Monster burrito! Yes, share it! It is big enough for two! So good!
Casey E.

Found El Patron through an IG reel! The food was AMAZING, the team was so friendly and accommodating... can't wait to go back on. Friday or Saturday night and try their margaritas!

Fast service! Friendly staff! Food was delicious! Kids meals are a large size! Can't wait to come back.

Part of the extensive menu

First time here and we were sold. Located off a major highway in Garland, this new location is very easily accessible and has plenty of private parking for their customers. The restaurant is very spacious and clean. You order at the counter as you look onto a printed menu. Since there is no signage saying "Order Here" and since we didn't see a menu up on the wall, we assumed we had to sit and order. However, the staff flagged us down and gave us instructions. It's uncomfortable to stand at the counter, stare at an extensive menu you haven't seen before, and feel rushed to order when there is a line of people standing behind you in line waiting their turn. I ordered a tripita taco - they have fajitas, pork, trompo style and barbacoa (from what I remember). The tripitas were cooked perfectly and tasted great! I also ordered one trompo sope and it was also to die for. Crisped perfectly and topped generously, it was amazing. Husband ordered the posole which he likes and our son has a torta (forgot what kind) but I know he liked it. For dessert, we had stuffed cajeta churros that they sell from "The Churro Factory" and oh.my! Glad we made that decision. Prices are reasonable and can't wait to return to try something different!

Chicharrone and barbacoa tacos!

I don't know how I missed this place before but it is now my favorite taco place. You walk up to a bar to order your food. They have drinks and beers in a cooler next to the counter. They have a variety of plates or if you'd prefer, single tacos. We ordered barbacoa, trompo, and chicharrone tacos. Soon after we ordered, we realized that they offer the elusive horchata! The woman who took our order gave us plate, which they have chips available for free. On the opposite side of the wall, there is a condiments bar full of taco fixings and sauces. The food came out within 10 minutes of sitting down and all of the tacos were consumed shortly after. I wished I ordered the trompo because they spices on the tromp is impeccable!

I thought the pozole was excellent. I also had a al pastor taco that was great. The chips and salsa were also on point. Would highly recommend and will definitely be back!

Food was bland and without love. Beans were runny. Normally when I order beef tacos it's some sort of fajita steak but they served ground beef. The tortillas weren't toasted. Chicken was dry and unseasoned. I threw it away and counted it as a loss.

La patrona. Pastor was horrible and thick

Our go-to place for barbacoa and menudo. If you're looking for something different, try the tlaquepaque sauce.

The service here could be better but the food is still spot on! I stop by this restaurant any time I visit my parents in the land of Gar.

We were very pleasantly surprised. It's even better in my opinion. The people are very warm and friendly. The food is really delicious. I love that they bring not only good salsa with their fresh hot chips, but also a tomatillo sauce and a black bean dip. We've now eaten there several times. The taco meat has a nicely charred flavor. The tamales were very good. (I'm picky about my tamales. I've tried their ranchero sauce, chili con carne, and sour cream sauce. None of them disappoint. Their rice isn't dry like it is at many other Tex-Mex places. And their $5.00 all day frozen margaritas are worth it. We usually go for the lunch specials that run until 4:00. They don't have mole on the menu, yet. I'm looking forward to their future specials. In this day and age where it's hard to keep a restaurant open, I really hope this one survives. It's not fancy, but the food and service make it worth it. And I'm a picky person when it comes to spending money on food I don't make myself.

We have been to some nicer hole-in-the-wall restaurants, that we liked better, and felt more at home. The conference room chairs are uncomfortable, along with the flat decor with loud colors. Unfortunately, since the ownership change, the experience just hasn't been the same. The customer service is still decent, and I genuinely enjoy their spicy Mexican martini -- that's honestly the main reason I still stop by. However, the food quality has noticeably declined. Over the past year, I've experienced stomach issues after eating here, which had never happened to me before under the previous ownership. I'm not sure if it's a change in ingredients, preparation methods, or sourcing, but something is clearly different. It's disappointing because this used to be a go-to spot. I truly hope the new management takes a closer look at the food quality and consistency. There's a strong history here, and it would be great to see it restored.

We've gone three times and each time we've gotten the same items. Quality and taste never changed- on one occasion we went pretty close to their closing time and STILL...great quality and service. Definitely a recommend!

The tables are normal height, meaning for somebody in a power wheelchair like myself, it was a tight fit. They didn't speak english but that's fine and I managed. I got a full meal for 10$. 3 tacos (pick any 3 from their quite big menu options), along with a side of rice and beans, and some onions and lime to add to the tacos. I got a potato and scrambled egg taco, a ham and scrambled egg taco, and a chorizo and scrambled egg taco. The potato and the ham ones were good, although the chorizo wasn't my favorite. It was pretty early so I obviously went breakfast with my choices, but they had a variety of options ranging from barbacoa to chicken. Their creamy hot sauce was really good, although the red sauce was too thin for my taste. I'll be back again to try some of the non-breakfast tacos.
