How can you not love this lil gem in the wall?!?! Not the most amazing location or decor for the matter but this place was more designed as a place to pick up your food then to dine in... sorry but it's true! Moving on, the grilled chicken is freaking delicious! It's well seasoned and the skin is crispy from the first bite! They always give you a whole package of tortillas which is nice I guess but I never eat it all.. the horchatas is delicious, one of the best I ever drank in that town.. I really don't have anything bad to say about this place.. cute lil gem that's definitely worth the try read more

Yum! Yum! Yum! It was so fresh and delicious! The grilled chicken was juicy and tender. Don't forget the rice and the salsa. It is located in a small strip mall but was packed with customers picking up orders. Can't wait to go back and try more of their menu! read more

People have no choice to buy just the chicken... pretty much you have to buy something that you don't want to buy

The chicken was supposed to be spicy, but didn't actually have flavor,it was very 1 dementional-like all chili powder,no salt or marinade. It was an ok place,I would try it again if I was in the area, but I wouldn't get the same type of chicken. read more

That place is FIRE!!! But you best speak Spanish. And their hours are hit and miss at the one on Lake St. When we went to the one on Galena they did not have Elotes, or guacamole! Two of the most important things! But when they do it's the best! The chicken tastes just like you did it on the grill! I could eat it twice a week!!! read more

Got the paqueta familia for dinner tonight. It was so much food that we will have leftovers for tomorrow. Comes with two roasted chickens, tortillas, salad, grilled jalapeños/cebollas, pico de gallo, arroz and frijoles. read more

The people were very nice and the food was great. I really recommend the regular chicken, and bbq. The place is just a very nice vibe!

Was recommended the mango wings and they were really good. The wings were crispy and they were a good size, and the sauce was very flavorful. read more

Really good chicken here really good tho they use this different method of not using charcoal they use wood and man those it give it different taste in a good way love how they got sides and sauces really good place for chicken literally hoping to make that drive again just for some good chicken read more

Best grilled chicken around. I don't know what they do to their rice and beans either but they are superior to all others. Do yourself a favor and try it! read more

Just finishing my to-go order. The location has about four tables but I took mine to-go. While there during lunch several Hispanic families came through and I was the only Gringo in the place. BIG MISTAKE by GRINGOS to not stop in. I ordered a 1/2 chicken with a pint of beans, rice, a package of heated corn tortillas, and a small container of salsa. It was $11 and FANTASTIC! A must stop and will be a part of my lunch rotation as a traveling salesman. read more

The best way to describe this place: The chicken is good... not great. Timing is everthing here. If you arrive and they are just taking the birds off the charcoal grill, they are moist and flavorful. If they are in the holding pattern and waiting to be sold...not so much! This is relevant as well to the pre packaged rice, beans etc, always in the holding pattern! The aroma of the grilled chicken from the exhaust fan as you arrive in the parking lot is incredible, and worthy of 5 stars alone! read more

The smell of the charcoal chicken is heavenly. This location is definitely more of a take out place, there are only 3 tables, so be prepared to take it to go. I went with my kiddies cause we were in the area and as soon as we opened the door---we were salivating! Not gonna lie the location does look a little sketchy cause it's in a strip mall, definitely a local type of place--theres nothing else really around the strip mall area. We ordered the whole chicken with all the fixins'--it included rice, beans, corn tortillas, salsa, roasted jalepenos and onions, and a side salad (the #4). The salsa was fresh and had a little kick to it--definitely complimented the chicken very well. The salad itself was nothing to get excited over--but the pickled red onions that were on top of the salad were excellent with the chicken. I thought the rice alone was on the bland side--but with the beans was great. The beans are whole and in a type of thicker gravy sauce--very tasty. Would definitely eat there again. Hooray for awesome chicken!!! The best way I can describe this is like being at the lake near montrose harbor in the summer time grilling away with the family and friends. Yum. read more

