I would describe them as a combination of classic and elevated Latin food. The vibe of the restaurant is very casual, but the presentation of many of the dishes takes it to another level. They also have a wide selection of beer and wine. I have had tacos, octopus, breakfast tacos, and tamales. Everything was flavorful and quite tasty. I will admit service was a little slow the last time I went, but given the weather and the fact that we weren't in a rush it wasn't a big deal. If you haven't been yet, you should go. The colorful presentation reminds me of Palette 22, and rumor has it they are expanding to the Ethiopian restaurant that closed next door. I hope that's true!

Comfortable small restaurant. We told our waiter this was our 1st time here, so he offered…read moresuggestions. Funny thing is just about everything he suggested was something I was thinking of getting & debating, so that made it harder to decide. We had a nice table by the window & it was a moderately busy evening by the time we finished dinner so noise level had picked up. They have a couple tables outside too. Waiter was not as attentive as needed for refilling water, but he was only 1 there tending to indoor tables. I decided to order the Mole short rib. Presentation on ALL dishes served was beautiful. My short rib was very small piece of meat, but it was SO tasty & no fatty meat was served, which I was happy about. The rice served under was delicious. Thoroughly enjoyed my selection. The 2nd recommended dish, my husband had which was the Lime & Cilantro chicken. Though it looked beautiful, the chicken itself was a "strange cut". He said it was sort of part of breast & maybe part of attached portion of thigh? He also was not happy that it had the joint & small bone (not expected) along with a fatty piece of skin attached. He said chicken did not have much flavor nor did the black beans, but he said the rice was delicious. He did finish the entire dinner but wasn't a WOW to make us go back from his perspective. And because menu is small choices, he didn't find anything else he would want to order. My friend ordered the other recommended dish, Tamales. She asked for an extra chicken Tamales, which the waiter explained it's 1 potato&corn and 1 chicken & reason there would be an up charge if she was adding 2nd chicken. you normally get a veggie Tamales & chicken Tamales. She was fine with that, but when the plate came out, only 2 not 3 as she & I expected, although my husband said, he understood that waiter was substituting the veggie for the chicken even though our friend wanted all 3 & said as much. I can't comment too much on her dish for flavor other than looking lovely, but not exactly what I envisioned. She did eat majority & took rest home. She said it was good. We ordered guacamole app which came with chips. I felt it was a bit small of a serving for both chips & guacamole. I didn't try it, but everyone said it was good. We passed on dessert, nothing super appealing, limited items. However, they should add plantains to the dessert selection as I was tempted to order, but no one else wanted any. Plantains were on the dinner sides menu and noticed them earlier. Would I go back? Maybe, but it would have to be if I was in the area, after 6p for the free parking in the lot across the street or on a weekend.

As a local business owner with over 20 years of experience serving customers, I understand how…read moreimportant customer service is. Unfortunately, my recent experiences at La Brasa have been very disappointing. The biggest issue has been the customer service. The person answering the phone has been consistently rude, has taken our orders incorrectly multiple times, and instead of trying to resolve mistakes professionally, argues with customers. That is simply not the level of respect or professionalism I expect from a business that has been part of the community for so many years. I have also noticed that the food quality has declined compared to what it used to be. It's disappointing because this restaurant once had an excellent reputation. I sincerely hope management addresses these concerns by improving customer service, training staff to communicate respectfully, and restoring the quality that made so many people loyal customers. I'd be happy to update my review if I see meaningful improvements.

The restaurant is located on the second floor of a "random" building, so it might be a bit difficult to find unless you are in the know. Although there were not many folks during my visit, the restaurant gives off a very strong Colombian flare. I originally stopped by to get a drink, but I ended up trying the caserito, which was sort of a combo meal. This meal included a delicious soup, a beer filet, beans, rice, and a small salad. It was quite the meal for only $14 bucks. I do not remember the name of the bean-based soup, but it was out of this world delicious. For $14 bucks, I thought the portions were quite generous. The service was pretty good. Since the bartender/waitress did not speak much English, dining here gave me the perfect opportunity to practice my Spanish. I definitely hope to return in the near future to try more items off of the menu and maaaaybe sing karaoke.

