I'm a fan of the cuisine served at this chain of restaurants, so I had this place a couple times on my trip. I've eaten El Pollo Loco in California, Colorado, and Nevada. I ordered tostadas, burritos, tacos, and churros here. They were all delicious. The service was a bit slow though, and it could have been faster. This El Pollo Loco is one of the bests I've ever eaten at. The staff has always been friendly and don't complain when I ask for my dish to be modified. And when I ask for 10 avocado salsa's, they give me 10 and ask if I want more! I feel the partitions are a little bigger and the foot is always hot. I come in at least once a week. I've eaten here for 10 years without complaints. Lately though it's been a disappointment. Like others have said this is the only chicken restaurant that doesn't have chicken half the time. Yesterday after a 20 minute wait in the drive through I was told chicken would take 40 minutes. How could grilling chicken take 40 minutes. I understand Covid has caused lots of problems for the fast food industry, but the manager of this store needs to either fix the problem or find another career. I wonder if the owner is paying attention. Other restaurants have managed to maintain during this difficult time, but for some reason not El Pollo Loco. The location recently changed ownership and it is a night and day change. They repaired the old run down interior and spruced everything up. I had quit going there for a couple years ago but decided to stop by. Wow. Food was fresh and delicious. Customer service was great. BOOOOOO!!!!!!! First of all, the girl with her bright white hair working the window is out of control. She seemed rude while giving our order, and then when we pulled up she was full on pissed. When grabbing a cup to fill up our drink she aggressively pulled it out making several cups come up at once and some of them flying to the ground... she kicked them. Handed us our food and literally just said "here" . We asked for salsa and she was even more pissed. It was nuts. I don't know who pissed in her cereal this morning but it was intense. And then secondly; the food was atrocious. My salad had like half a cup of water at the bottom and the chicken was tough. My husbands burrito had close to no meat. I just visited visited this location and after taking my order at 2:51 Tara D informed me that they were closing at 3. It doesn't say this anywhere and I thought they would be open until 10 pm. My sister and I had her baby with us who was starving and angry as we are in the middle of a road trip. They turned off the lights on us and we were out of there at 3:09. I ordered a pollo bowl with NO RICE and as you can tell by the pictures....WHERE'S THE REST??? I've ordered the samething at other locations and they have filled it to the top with beans, not only that, but the chicken is not in chunks its almost gritty/shredded. El Pollo has always been one of my favorites of all time but not all locations are alike. This one is better than most places that I've been to and luckily it's super closed to my house so I come here a lot. I simply love their chicken, never get tired of it. The quality of it has always been great, delicious, tender and juicy (make sure you request to get fresh and juicy chicken). That's exactly what I do every time and never get disappointed. Their corn and mash potato are also very good, totally fresh, flavorful and tasty. Great staff, very friendly and helpful. My experience has always been pleasant and positive except for a few times where there were a couple pieces of chicken missing. I just realized it when I got home (it's not a big deal to me, I totally understand how busy it gets sometimes). I never actually tell them so I really hope they don't repeat their mistakes to other customers. Sometimes I ask for corn tortillas, they give me the original or forgot my salsa/avocado sauce but it's okay. I make sure I check my order before I leave to avoid that problem again. Pretty long wait for the food. We ordered a 12pc Chicken, they didn't have any ready... It was dinner time too! Had to wait a good 15-20 minutes. Obviously with the wait, you get hot and freshly made chicken. The chicken was perfectly seasoned and cooked. The tortillas, on the other hand, we like over cooked. They were dry and hard. They gave us 20 tortillas and literally ALL of them were broken. Also, because of Covid-19, the sauce bar is closed. They only gave us like 3 pico de gallo and 3 avocado salsas... we needed way more than that. I went to drive thru and ordered a quesadilla for $7.99, per the drive thru menu. When I went to pay, they said the price had increased by $2.00 and was now $9.99 (this was as she was giving me the quesadilla, not before or at the time of order). Even though the menu I ordered from did not reflect the increase, they refused to honor the advertised price. I indicated I wanted it for 7.99 not 9.99 and she said "okay", shut the window and allowed me to drive away without food. I will not go to this el pollo loco again. They don't adhere to their menu and apparently do not want or need customers. There was no one else in the drive thru. I wouldn't be surprised if they lack revenue to keep this location open. read more
