For a guy that has been traveling for the past 15 years I have managed to see a lot of great Mexican restaurants including both San Diego and Texas but this one is definitely in the top 1% of best Mexican restaurants I have ever eaten at. Our servers name was Pedro who was new and my goodness he was nice and helpful. He made us laugh and didn't overdue or under due his attention to us. He was there anytime we needed him and was really knowledgeable of the food. The food and service was phenomenal and they serve draft beers in 32oz mugs! I had two huge burritos and they had a live singer with some great country music on a Friday night. The ambiance was very family oriented and our food came out so quickly! Isaia did a really good job. We're regulars and tonight was Mother's Day. The restaurant was slammed. And despite every spot being filled we waited and squished into a booth (5 of us). So many great things to say The chips are thin and crispy. The chips taste good with the bean dip I prefer vegetables and there are several choices that I like. Usually I get the vegetable fajitas. We're out-of-towners so this was our first visit. Excellent service and excellent food. Thinnest , crispiest chips served with good salsa and also very good bean dip with a dollop of queso in it. We were going to order queso but the bean dip was so good we didn't bother. I had the chicken chimichanga- the white meat was moist and tasty- very good. AMAZING FOOD!! Get the birria tacos or the quesabirrias!! They each come with three and the tacos were FULL of delicious birria meat! Me and two friends split two plates, we each got a taco and a quesabirria and it was delicious! Very filling!! It also came with pretty good rice and beans and of course, chips, salsa, and bean dip for the table. Service was pretty good! We were sat immediately, within 5 minutes our chips and salsa came, and then we ordered drinks. Aesthetically pleasing. Love the umbrellas hanging from the ceiling. They have $1.25 beef or chicken tacos all day on tuesdays. And it looks like they have a version of a walking birria taco (birria taco meat in a tostitos bag.) Cheese dip was outstanding and salsa to match!!! Started to Cancun across from Los Toritos and for some reason got back in the car and went to Los Toritos . So very glad we did. Husband had beef nachos and gave them a big. I had the enchilada plate with cheese chicken and beef enchilada. Oh my, it was wonderful. The food is average...typical Mexican being nothing special. The atmosphere is subpar at best. The service isn't good. We weren't greeted upon entering. We seated ourselves. We did receive menus quickly and the waitress took our order. We got our drinks which tasted like dishwater. We then asked for something different to drink. We received our queso with no chips. Had to ask for the chips. Still no drinks. Our food came out quickly...still no drinks. Drinks were delivered to another table while we had food and nothing to drink. We had to ask again. Finally drinks came out. We weren't checked on again. We left. Will not go back when in Crossville. There's too much good competition. It will surprise me if it survives 2023. read more

My youngest son has been telling the wife and I we needed to try Los Toritos for quite some time now. Went this weekend and it was the first place in a LONG time that surpassed me expectations. I had the tongue tacos and they were fantastic. My son had a California Burrito that he said was very good, and very large. The wife had standard taco's (not a huge Tex-Mex fan), but she finished her plate, which is unusual. Service was great, despite quite a crowd. Wow what a great place to eat at. I have eaten at the Cancun restaurant across the road from Los Toritos and there is no comparison between the two. I will eat at Los Toritos every time. I lived on the border of Mexico for over 40 years and know real mexican food from chain Mexican food. While traveling across country we are staying the night in Crossville TN. The chain Cancun mex food on one side of the road and Los Toritos on the other side of the road. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE choose Los Toritos. We did take out since we have our dog with us and must say the food at Los Toritos was some of the best Mexican food I have had ! I know authentic Mexican food and this really was delicious !!!! Stayed in Crossville for a work trip to Knoxville and stopped due to rain. This was recommended by the front desk. Went for lunch, asked to sit at the bar and the hostess/waitress seemed annoyed but sat us anyway. Service was horrible, the server seemed annoyed with us and wasn't polite or attentive at all. The margarita was pre made with little to no alcohol, the lunch portions are small but enough. The taco salad was flavorless...had the ground beef. Maybe chicken would be better. Well...the constant hammering after we sat down was a little unnerving. After a while I determined it was chopping coming from the kitchen. Sound proofing would help the dining area immensely. Food is always good, service is decent based on who you get, tonight we had a girl named Nelly (never introduce herself) who seemed annoyed with us as soon as she approached us, very rude and had an awful attitude, came to our table only to drop food and drinks off and the check, when trying to get her attention to order dessert nothing was working so my husband whistled to get her attention, as she came to our table I asked her if I could order a dessert but that wasn't concerning to her only how we needed to raise our hand next time we wanted something and to not whistle at her like a dog, i apologized and told her I didn't know her name and she walked off to get my dessert, as she came back with the dessert she still proceed to argue with us about how "I'm not a dog", "next time raise your hand", and just very argumentative over something that seemed to be corrected the first time when the apology was given, I was so upset with how rude she was to us that I couldn't enjoy my dessert, the manger I'm assuming came to me and asked what the problem was as she heard I wanted the dessert taking off the bill and I told her, she offered me a discount which I told her I enjoyed the food so there was no need but she still gave it to us anyways. I love this place and the food but someone who is so full of themself shouldn't be working around such an environment. I probably will not be back for awhile with the bad customers service I received since I'm sure she will not be in trouble for her ugly behavior anyways, my recommendation is to wear a name tag or be decent enough to introduce yourself and actually take care of your guest as they where your family and maybe you'd make a lot more better tips because having a piss poor attitude will not get you a very good one. It was the first time dining at Los Toritos. The tortilla chips & fresh salsa were excellent. I ordered the chicken quesadilla from the lunch menu & the portion size was skimpy & quite bland compared to other local Mexican restaurants. I ate the whole thing, and always take half of my meal home when I eat at other Mexican restaurants. They served a small-sized flour tortilla instead of the larger size. The first thing that came to mind was "Where's the chicken?" I was also disappointed that the "so-called" salad contained about a quarter of a cup of chopped iceberg lettuce & approximately one tablespoon of pico de gallo & guacamole. When my meal was delivered, I asked for a small container of sour cream & was shocked that I was charged $.95. The kicker was when I ordered a take-out meal for my husband & was charged an extra $1.00. Needless to say, I WON'T patronize Los Toritos again. read more

We've been eating here for awhile. The atmosphere has leveled up recently. Normally we get the California Burrito and love it. My daughter(10) gets Taco Suave and really likes it. Last visit I changed it up and I swear the dish I got tasted like fabric softener smells. No big deal they were kind enough to take it off my tab. This time I got the quesadilla supreme to sample the different meats, as I've found some of the local restaurants are very lacking in flavor. To my shock and awe my favorite, husband too, the chicken was my favorite. I've never been a chicken at Mexican restaurant fan because it's usually dry like the Sahara desert but when I tell you it was not only juicy but even left an amazing aftertaste in my mouth ... shrimp was shrimp, not fishy or bad but great, still love the steak, and the ground beef was meh (still far better than other places around here) so on a 1 (doesn't get any worse) to a 10 (doesn't get better) scale here's my food breakdown...
