We've tried this place twice now, the service is okay. The restaurant its self is blah. The booth we were seated at was dirty, the was crumbs and a piece of chip in/on the seat. The food, I don't know, just taste off. Like I don't know, something weird added or maybe just dirty like the booth. We will not be back. Which is sad because we love Mexican food. We decided to try a local non chain Mexican restaurant. We were greeted and sat quickly as the restaurant wasn't exceptionally busy. The house margarita was okay, thankfully I had lime wedges to add to it as it was not the best mixer, too sweet. The food was decent but as per most Mexican places except a few my hubby and son's were covered in queso. It probably was a good thing as the steak street tacos and my son's burrito were a little dry. There are plenty of different salsas to suit any one's heat tolerance. The best Mexican place we have been to in a long time. Food is awesome and the service is great. I like that you can choose and get your own salsa. I would give this establishment a higher score but 5 is the highest it goes. I always order carnitas at every place I visit and theirs were not bland as the other restaurants I have been to in Simpsonville. If you do not have this on your list of restaurants to visit you should add it. It will become your most favorite Mexican restaurant. read more

This used be be a good place to eat. The quality and the way it is served has gone down hill greatly.. Orders are wrong often. Had tortilla soup it came out lukewarm chips in the soup were soggy. Returned soup all they did was grabbed the soggy tortilla strips out of the soup and brought back the now cold tortilla soup... Another time was supposed to be a steak quesadilla. Served chicken quesadilla. Returned it, all they did was scraped the chicken out (along with the cheese) and put the steak in the quesadilla, now we have a cold quesadilla with no cheese and bits of chicken. Also had a chicken burrito with the salad on top. The salad was soaking wet and the poor burrito needed a lifesaver to swim in the water that collected on the plate. The salad made the burrito soggy an inedible... You basically have the food thrown down in front of you.. Used to be great. Don't know if the main cook in the back left. The owner needs to evaluate if he wants to stay in business because at this rate it's not looking good. Easy parking and great restaurant. Terrible experience! Seated at 5.30, 5 kids 4 adults. Our drinks arrived at 5.50 and first orders of food at 6.20 and final order of food 6.30! And the final order was wrong! When we got there we waited to be sat for about 10 minutes. When we finally got noticed the waiter that approached us was indifferent of where we sat. We ordered aguas frescas, horchata and agua de melón, they had no flavor what so ever. We also ordered a drink TWICE WITHOUT ice and both of the times there was more ice than beverage. After ordering our food it came at a fairly amount of time but, half of the food came out way before the rest of it did. The tortillas for the food came after we had already eaten half of the meal. They waiter as a person was nice but the service was bad. I wouldn't not recommend if you are looking for good service. The food wasn't that bad. read more

Loved the vegetarian burrito. Whole family enjoyed it. Picked up to take home. Don't expect the same menu as most other Mexican restaurants.

I don't know that I ever expected some of the best guacamole to come out of this little place, but I was pleasantly surprised. El Patron is a little gem, which I greatly enjoy when we dine there with our friends. If you are a fan of guacamole, this place has some top-notch, chunky guacamole. It is easily five-star worthy. Luckily, they have some other good dishes too. The carnitas are quite good, and you can't go wrong with their enchiladas. The only disappointing thing I had was the taco salad. I was a little sad that you could only get chicken or ground beef. It would be nice if they have some sort of option for fajita meat on a salad. This location in Fountain Inn is a little small, but it's not overly crowded and has decent parking. Each time I've been, service was very friendly and quick. And, of course, portions are large and the prices are quite reasonable. This is definitely a solid spot for Mexican food in Fountain Inn. read more

Here we go! Love me some carnitas at El Patron in Fountain Inn! If you enjoy tender properly prepared Mexican pork, you really must try the carnitas plate. This is my most favorite dish, and of course - you have to order the chunky guacamole. I didn't order a Texas Margarita this visit, but normally I do enjoy this delicious cocktail. This Mexican restaurant is hidden in the small town of fountain inn. Steak quesadilla is what I always order when I eat at a Mexican restaurant. Out of all the Mexicans restaurants I have eaten, this place, el patron in fountain inn has by far the best tasting steak quesadilla. The beef is the key, I think the sauce that they marinated in was what made it stand out. I have not tried their other selections but I'm pretty sure it's great, too. I just love steak quesadilla too much to try other stuff. Next time you are near fountain inn and you like steak quesadilla, you have to stop by and give it a try. We came last night and the place wasn't necessarily busy at all. We had a large party, but it took a good while to get our food, the plates were switched around, random cheese dips came out and after we had eaten some of it, when asked who ordered it we all shrugged and the waiter took it back... I also waited for a simple beer for about 10 minutes before having to remind the waiter that I needed one. Chips were stale at first and we asked for new ones that were definitely better. The price was good, there was a special for 2 entrees and an appetizer for 20 bucks. The food was pretty good too. I like that there is a salsa bar. Most Mexican restaurants are bad about giving you enough salsa, so that kept us happy and filled us up while we waited for our food. I looked on Google to find a Mexican restaurant to go eat and get some drinks. When I looked up El Patron it said it was open till 11 so I figured it would give me plenty of time on a Friday. The bartender Autumn was extremely nice and accommodating but what seemed like the manager was extremely rude. They kicked us out before 10 on a Friday night which I would think would lose alot of money. We weren't the only ones they rudely said we needed to close our tabs out and go. This has got to be the worst Mexican food I've ever had... I tried this place one time before and it was absolutely terrible. I took one bite of my burrito and sent it back because it was ice cold. They brought it back and it had turned to mush because they microwaved it. I sent it back again and told them no thanks I would not eat. I thought that I would try it again because it is so close to my home. This time I ordered a different type of burrito. It was warm this time but tasted like medicine. We ordered cheese dip and waited forever for chips. I had to go up to the bar and ask for some. Their salsas suck. With all of the other Mexican food options, we will not be back to this place. Given the current #socialdistancing my husband and I went for a drive. We ended up in Fountain Inn and grabbed dinner for our family while out. We placed our order at the front door waited in the parking lot and had our dinner in about 10 minutes. Everything was delicious. We got the shrimp tacos, enchiladas and burritos. Pros: Good food, great location, friendly employees, good prices. Cons: The margaritas are not drinkable. Sent back my first drink, then asked them if they could make a margarita not using a mix, and they were perplexed. Luckily Sathe the bartender next door at Orions makes a killer margarita! read more
