I was wowed at the portion and fullness as this entrée had different layers of flavor starting from a cabbage slaw that seemed to be a palate cleanser as I ate along. On top of the cabbage was a layer of plantains. These plantains were drenched in the juices of the stewed chicken that sat on top. The pickled onions and crumbled cheese added more unique flavor. This layered entrée was delicious from start to end; I still have plenty of leftovers. The service was quick, and I could tell there was a language barrier, but I will still able to communicate with the hostess. The ambience of the place could use a little razzle dazzle, but I will be back to try something else. Niiice!

There was a large party that seemed to cause major delays, and we ended up waiting about an hour for our food. Thankfully, the drinks were strong, so we had a great time catching up while we waited. We started with the guacamole, which was incredibly fresh and addictive. I ordered the Fresh Herbs Swai, and although they were out of the coconut rice, the dish was still flavorful and delicious. We also tried the Cuban 4 Leches cake and flan, and both were pretty good. Despite the long wait, this remains one of my favorite low-key spots. The food never disappoints, and I plan to return whenever I'm in the area.

The cuisine is Guatemalan, and I encourage everyone to try it because Mexican, Honduran, Guatemalan, Salvadoran, etc. are all different cuisines and should all be experienced. I used to avoid such places because I was afraid that the staff wouldn't speak English. If that's what you think, I encourage you to go anyway because you will make it work and it will be worth the effort and you will have a new experience. The people here are very nice and the food is very good. The restaurant is clean and welcoming. And we tried new things we never had before. For example, one of their beverages is called nance, which is a sweet yellow cherry. They have tacos and pupusas, but I recommend you try the doblas--somewhere between a tacos dorados and a chalupa.
