This was such a beautiful hidden gem I ran up on . It's a bookstore/cafe and there was live music during my visit. I could've been there for hours but wanted to see more of the city. I enjoyed breakfast, did a bit of shopping (bought a puzzle), but mostly just chilled and listened to the music. It was a great mid morning stop on Condessa. read more

I have finally found the best place to work in the city, that has an awesome cafe with a full course food menu. Comfortable does not even do this restaurant justice, as there are a multitude of nice sofas, as well as regular table searing options. Speaking about the ambiance, this cafe also has so many different things to offer, including an awesome selection of reading materials. Nobody would ever become bored in this place. I sat on the second level and a Server came up to me to take my order right away. The menu is pretty extensive, and I finally decided on an order of tacos de arrachera which included queso, guacamole, onions, and napoles. If you have a short lunch break, avoid this place as if your life depended on it. I went and specifically said I had to be in and out for take out because I was on break. The lady said my half sandwich and soup would take ten minutes which was fine. 20 minutes later the waiter comes and asks what kind of bread I want - wtf? Shouldn't they have asked that first. My food took 30 minutes. On top of that, I had to absolutely fly out because they took so long and the lemonade I ordered that looked wrapped turned out to not be wrapped well so it spilled all over the damn sandwich so now here I am eating a soggy lemonadey sandwich that took 30 minutes to get with only 5 minutes before my next work meeting. Such a worthwhile stop! We would have breezed right past the innocuous looking entrance had we not been with a friend who remembered this wonderful bookstore/cafe. The lighting and atmosphere within the shop allows customers to browse, chat, order coffee and generally enjoy themselves. The oversized sand sifting pendulum either explains the name or was a convenient addition to an otherwise already awesome spot. read more

Cute bookstore/cafe if you're in the area and want to chill for a bit. The food I had in the cafe is nothing special, but did the job in a pinch. Seating areas are cozy and cute. The goat cheese salad app was good-the cheese was the star, everything else was meh. The Patatas bravas were covered in a good spicy sauce and would have been good, had they not been undercooked. I am not giving it 5 stars because I've had better food in CDMX but think this place is for a nice few hours to spend. Cool concept but the experience was just okay. It's a book store and restaurant so you get to eat lunch amongst books or if you're upstairs, amongst DVDs. I used to love this place, but today the food was terrible, as was the service. I ordered the tablita mexicana - the quesadillas were drenched in oil and not actually fried, the tlacoyos weren't actually cooked, the plate spelled like vomit, the lettuce was wilted. Everything came out cold. Awful experience. Even the kids' food was terrible. What a disappointment. Just came back after taking a break from this place. I ordered huevos en cazuela and they literally gave me a scrambled egg with cheese. What a fraud. I also saw them take jams off tables, put them in the little refrigerator and serve them again. I have been here three different times. Twice to study and once to meet someone for an interview. The atmosphere is nice for studying or holding a calm conversation. They have plenty of indoor and outdoor seating space as well as outlets for laptop or phone chargers. The last time I went, I tried their food for the first time. I was disappointed. I tried their vegan tacos and they were very average and did not have the best flavor. I would go back but just stick to the tea or coffee. read more

Great place to read a good book, enjoy a nice cappuccino and meet friends. The café is inside a bookstore, so you can basically pick up a book and start reading right there - exactly what I did! I paid $42 pesos for a cappuccino. The music on the background was very pleasant and the service was really good. I will difinitely go back to try the food! read more

Very nice structure. The food felt unauthentic. I had the green chilaquiles. The salsa taste was that of a true poring of a processed can. In addition, it took about 10 minutes for some to come over initially. I don't think I got my coffee till 20 mins latter. I was completely enjoying the view from upstairs but began to feel the passing of time and lack of customer service. Someone finally came over as I had decided to leave. Really really cool spot. The atmosphere is really cool & they have a great selection of books both in spanish & in english. Also, they have menus in english for those whose spanish is lacking. There are four Pendulo restaurant/bookstores in Mexico City and all are good, but this one is the best. I'm not sure what it is, just a style and atmosphere thing. They have a great selection of books, including a few shelves of English titles, and the choices are really fun. I love a good bookstore. Good coffee, pastries too, what's not to love? Food here is not to bad though a little expensive. My favorite is the tortilla soup. They make it with a bean base, which is unusual, but very good. On the side you have cheese and various side items to dump in your soup. Amazingly outstanding for like $3.50 US. This is just the coolest place. Recommended. read more

What a quirky, cute cafe bookstore! I visited this Condesa location after hitting up the Roma Pendulo for breakfast a few weeks ago. I liked the layout of this location, and the service was consistently excellent. I just stopped in for some early afternoon espresso. Pendulo is a little pricey, but whatever, I was in Condesa. I only ordered the espresso, and the server still served me some complimentary baguette with butter and marmalade. How sweet and unexpected! I'll definitely return for more when I'm back in DF. read more
