On Mother's Day at that. Shame on this location my nephew almost lost his life there today and no staff stepped into help at all. This is my sisters experience today . The most scary and traumatizing thing happened to me today and has had me shaking up all day I came very close to losing my son today. He was choking at a restaurant and after 3 attempts of the Heimlich maneuver from 3 different people and nothing was working seeing your child go limp and not breathing or responding at all and just thick saliva coming out his mouth. And not one staff member came over to help in fact later on after everything calmed down and we left the restaurant. I was here for a work lunch to celebrate a coworker's birthday. There was really no one else there--maybe one other table. Our server was completely uninterested and service was very slow. I ordered the Azteca Salad without meat (vegetarian) and it was depressing. It had hard croutons and radishes (which didn't scream Mexican to me) and an extremely minimal amount of black beans and cheese. Definitely not worth $15. I have been coming to this restaurant for over 12 years and never had a bad experience. Until today. Today at 8:30 pm, I got in a shouting match with the young, tall, lean, attractive male manager with dramatic large eyes (I didn't get his name) over being charged $2 for "grilled chicken" (that was never ordered) that was in reality, a compensation for the Al Pastor and Shrimp tacos, that were charged at $3.00 a piece (Two Tacos $6.00). We also got a very smart attitude from the server at the beginning of the dinner. Went here with a friend and sat down to order. We ordered drinks and then proceeded to order food. I asked the server if they sold tacos, because there were no tacos or taco prices on the menu. He sharply retorted, "What do you think?! This is a Mexican Restaurant! Of course we have tacos!" I said, "Ok, but you don't have tacos or their prices on the menu." And he said more politely, "We have tacos, what would you like?" Everything then seem to go more smoothly. We get the bill. (see enclosed photo) On the bill it states that my two tacos were $6.00 total and that there was a $2.00 charge for Grilled Chicken. I waited for the server to come back and asked him; he turned around and went and asked the Manager about the charges. The server comes back and explains to me that the extra charge ($2.00 for grilled chicken, was in fact the higher prices for Al Pastor and Shrimp). He said the manager explained that the grilled food was more than the ground beef, which is the regular price of $3.00 per taco.) He also said, that extra cost was because the steak and shrimp were grilled. (?) I told our server, that that he should have explained from the start and the prices should be on the menu. He said, "I just work here." My thinking here was, if you charge me per taco, you should have that actual taco on the reciept and not a fake upcharge for $2.00 grilled chicken. I also told him he should have let me know that, when he brought the bill. I asked him to voice my concern with the Manager. When we went to leave, I asked to speak with the Manager at the counter. He stood five feet away, so I asked if he could come closer so I could show him the bill and talk more discretely. He asked why?, so I explained that I didn't want to talk about this out loud in front of a guest waiting for her company. He came a little closer as I started telling him about our visit. As I started to explain, he raised his voice and rudely cut me off, to explain that "shrimp and steak cost more than ground beef" I got offended and said, "please don't cut me off before I have to explain to you.... " and he said, "I already knew what you were going to say!" and it devolved from there. We got into shouting match because he started saying that "You must not eat at many Mexican restaurants, because you would know that shrimp and steak cost more and that is why you were charged more." Once this was said, I got heated and told him that I was going to call his father (I assumed the elder gentleman who used to work during that shift, when the young man started a few years ago, was his father because of the way he spoke with him.). The young man raised his voice and said, "Get The Hell Out NOW! You will not threaten me with telling my father!" and grinning the entire time as if I made a mistake. I said, "I am not leaving until I say what I have to say, and you do not disrespect me." At this point we both were shouting. I then stated that the issue wasn't about the shrimp or steak, but that 1) The server never mentioned any upcharge or knew why the receipt reflected what it did. 2) I didn't order grilled chicken and most restaurants have the actual price for each type of taco printed on their receipt and menu. He continued to tell me to "Get The Hell Out!" and I parted with an, "F-U." as I left. Not very mature of me I know, but the manager set the tone. I don't mind paying $2.00 for anything and I don't like to argue or confront, but the Manager 1) Didn't come to the table to explain, 2)Didn't listen to my complaint first, 3) Insulted me by insinuating my lack of knowledge of Mexican restaurants and prices for food., 4) Raising his voice, smirking and disrespecting me, 5) The server giving a snarky remark about question on the menu, and 6) Not having the server explain BEFOREHAND the upcharge for certain tacos BEFORE the receipt arrives. The restaurant is ultimately at fault for not having taco prices on the menu or accurately listed on the receipt. The manager and I got into an ugly scene over $2.00 "grilled chicken" printed and charged on my receipt. This was totally unacceptable and never happened before. Ordered steak fajitas. It ended up being a plate of grilled vegetables and about 2-3 ounces of beef in it. Not sure if they ran out of steak today or if its always that way? But $17 for 3 oz of low quality beef was very disappointing. If they always serve portion like that it honestly should be called it veggie fajitas and prices, and say it comes with a bite of beef on the side. It was that strange. We all had a laugh about it actually. The wait staff was very friendly and accommodating when asked to sit at a both not near a lot of people. They give you chips and salsa while you wait for your food which I almost finished them all. There are so many options that it is hard to choose what to get. I ordered the Grande Dinner without cheese which is a variety platter of food. You can get the meat of your choice; mine was ground beef. I was not able to finish my food which I was able to enjoy the next day for lunch. This restaurant is a must try. read more

