Like a dum dum, I asked for another plate of platanos, when in reality the lunch plate comes with plenty. And they were rich, deeply flavored, complex, and had that lovely burned caramel flavor and appearance that makes bananas so popular in El Salvador and S. America. They have a nice selection of pupusas. Naturally I tried the chicharron because it usually has more flavor, and it gives the chef a chance to really bust out with a bold taste. It was good, and just as good as some of the better pupusas in Santa Ana. The beans, well, like most places they look like the blender got the best of them. I don't know why Latino restaurants like to pulverize their beans. But tasty nonetheless. Typical pintos I think. Nice flavor, maybe a little manteca. If you are new to pupusas, don't get fussy because they take a little while to make. Your patience will be rewarded. If you are in the SGV, don't pass up Los Planes for pupusas y platanos.
