They were good, but just a tad too sweet. The consistency was good though. There was ample seating in the two story parlor, but it was a bit warm as if the air conditioning was having trouble keeping up. There were also TV screens playing the local news so it made for some fascinating watching. This place also had restrooms, which was a welcome sight after walking Palermo SoHo all afternoon. Tudor was a solid 4 star experience, but less sugar would help the flavors come through a little more. The restaurant itself was pretty nice too- great atmosphere albeit a little warm.

The Patagonia fruta was quite tasty, the dulce de leche was too sweet but very much had dulce de leche flavor. Persicco consistently makes lists summarizing the best helado in Buenos Aires. This sleek chain is…read morepart of the Freddo/Un Alta Volta family (each of these businesses having had the same principals, not necessarily at the same time). That being the case, I wasn't very impressed by the classic dulce de leche flavor. It was rich and sweet, a little too soft, but mostly just didn't have enough dulce de leche smokiness. Some of their other flavors were excellent. Try the Tramontana - with streaks of dulce de leche in a vanilla base, and chocolate-covered biscuit balls the size of almonds scattered throughout. I rarely go for fruity flavors, but the Merengatta was also terrific, extremely creamy (could it be mascarpone-based?) and swirled with fresh, bright-tasting strawberry. The doorknob to the ground floor restroom had broken off, so I felt like I was going to fall to my death when going up the spiral staircase to the other restrooms. Shoddy construction aside, the space is very bright and clean. Worth a visit? It shouldn't be first on your helado tour - especially considering that they're noticeably more expensive than other heladerias. But if you come across a Persicco branch while walking the city (and you probably will), definitely go in and try some of their signature flavors.

As soon as I tested this ice cream, I knew is great and I ordered a kilo. It is amazing! Favorites: Menta Granizada (chocolate chip mint), Lemon Pie and their Chocolate Amagro. Of course, I have not tried them all, but the lemon sorbet is top notch also. I have to avoid going there too often and, when I do, I have to put in a small dish. My fear is that I will eat out of the container and finish it all.
Could this be the best helado in San Telmo?…read more Across the board, the helado here was the best I tried in Buenos Aires - texture wasn't at all soft/foamy/icy, flavors were all there. We ended up getting: - Dulce de leche - Coco de dulce de leche - Irish cream - Sambayon with maraschino cherries Don't miss the first two: The classic dulce de leche was better than the versions at any of the many heladerias I visited. The coco de dulce was a really lovely twist, with bits of coconut and no artificial coconut flavor. The interior is very clean, almost disturbingly sleek. The staff didn't act like they'd rather be probed by aliens than selling ice cream (see: Sumo, Nonna Bianca). Worth a visit? Yes! But good luck catching them when they're actually open (visiting during winter, when area ice cream shops are only open a few hours a day, a few days a week, doesn't help).
