We stopped there for dinner and the only thing I can say was worth eating, was the chips and cheese dip. I ordered Arroz Con Pollo w/a side of beans. It was COLD. My son ordered Chimichangas and they came burnt with black stuff hanging out of them. This is the worst Mexican food I have ever tasted. We told the waiter and he even didn't offer to do anything about it at all! So we paid for this cold burnt food, which we obviously didn't eat and we left! Given its location, I would say El Reparo is a good Mexican restuarant. We stopped by after a country drive and short visit to Metamora, and in need of comfort food and wamth, we choose El Reparo instead of some fast food chain. it was surpringly good. And fast!!! The chips weren't what I'm used to (in California), but were pretty good. Salsa was great. I had Chicken Enchiladas, which had some truly delicious chicken filling - fresh, moist, flavorful. My SO had the fajitas and said they were generous with fresh veggies. They even reduced the salt as per his request. Wonderful service and family friendly. Give it a shot! read more

El Reparo is a breath of fresh air in Brookville among many chains (luckily locally owns biz's are on the rise). Whenever I'm in the area with family and we decide to go out to eat, this is usually the place we'll go to. It accommodates parties and everyone's dietary restrictions (large sections for veggie options) and I've seen it be a great place for birthday parties as well. Service has always been great when I've been there. The chips and salsa served at the table are always a plus. I've had a few different veggie-based items and they have always been delicious. My wife ate at this restaurant a few weeks ago. I checked my credit card bill today and found out that the receipt I have which clearly states $19.50 (including tip), they charged me $20.00 on my credit card bill. There is no way an owner could mistype $19.50 and get $20.00 and then submit $20.00 to the credit card company without malicious intent. There is no excuse. The $0.50 may not seem to be a lot, but it's about the principal of the matter. I suggest you do not go to this restaurant, but if you do and use a credit card, check your statement carefully. read more

El Reparo is apparently the place to be on a Saturday night in Brookville. It was pretty busy, though not completely packed. We stopped by after a long day, since we heard it was open late (well, 10pm.) There were a few tables open but we opted to take the food back to our hotel. The menu is extensive, and yes, it's pretty typical Tex-Mex, but it is done well. Sweetie had a mushroom quesadilla which she liked and which smelled good to me (and I'm not even a big mushroom fan.) She also got a side of beans and rice. Now, these are simple, and easy to do well, but many places don't get them right. These were good- the beans were still individually recognizable, and their flavor with some cheese on top was good. The rice was seasoned just right, and wasn't overdone. I had the el Timbon- a deep-fried burrito with a taco salad. Yes, health food. The burrito was good, if a bit smaller than I expected. Nice crunchy outside, mildly seasoned ground beef inside. The salad was way better than I expected- fresh veggies, crispy, tasty shell, and another layer of beef. I wasn't even that hungry and I scarfed them down. I finished up with some flan. Another item that is pretty simple and hard to screw up, but still an occasional victim of mishandling, it was done just right here. I've been here a few times now and I have to say that it gets great marks in all categories for me. It's a small place in a small town, yet the service is friendly and prompt, the food is fresh and tasty, the drinks are reasonable and made well, and the prices are very reasonable. Everyone I've brought here has been happy. I really like sitting out on the patio. The fence and greenery along with the umbrellas makes for a relaxing time without the sunburn or the mundane view of the street. I will also say that the margaritas are some of the best I've had at a basic Mexican food restaurant in the Midwest. I love margaritas, but normally shy away from ordering them in these types of Mexican restaurants because they are typically cheap sour mix, badly combined. The margaritas here were a wonderful surprise. The food as well is fairly typical in nature for Mexican restaurants in the Midwest, but there is something about the freshness and preparation that sets it well above the others. One final note is that the salsa is delicious. It is fresh, vibrant, a tad spicy, and it makes me want to pour it on my food so it doesn't go to waste. read more

We've visited El Reparo in Rushville several times, and it's off the hook. Really outstanding. We love it. Twice while in Brookville, we've visited this one, and....at BEST, it's average. This is a great Mexican food restaurant! We love Mexican food all over the country and this place was great. The scratch made chips and salsa were superb. I love hot food and The salsa is mostly mild with a slight bit of warm. They had great habernero sauces available for heat. I ordered the manager special, a very large burrito stuffed with chicken and covered in cheese. It was luscious covering the entire plate. My lovely had the wet one, a burrito with almost an entire breast of chicken covered with lettuce and sour cream. She took half home! Working in Cincy, I can compare all the Mexican places to El Reparo - and I gotta' say... Brookville is fortunate to have such a great place. Especially at the prices!! I will go to lunch at some of the favored Mexican places in and around the northern/eastern beltway, and I constantly think to myself, "wow, this isn't even as good as El Reparo at 50% more expensive of a price!" I've probably eaten out at a thousand restaurants in my lifetime, all over the place, and my hometown El Reparo is right up in the top for the solid mix of good food, price, and friendly service. We've eaten at El Reparo at least once a month since they've opened (3 years now?). I tend to be a creature of habit, so I get a lot of the same things. I have never, ever once gotten a bad meal. The service is fantastic - always great. The team is really attentive and they are very friendly, especially with the regular customers. Felipe does a good job of keeping a handle on the place. I'm a big fan of the seafood enchilada verde... stuffed full of mixed seafood with the green verde enchilada sauce on top. I also alternate with the enchiladas supreme, which is always a good standby. Sometimes I will get the Compa Special, which is chicken, steak and chorizo with cheese and some soft tortillas. I'll also alternate between the stuffed poblano or sometimes add a shrimp quesadilla. For an excellent change of pace, I'll do the mixed seafood cocktail... squid, shrimp, scallops, chilled and served in a tangy tomato cocktail sauce with chunks of avocado. But the best part is the Mexican style soft tacos... MMMMMM!!! Grilled chicken, cilantro, and onion on a soft corn tortilla with some lime juice on top and hot sauce on the side!! The only other place in the entire area that I have found that comes close is the Taquiera Maya over in the Fields-Ertel Rd. area by the Auto Mall. There's social proof that this place rocks the house... it's always full for dinner - every night of the week that they're open. They've also got outdoor patio seating for the decent weather months, but I can't recall ever sitting out there. So if you're on your way to or from Brookville Lake, and decide that you've got a craving for some really good Mexican food, I am adamant that you will be pleased with El Reparo. read more

Received a $9 burrito that looked like, and was the same size as a$1.39 Taco Bell burrito. The ONLY time I've left a Mexican restaurant hungry. Service was terrible, had to get my own hot sauce, didn't bring tortillas with my wife's meal (she had to go up and ask as well) had to hunt down employee to get chips and salsa, and a bottle of beer that was twice what you'd pay in any decent restaurant. Had the enchiladas rancheras and they were very bland. Not much flavor or spice. The rice that came with enchiladas was pretty good. Chips and salsa were average as well. Once I got my food the server never came to my table again and they were not busy. Can't believe this place averages four stars! For the money, Taco Bell is just as good. read more