Yep, back to El rodeo on Lorain because the Parma Heights one has got to go muchmuch to my surprise. This one has also changed its menu but instead of having a new menu of 12 pages like the one in Parma Heights they backed it down to just four convenient pages with all of the favorites everybody orders all the time --now the prices went up and I wasn't happier about that, but my dinner number four was still there so I was able to get it and left a happy camper. again don't miss it. Don't go to the other one. We ordered 2 entrees, the quesadilla and the #F combo. They messed up the quesadilla by adding things that weren't on the menu. They fixed it but added curdled queso. The server never came back after that even after we attempted to flag her down about the #F combo burrito tasting off. When she finally came back we let her know that the burrito tasted gross and she said she was grabbing her manager. We understand Spanish, she probably assumed we didn't because she spoke to the manager in Spanish saying that we're complaining but the food looks fine. The manager came with an attitude and said that we ate 1/2 the combo so it must not have been too bad. There were 2 different types of chicken in the combo for some reason. 1 tasted great the other had a sour taste. He stood there and argued with us and said that we could've told the server if it wasn't "up to our standards" we told him we tried to flag her down multiple times and he said we should've stopped eating then (which we did). He didn't apologize once and tried to argue even more after we said that we didn't want the quesadilla to go. I'm a big fan of Mexican food and in Los Angeles there is an infinite amount of places to get it. While in some states, good Mexican food is a bit more of a challenge to find. I was excited to see the sign for this themed restaurant. Clearly a full service restaurant with abundant seating, a nice little bar, friendly bi-lingual Spanish and English speaking staff and a menu with all the classic Mexican American dishes. I tried several items, shrimp fajitas, shredded beef burrito and hard shell taco. Straight up American Mexican classics. All the food items were big generous portions as per tradition and came with chips and salsa. While the shrimp was not on par with west coast ones, the veggies and sides had plenty of love in the making of them. Beans, rice, salsa as well as the beef and chicken all from scratch and all with balanced flavor. Of course I'm basing my review relative to the region same as I would if I were in New York rating pizza. It wouldn't be a top restaurant in Los Angeles or other California, Arizona and Texas but it shines for Cleveland Ohio! read more

So sad, we've been eating here for about a year with basically no issues and the time before last that we got carry-out my food had a long hair in it. We didn't call to complain but it was a bit gross. This last time we didn't receive a taco that was supposed to come with our combo meal and the order of extra tacos we got on the side came soaked in oil and falling apart. The carnitas I get every time we eat here didn't taste the same and were also in a pool of oil. Our chile relleno was super tiny compared to every other time we've had it. I called because we didn't get what we had paid for and was told a manager would call me back but they never did. Called again a week later and let them know I never heard from a manager...was told they'd definitely get back to me. Nope. Never happened. We ended up having to dispute the amount for the tacos with our credit card company since no one could be bothered to get back to us. Gonna look around for a new Mexican place. read more

Made the mistake of ordering from this place today and they sent a tin of rancid something. Upon opening whatever this is I instantly gagged, I don't know if it was the meat, the onions or rice. All I know is it was inedible garbage that smelled of rotting flesh. Dish number 2! Overcooked, dry meat that resembles chicken jerky, laying over a bed of wilted lettuce, smashed into refried beans. Nothing in this order was remotely edible. I can open a 20 year old military MRE and be less disappointed than what was delivered to my house!!! This place has been around for probably about 10 years now. Back when it opened I was a Nuevo Acapulco loyalist so never even considered going here. Finally checked it out after the old Nuevo closed, and am so glad I did! This is the new west side Mexican standby. Pros: Pleasant atmosphere, nice booths with inlaid art, perfect music and volume, tasty margaritas, decent and tasty food, quick service, clean. Cons: kind of pricey if you don't do a special (our two dinners and a few margaritas for each of us came to $80), bar area is amazingly bland (oh how I miss the great Mexican cantinas of yesteryear! Nuevo's, the bar at the old El Charro in North Royalton, and on and on). At Nuevo, I liked the bar better than the dining rooms; here, the dining area (with semi-private booths) is so much better. I can only comment on one item as I had never been here before. The server was rather inattentive although it wasn't at all crowded. The table salsa was nearly frozen solid and I had to hunt someone down to correct the mistake. That was taken care of quickly but the next salsa was just a touch less frozen. It had a spicy hot quality but it had no flavor. I ordered chili rellenos and they were ok but again, just heat and little flavor. It seems about 30% overpriced, all things considered. As far as average experiences go at Mexican restaurants, this one does it. The food was average. The salsa was a bit too spicy for regular salsa. Regarding the conditions of the place, bathrooms were not well maintained and there was very little air circulation throughout the restaurant. Don't waste your time here. Ordered take out and when I got there, I was informed the order "didn't go through," so now my wait time has doubled. What is the purpose of ordering take out? Uber Eats & Door Dash going in & out like crazy, but taking my order over the phone doesn't go through? I specifically asked about the pico de gallo being mixed in with the meat, which I didn't want if that was the case, and the employee who took my phone call said it was "on the side" but that was not the case when I opened the order. About a dozen of us met for dinner there last Thursday. Not too crowded (I think a debate was going on that night. Big deal!) and we were seated immediately (we had called ahead). Staff was very polite, friendly and attentive. First off: they have very good salsa with chips. The queso dip is also among the best. The margarita was rather sweet, but also quite good. My combination dinner consisted of a beef enchilada, a beef burrito and a cheese-filled chili relleno (diner's choice). It came out hot and sizzling. The beef had a nice cumin flavor to it. And the sauce smothering my dinner, the red sauce, was absolutely fantastic! Well worth returning for. It was so good that when I discovered my relleno was beef filled instead of cheese, I DIDN'T CARE. I ate every morsel on my plate. Nothing was going home. In spite of the above mentioned mix-up I am still giving the place 5 stars. It was that good. I look forward to returning and trying some other things on the menu. read more
