The negative: I ordered Enchiladas Suizas (cheese enchiladas) topped with some meat, onions, and green peppers. The enchiladas were terrible. The meat on top was very fatty and I am pretty sure there was Velveeta cheese inside. It was the worst tasting cheese enchilada that I ever had. It tasted very BAD; definitely did not contain the Mexican cheese that is supposed to be in it! The positive: the service was great! read more

I've been here many, many times with family and friends alike, and I've never had anything less than a great experience. The food is always good, hot, and gets to you quick, the service is quick and staff friendly and attentive. The prices are very reasonable in my opinion. My go to order is always the chimichangas deluxe with an order of beans. You never leave here hungry! read more

Out on a Saturday drive through the hills of east TN and decided to stop here after reading the reviews. I'm so glad that we did as this was the best Mexican food I've ever had. My fiancé eats Mexican almost everyday for lunch and he was very impressed with the quality of the food here as well. The food is fresh, not greasy and the service was excellent!! We just moved to the area and El Patron was the first eatery we tried! First thing you notice is that the restaurant is attached to a car wash! Okay, I've ate at worse locations for sure, no problem! It was shortly after the lunch rush during the week but their lunch menu goes until 3 so we were in luck! The service was great, didn't have to ask for refills on our drinks, they magically appeared the portions are huge, the ingredients fresh! And boy are they quick!! They definitely aren't "authentic" Mexican food but they are one of the better Mexican American places I've tried in Tennessee! We'll be back for sure!! read more

We found this place after climbing at The Obed. From the outside, it doesn't look like much -- it's located next to a carwash, but it definitely hit the spot! There were several other groups (it was a Saturday evening), but we were able to be seated promptly. The place looks clean and there were a number of larger tables that could accommodate larger groups. Since there were 4 of us, we chose to sit in a booth. They also had some TVs around the restaurant, so we could catch some of the UT game. Shortly after they seated us, they brought around some chips and salsa. We were famished and quickly devoured the chips and salsa, but they were quick to bring around more! The menu is pretty extensive (just note that they only have beer here. No margaritas...). There are the usual suspects, like tacos, burritos, fajitas, chimichangas, etc. They even had tortas on the menu! Their portion sizes were incredibly generous! The food comes with rice, beans, some lettuce, and a little bit of guac. Depending on what you order, they'll also provide tortillas. I ordered the carnitas, and was underwhelmed. It seemed a little bit underseasoned, but I added the salsa to give it some extra flavor. My boyfriend ordered the 3-meat fajita and that was delicious! The meats were very well seasoned and came out on a sizzling plate, so it kept that chared flavor. I also ended up mixing some of his meat with my carnitas to amp up the flavor of my dish. I'm going to keep this place on my list of places to eat after a day of climbing at The Obed! read more

We stumbled on this restaurant while driving through the area on a Sunday. All the cars outside this business in an otherwise quiet town tipped us off to this popular local haunt. We were not disappointed by the Mexican fare we selected. Salsa and chips were on par with much higher end locations and all our dishes were well prepared and generously portioned. The locals were friendly and quick to recommend their favorite dishes. The restaurant was clean and the wait staff attentive. Would eat there again. read more

Excellent food, decent service, great prices. While not authentic per se, the restaurant has an extensive menu of American Mexican options and the food is excellent. No margaritas, but the selection of Mexican beers is pretty decent. Everything is fresh, prepared well, and seasoned wonderfully. Even their guacamole is fresh and delicious. I eat here everytime I visit the Obed, and I have never had a bad meal. And the prices are great! read more

Never had bad food here. Service is really good, prices are good and food is always hot and fresh. The manager is very nice and is always there to greet you. No liquor sales but you can enjoy a nice cold beer with your food if you desire. read more