I forget the name of the sandwich, but it had eggs, chorizo, plantains, and something else that I cannot remember. Although I was a bit surprised the sandwich was around 8 bucks, I understood why when the sandwich came out because it was HUGE. Put it like this, the sandwich kept me full for a good 4-5 hours, so it definitely was worth the eight dollars. While waiting for my sandwich, curiosity got the best of me, and I ended up buying a few pastries for later. The sandwich, coffee, and four large pastries were about $16. Overall, I thought my sandwich was absolutely delicious...especially the bread/roll that it was served on/with. Like I said earlier, the sandwich was jammed packed with eggs, chorizo and plantains. Throughout the weekend, I tasted the pastries, and I thought all of the were pretty delicious. Unfortunately, I do not know which pastries I purchased because many were not labeled. To be honestly, I completely picked the pastries at random. One of the things that I enjoyed about the pastries: none of them were overly sweet. For me, they had just the right amount of sweetness, which might be considered bland for others. The bakery is kind of small, in terms of dining in, because it has about 2-3 small tables. However, the bakery seems more like a place to grab food (or pick up orders) and go. While eating, I was the only one who actually ate their food inside of the restaurant. I thought the two women behind the counter were exceptionally nice. Also, interacting with them gave me a chance to practice my Spanish. Overall, I thought this was a great random find, and I'm looking forward to returning and trying some more of their delicious pastries and other platos fuertes.

Tuesday 1/21/25 I…read morerandomly found out about this spot a few months ago while on TikTok. I heard A LOT of high praise for it, so now I'm trying it. The service experience was quite memorable and funny. There were differences in language barriers, but we still made it work out in the end. I was overwhelmed, to say the least, as I was completely new to the experience of a Spanish bakery, so I got suggestions from the workers, Yelp & Google, and what caught my eye. I ended up spending $43.20 total and got: Brazo gitanos $2.75, torta $3, pan de pina $1, steak egg and cheese sandwich $10.75, tipico platter $14, flan $5.50, pork & cheese pupusa $2.75, and chicken & cheese pupusa $3.50. Also, I was excited to try the tres leches, but they didn't have any at the time. - The brazo gitanos is like a pound cake with a cherry/strawberry swirl, and it was alright. - The torta was my favorite bakery item as it tasted the best, and was elevated further when I warmed it up. - The pan de pina is a Spanish pastry with pineapple "jam" in the center, and it was alright. - The steak egg and cheese sandwich was my favorite item. The Spanish bread paired well with the ingredients to create a great flavor with every bite. - The tipico platter was decent, but I wish I had gotten more portions of the chorizo because the portion I got was limited. One thing that makes it truly amazing is combining all of the platter items on their homemade tortillas to create a sensational taco of taste and flavor. - I'm not a fan of flan (it's alright), but theirs was pretty decent. - The pupusas (pork & cheese and chicken & cheese) were great, and they might just be the best pupusas I've had. Overall, I enjoyed my experience at El Sabor. I would recommend it and be open to returning (maybe next time they will have tres leches available).

The portions are pretty big, but considering the price, it's definitely not the best bargain in the area. Carne Asada de Res ($22) - Carne Asada, rice & beans, tostadas, and fried cheese. The beef was way overcooked--burnt and tough--which's a shame because it's otherwise flavorful. Overcooking the star of the dish like this just doesn't work. On the other hand, the rice and beans were amazing - easily the best I've ever had. Overall, it's nothing special. While the rice & beans were spectacular, it's disappointing that they were also the best part of the dish. That said, the servers were absolutely lovely - extremely friendly and even offered us samples of the drinks.
