The quality of the food here is top notch for the area which is several blocks of dingy looking area with a lot of super sketch looking characters hanging around. I lunched here with friends. Their interior is stylishly-decorated (check out their floor!), and we watched Mexican soaps on their wide-screen TV. Service was quick. We're not positive all the staff spoke English, but ordering was easy enough by pointing at the menu. (Actually, on my last visit, didn't encounter any language issues.) When I'm at a Mexican restaurant, I usually go for tacos - here, I enjoyed four ($2.00/each), starting with the Tacos de Barbacoa (goat cooked slowly with special herbs), Tacos de Carnitas (fried pork, Michoacan-style), Tacos de Chorizo (spicy pork sausage - simply AWESOME), and ending with the Tacos de Cochinita Pibil (that's pork, baked and marinated Yucatan-style). With our meal, we received tasty chips and salsa, and warm peppers and onions in a bowl. Like straight up Mexican? Check them out! This place was dead at 7:00 PM on a Friday night which scared me a bit at first, but since my husband and I had driven all the way to Norristown to satisfy my Mexican food craving, I thought we'd give it a go. The server was friendly and were were immediately greeted, seated, and given menus. I opted for the enchiladas verde while my husband got the mole ones. They were both made with chicken and topped with lettuce, cheese, and creme. The waitress asked us up front if we were okay with everything on them which I appreciated. The enchiladas verde actually had a nice kick to it and the chicken was white meat and not dry. The portion was just right for me. However, I felt that $16 for an order of chicken enchiladas was quite steep, especially considering that it came with no sides and there were no chips or anything else brought to the table. I guess you have to order those delicious looking chips and salsas that I see in some of the Yelp photos separately. There are a few things other to keep in mind. Even though this place takes credit cards, you cannot put the tip on the card, so be sure to bring some cash for that. Thankfully we had some, so we could tip our friendly server. Parking didn't seem to be a problem. There were plenty of spots available on the street. They are metered though and depending on when you arrive, you might need to pay, so bring plenty of quarters! read more

I came to El Rincon De Mexico on my continuing adventure to eat at and review every Mexican eatery in Norristown. Currently headed down the W Marshall St strip (essentially a little Mexico in and of itself) El Rincon was my next stop. I popped in at around 8:30pm on a Wednesday night. I was alone, and the waitress was very friendly and made me feel welcome (which can be a legitimate issue at some places, due to my gringo status). I immediately noticed how clean and well-decorated the interior was, albeit small (although a pretty standard size for most Mexican joints in the area). The menu is very limited, again which is common for the area. There are no burritos, you are limited to a variety of tacos, quesadillas, tostadas, tortas, and perhaps one or two other common items, and a selection of five or six Mexican plates. The ala carte style items are all priced around what you expect for the area, $2 for a taco, $3 for a quesadilla, etc, and the plates all run $13 each. While I stuck to the tacos at my visit, some of the plates sounded quite good, like the mole enchiladas. I made a mental note to return after my quest is completed. Ordering was easy enough, although I did it in Spanish (which, as my mission continues, is improving quite noticably). I got four tacos, al pastor (spiced pork), carnitas (also spiced pork, but different), barbacoa (marinated goat meat), and traditional carne asada (steak). All four meats were outstanding; well spiced, perfectly cooked. The asada was a standout, strips of tender steak charred just slightly. Possibly the best tacos I've had in my adventure thus far, judging on pure taste. The drawbacks are, the tacos were quite small. They were worth their $2, don't get me wrong, but they were not as large as Taqueria Mexico Lindo, or anywhere close to as large as Los Compadres (to clarify, all these places serve the tacos on the same size tortilla... when I refer to size, I'm referring to amount of meat in the taco). And as mentioned above, you are limited to a very small menu (I'm beginning to think burritos aren't a traditional Mexican dish, as many of the Norristown Mexican spots don't have them on the menu). In conclusion, I recommend El Rincon de Mexico, but I personally prefer some of the other places in the area (Los Compadres, which is across the street, or El Pueblo de Paraiso, which is next door). read more

I've been coming to this place for years and the food is always delicious. I usually get tacos but they have a lot more authentic food. If you go to Taco Bell or Chipotle to try Mexican food, you're really missing out on some authentic Mexican dishes from this place. read more

I am from New Zealand, I went for a visit to Norristown, my family took me for a meal to this lovely Mexican decorated Taqueria, "EL RINCON DE MEXICO" or "MEXICAN MARKET" I was looked after the owners Elma & Salomon, they are such a nice couple, they were really friendly & hospitable, so welcoming. I loved the tacos de Carnitas, Asada, Cabeza, Zopes, Quesadillas, just yummy! Ensalada de NOPAL! All with the Mexican Authentic Flavour. The Chiles Rellenos are out of this World they are simple delicious. The desserts are: Flan, Pastel de tres leches & the refresco / drink de Guayaba simply decadent!! They also sell in their shop: Cheese with Mexican Flavour, Tortillas, chiles jalapeños, and everything is so incredibly cheap. read more

This place is DEFINITELY as good as it gets!! If you want REAL mexican food come here! This place aint no taco bell.. so if you were looking for an xxl chalupa or the grade F meat they provide.. go elsewhere! They are definitely closed on Mondays, and take cash only! Make sure to have cash because the nearest atm it at a pretty shady place that i would never like to enter again! As seen in uploaded photos, they give complimentary green and red salsa, as well as a bowl filled with (very spicy) veggies(peppers,carrots and onions). So, the food is FANTASTIC! We normally get the avacado dip to start, which is unreal! My favorite thing ever! Its amazing! It comes with freshly made chips. The bean dip was just okay for me..this one is hot and comes with grated cheese sprinkled ontop. My usual is a quesadilla, two chicken tacos(the gringo way.. lettuce, tomato, sour cream, grated cheese) which u can order plain or spicy. If you don't specify they will come out the traditional Mexican way with just cilantro and raw onion and a lime.. so make sure u tell them what u want! Also a tostado.. which you just must try for yourself! The quesadillas are unbelievably great! They use a special Mexican mozzarella cheese thats to die for! The owner of the restaurant also owns the produce place next door, so everything is really fresh! Parking is always annoying and the staff can be on the rude side, but the food is totally worth it! I went here for lunch on a Sunday afternoon by myself. This is a nice, comfortable little restaurant. The waitress was friendly and helpful. When I was there there was quiet music playing in the background. I ordered tacos - carnitas, chorizo, al pastor - served with onion, cilantro and lime. They were all terrific. Three bowls of condiments were brought to my table as well - a green salsa (spicy) a red salsa (less spicy) and marinated vegetables including peppers (watch out - can be very spicy if you get the peppers with seeds!). I felt really comfortable at this restaurant. The food was terrific and affordable (tacos $2 each). I'm going to go back and bring a friend so I can explore the menu further. read more

I have to say I lived in Mexico for the first 15 years of my life, and this place is the closest I've come to Mexican food, outside the homemade food my mother cooks everyday, is good to try someone else's cooking once in a while, although prices are a bit high, I believe the food is worth it. I highly recommend it, specially since now they accept credit cards. The servers are always very nice, but sometimes I think they need more than one server. Everyone should give this restaurant a try every person that I've recommended to this place they all have fell in love with the food. read more

Truly authentic Mexican cuisine in Norristown's "Little Mexico" DO NOT come here to order a burrito or chimichanga. Definitely order some tacos or sopes - al pastor, carnitas, and carne asada were all delicious. Try some Boing juice drink - guava flavor is my fav.
