Food is really good. Small intimate setting. Clean. Good service. Authentic food, in my opinion.

Overall it's probably four stars, but the extra star is because Gili-b's is open 24/7…read more Probably everyone in Sioux Falls knows this spot as a place that's great for late night food after consuming horrifying amounts of alcohol, but did you know it's actually BETTER in the daytime? A rarity for late-night drunk food spots, Gili-b's is actually some super legit Mexican food. I've come here for lunch dozens of times when the food and kitchen is fresh, the customers are sober, and the employees aren't stressed by a bunch of drunken jerks asking for ridiculous orders and demanding their food be ready with the speed of Taco Bell. Since I'm gluten free, the street tacos are my go-to. Nothing better than meat in corn tortillas, topped off with onions and cilantro. What else do you need? Alright, their salsas and sauces are also excellent. My favorites are the chorizo, carnitas, carne asada, chicharron and lengua (unfortunately they are sometimes sold out of this one). Plus a tamarind Jarritos. Our last meal before moving from Sioux Falls was here (sober and in the daytime), and anytime I'm back in town I'm heading here IMMEDIATELY.

Our orders are very rarely correct anymore. And if they are, they're disappointing. The steak is…read moreovercooked and chewy. The vegetable burrito contained lettuce, beans, spoonful of cheese, and pico de gallo. Not a single vegetable on it?! Ordered cheese enchiladas and got chicken. Do you not ask for pico de gallo, ranchero or enchilada sauce because all you'll get is their hot spicy salsa. My children do speak fluent Spanish so there should not be a language barrier. What once was the up-and-coming best takeout restaurant in Sioux Falls, which could be franchised, has turned into overpriced takeout. With competition being fierce amongst new authentic Mexican takeout, They need to both step up their game and get back to reasonable pricing.

I judge Mexican food by Phoenix standards which actually has served me well. Food is ok here, but…read morelacks a distinct Mexican flavor. We ordered the guacamole for our chips. First the waiter said they didn't have any then asked again if we were having the small and then said they had enough for that. Then by the time we received our entrees we didn't get it. I assume he forgot. Staff is friendly though. Both my mom and I ordered the seafood torte. I assumed it was their version of a Torta sandwich but I really don't know what it was. It was more like a tostada hybrid of some sort. It had little shrimp or seafood. My mother loves this place and bless her heart, because I find this nothing more than an average place at best. Lastly, they didn't have any coke products for soda choices. This was the second time on my trip home I couldn't find Coke Zero at a restaurant. No biggie, but Pepsi products? Are we trapped in the 90s here or what? I say to this place no bueno.

We went to the restaurant after it reopened, and really looked about the same inside. Maybe…read morerefreshed a little, new carpet, paint on the walls. The service was very good. My two enchilada dinner I thought was very good, my wife got the chicken flautas, and although they were good, she felt that they had better elsewhere. We went for lunch, and was disappointed that there was no lunch menu. Compared to one of our favorites, Puerto Vallarta restaurant on the east side of town, the regular menu prices are 25 to 35% higher, and of course at Puerto Vallarta they do have a lunch menu with still large portions at about half or less of the price of Casa Del Rey We will give it another shot, maybe check out the bar side the next time, but it probably won't be in our regular rotation.