I have a theory. The more shit-holey a resto appears, The better the food. This is best apparent in Chinese joints. If any other cuisine was offered in the conditions of most Chinese restos, most folks wouldn't go near the place, let alone go in and chow down. But we do. Next in line are some Mexican places. There are mitigating circumstances, like most of the time you find yourself in one of these, it's the wee hours, and prolly on the downside of liberal consumption of adult beverages, and/or certain herbal smoking preparations. And other delights... But damned if the stuff they purvey doesn't hit the proverbial spot, especially Burritos the size of rugby balls. For example: I landed up in a highly-regarded but preternaturally ugly burrito joint, in a dodgy part of town, late one Christmas evening after playing a night of flaming Rock and Roll, with a snoot full-literally and figuratively. There were two very zaftig (but impeccably dressed) ladies sitting at the counter, and damned if they didn't scarf down 2 championship-sized burritos apiece. I couldn't finish one. Sometimes the floor show in shithole restos are as good as the food. But I digress. El Pollo Giro is not in the running for interior design of the year, and the little mall it's in isn't really attractive, either. The gal behind the counter barely speaks Ingles. But who cares? There are places to sit, but I ain't never saw anybody eating in. It's a takeout joint. There are a number of things on the Wall Menu, but none of it is available except the Asado Chicken. But that's enough. The Chicken is done up on a Charcoal grill. It's very very simple. And very very very good! You get tortillas and salsa in the most basic combo; and you can go up the ladder, adding rice and frijoles, cibollitos (roasted green bulb onions) and roasted jalapeños. Lettuce salad, corn-on-the-cob, and fries are all available as well. The whole chicken dinner with all the fixin's are a fine fine dinner with plenty to eat for 2, if you're hungry, and 3 if you're a lighter eater. For a while they were offering Tacos, which were splendid; but just as soon as they appeared they were gone. Recently another of the menu items came available, the Adobado Chicken. This is Chicken in a pretty spicy and quite delicious red sauce. The chicken is tender tender tender and all together fabulous. Readers of my wiseacrings here on Yelp might know chicken breast is one of the few foodstuffs I abjectly abhor. Well. The Adobado dark meat was el fabbo, and I saved the breast for last. The Adobado Chicken breast was moist and tasty, I couldn't believe I was digging it. I sopped up the red goodness at the bottom of the styro clamshell with the pieces of chix not wanting to miss a drop. Prices are fine for the quantity and quality you get, and the service is really quick. (there is almost always a line) You won't have any problem with the nice gal behind the counter, communication-wise. Have a green salad ready at home, and a coupla cold cervezas. Don't be afraid of the surroundings. You'll be assured of a fine fine feed... read more

Completely unprofessional and horrible service! We made a catering order for a holiday party, we paid ahead of time and told them we would pick it up before they closed the day of the party. And to our surprised the day of our holiday party they closed early did not call us to let us know and didn't even remember our order was due for that day. We stood outside for 15 mins calling knocking on the door and no one answered. Our holiday party end up having half the entrees we had planned due to the negligence of El Pollo Giró Staff and management. The following two days we called to understand what had happened and each time they told us a manager was unavailable to speak to us but they would call us back. We never received a call back, after waiting a couple days we headed to the restaurant in person and had to be extremely assertive for the staff and management to provide us a refund, there was no apology or acknowledgment of their horrible service. Not going back EVER! read more

This grilled chicken is ace. Been trying to find a spot like this since I left California! Rice and beans and salsa are great, but I prefer using my own tortillas haha. Overall, an excellent & healthier takeout dinner option in the area. read more

Good grilled chicken, good price, and even though some others don't like the sides, I think they are pretty good. There are only four booths in the place, but since I get takeout, it isn't an issue. Sometimes you have to wait 10 or 15 minutes for them to prepare it, but that just means it is fresh. The staff are friendly and helpful. read more

Food is amazing chicken has the perfect grilled tast and salad is always juicy . Love their salsa

Love the food here¡¡¡ been clients for long time! Would recommend it anytime. If you are in the Aurora area dont forget to swing by.

