt. I don't dine with the swine, so I asked for no andouille sausage. The sautéed shrimp, caramelized onions, tomatoes, and spinach simmered in Norfolk Canyon ale sauce over cheesy grits and Boursin lavash cracker. The cheesy grits were smooth, and the Boursin lavash cracker was a nice touch. The Boursin added extra creaminess to the meal. The cracker wasn't really a cracker - more like little toasted bread. After this first meal, I know two things for sure: 1. I definitely understand why it is such a local favorite, and 2. I will be back.

Service is prompt, salads are good, parking sometimes can be an issue due to the narrow streets and…read morelimited parking.
