During a Sunday May 2022 drive from Pamplona to Lleida, we stopped in Olite for Lunch. Actually, we were looking for a winery recommended by our travel agent, of which the direction and contact information was incorrect. Note to File: Wineries in Spain also seem to require reservations.
Olite itself is a cute little village and a wine town. The main plaza was happily buzzing, but we decided to head down the narrow streets to look for a nice place to eat. At one point, Gayle pointed down a side street to El Rincón de Fer (Fer's Corner) and stated that we should eat there.
We decided to go inside and found a nice table in the back room. What we first observed was a number of happy local families ordering and enjoying their burgers. That's seconded by the menu, which had all sorts of burger combinations and a very nice wine list. I had been trying to minimize my choice of burgers in Spain, and I think our Lunch at Fer's Corner was my second meal that way. Note: - There are Burger Kings all over Spain and there's no way I was going inside an American fast food joynt in a foreign land.
El Rincón de Fer burgers were also an easier choice as our Spanish and their English was limited. I ordered an Ox version that was piled high with bacon, veggies, a potato, and other items. I ended up breaking up the burger in 2 and eating it with a knife and fork. Gayle's choice was simpler, but just as delicious as mine. We also shared a bottle of a local Navarra Rose to wash it all down. This place was fun, service was friendly and good, and with our delicious lunches, this place hit a nice sweet spot. read more