All I really have to say is YES. Yes please, yes now, yes more, yes wheel me home! The chicken is great. The smell will make you hungry 30 minutes after a big meal. There really is only a couple choices... chicken quesadilla, chicken nachos, half a chicken or a whole chicken. Get the chicken! The salsa is made fresh and delicious. The price is reasonable... about $7.50 for a half chicken with tortillas, salsa, beans, and rice. You will be full! Don't be chicken, go to this place! read more

Wow! I got the #5 and it is a lot of food. A fresh salad large enough for two, a container of Spanish rice, a container of re-fried beans, 12 corn tortillas, a smaller container of (somewhat watery but fresh and tasty) salsa, 5 or 6 huge fire roasted green onions, 2 large roasted jalapenos and, last but certainly not least, half a delicious chicken (mix of pieces which I pulled off the bone and put in the tortillas). All for 12.99! Everything was obviously made in house, well-seasoned and well-proportioned. Staff was friendly and their was a line of people waiting at 3pm on a Saturday. Service was quick so the wait was minimal. This is going to become a regular stop for me. Highly recommended. read more

This place used to be good until they started grilling the chicken with oil! I think they do this as the chicken comes out raw from the charcoal and they put it on a grill!!! This last time it was drenched in oil. There's another competitor not too far that is way better than this gross place! read more

super affordable and super delicious. Don't let the rugged locale keep you away. everyone is very friendly and the service is freaky fast. In addition, everything is cooked on the grill so also very healthy. It's light on the salt but still very flavorful! read more

I was drawn to this place mostly because of its name, which evoked fond memories of the El Pollo Loco chain, which is to chicken what In-N-Out is to burgers--mostly a West Coast food phenomena. Anyone who knows me or reads my reviews know I'm a whore for bone-in chicken, whether it's Greek, jerk, BBQ, or Mexican-style, as is El Pollo Giro's specialty. This place did not disappoint. While it's not the best chicken I ever had, they fire up some pretty damned good bird pieces. I received my food quick, and the chicken was fresh off the grill. The restaurant isn't much to look at, but the service is great, it's a warm atmosphere, and the prices are right. Next time I'm in the area, I'll try the beans and rice. Or maybe buy a soccer jersey, a rhinestone belt buckle, or quinceanera cake next door. read more

When the company I work for acquired a large property in downtown Aurora, my reaction was, sweet an excuse to eat at all those authentic tacorillas. I was not disappointed. The outside looked the part. Nothing fancy, just some sign's advertising their menu. I got five tacos and they where delicious. Lengua, and El Pastor! Tender meet and perfect small corn tortillas. Great salsas to add to the tacos. I have to go back here to sample more of the menu, but my first experience was brief and wonderful. read more

Delicious charcoal style chicken. They make it fresh so sometimes it can take a while for the food to be ready. Worth the time. Great price. Forget KFC or Popeyes!! The place is more of a carry out than a dine in. Friendly service. Great parking. read more

This is the chicken of my dreams! Full of flavor and tastes even better than a charcoal backyard bbq. You can see the cook preparing it right in front of your eyes, with a big meat cleaver to cut the bird into pieces for you. I crave it all the time. Don't get me wrong, that chicken is AWESOME! But the accompaniments are...how do I say this nicely...not. I tried their newest location on Lake Street in Melrose Park and I was so happy to finally find a good chicken place that served juicy, crispy, delicious bird. I was just disappointed by the beans, rice, salsa, and tortillas. Let me just briefly say this: hard and flavorless rice, boring beans, salt and garlic-less salsa, and dry, gray (although house made) tortillas. The service was fast and good, the restaurant was fairly clean, I just didn't like that the chicken's succulence was knocked down a peg because of bad friends, nah-I'm-sayin'? read more

The best chicken grilled chicken around! This has by far the best pollo al carbon around here, it's always seasoned just right and cooked fresh, of all the times we order from there it has never been dried or over cooked, the side of grilled onions and grilled jalapeños are great too, highly recommended. The decor of the place is simple but we eat from the for the food. The price is reasonable too read more

Chicken is good. Sides not the greatest. But is definitely a good meal. One of Auroras best kept secrets.
