Patron Restaurant offers delectable food and excellent service, albeit at a premium price. It's an ideal choice for guests staying at Villa del Arco who prefer to stay within the premises. The restaurant provides both indoor and outdoor seating options, but I highly recommend dining indoors to avoid the pesky flies that can be a nuisance and because their air conditioning is strong and great break from the hot humid weather. My brother-in-law thoroughly enjoyed the breakfast buffet, which showcased a delightful array of Mexican dishes alongside traditional American fare. The food is superb and the view is aesthetically pleasing to the eyes. There is not a spot in this restaurant with a bad view. The service is excellent they did not leave any stones unturned when it comes to service. I came for breakfast, brunch and dinner. The guacamole is prepared daily fresh. The breakfast and brunch is buffet style with an egg and omelette bar. For dinner I had the catch of the day which was Sea bass. The flavor of the sea bass was fabulous! Their cocktails are great. With the panoramic view, you get to see the cruise lines and private yachts dock nearby. I enjoy eating here everyday. read more

We had arranged a 7 pm rez, and we're asked to wait when we arrived for them to 'set up our table' - fine. But then they proceeded to seat 4 parties while we were waiting, wasn't thrilled with that, and we were seated at what seemed like the worst table in the place - right by the loud reception area, next to a large group with literally screaming small children. Our order of salads (3 put of 5) and ceviche (2 out of 5) took an hour and 10 minutes to arrive - dishes that require no cooking, only cold station assembly. What a beautiful way to spend Easter breakfeast. The food was delicious, the service impeccable. The staff made us feel so celebrated. Liz personally came to our table to make sure everything was to our liking. Most buffets in my opinion are self service. Carmen came to our table and asked what else did we need. Located in the high-end Villa del Arco Beach Resort & Spa in Cabo San Lucas, El Patron translates into "The Boss" in English and serves elevated authentic Mexican cuisine. Overlooking the Sea of Cortez with a view of the landmark El Arco, El Patron Mexican Bistro is on the ground level of the resort overlooking the Pacific Ocean, while Neptune Seafood, in which we dined the evening before, resides upstairs. There is both indoor and outdoor dining as they have a main dining room with a live piano player and a huge patio overlooking the beach with the ocean waves crashing below. We sat outdoors this evening and be forewarned the bug situation was pretty intense even at night. Our server Marlene was a little off with her service, as she somehow managed to take away our menus before we finished ordering. With me being the good Yelper that I was, I had already taken pictures of their menu so I just referred to my phone, but what an inconvenience! El Patron is one of just three main restaurants that reside in the The Villas Resort Complex and it's one that focuses on cuisine of our host country. To start our meal off, I got the house mojito which thankfully was allowed for no additional charge on their cocktail menu because it was a part of their all-inclusive dining plan. Each of us ordered a couple of dishes on their Mexican Tidbits menu, as I ordered the Beef Gorditas, which were made with handmade masa, beans, green salsa and sour cream. And under the soup section of the menu, I ordered the Tortilla Soup, which was topped with tortillas strips, panela cheese, avocado, sour cream and guajillo chile. For my entrée, I ordered from the Chef Salas' Baja Specialties section of their menu the Yenekamu Surf & Turf which featured grilled skirt steak. shrimp, potato puree, mushroom bean sauté with epazote. Others in my party ordered their Miraflores Ceviche, Homemade Tamales, the special beet salad and enchiladas. I really liked my steak dish as it was prepared really well and had a high-end presentation to all of their dishes. The fava and black beans that came with multiple dishes were a little too al dente for me. And for dessert, we decided to order a variety of options that they offered including their Churros served with rice ice cream and hot chocolate; their Milk & Lime Charlotte served with Veracruz vanilla, burnt caramel and fried bananas, and their Artisanal Chocolate Cheesecake served with mango compote, pasilla chile and lemon curd. It was the perfect way to end the most elegant meal we had while in Cabo. El Patron Mexican Bistro is the perfect place for those looking for traditional Mexican cuisine with a more contemporary twist. There's a relaxing ambiance out on their terrace, the rampant bug infestation that they still haven't figured out how to combat, that is perfect for both couples and families alike, and like Bella California in the Villa del Palmar resort next door, this space doubles as their breakfast buffet for resort guests during the day. My husband and I had few meals here while our stay at Villa Del Arco. The first day we got there late afternoon so we wanted to snack on some Tacos and Guac and It was so good!! the carne asada tacos were on point. One thing I did not like about this place was service. The first day we were rushed!! they close by 6 to set up for dinner and we were there by 5:20-5:30 to grab some food because we just got there and that was the only open place. So we decided to get food here. The server was rushing us, almost asking us not to stay because they have to set up for dinner when there were other people sitting and barely getting their food. I also had that experience while at breakfast, We were rushed to leave and that is not acceptable! Food for breakfast, I would recommend going to Bella California since you can use your wristband there as well. Their food here was outstanding though. I think this was my favorite from all the restaurants we went in the resort during our stay. The melted potato with meat and veggies was amazing. The seafood pasta was really good too. The tacos and Guac were something else though! for dinner we had their chorros as a dessert and they were good!! Ambience is nice, you have beach view and you can hear the noise. Right off the beach at the Villa del Arco resort, you'll find el Patron. When we arrived, we were escorted to a table in a nearly empty restaurant after being told we could be "squeezed in." Most of the patrons seemed to be guests at the resort, accounting for the many available tables after 7:30pm. Of note, do not make reservations through Villa del Arco for the resort restaurants or any of the other restaurants in Cabo... they're just salespeople for the time shares, and often the reservations never even go through. The inside of El Patron looks like a mixture of a hip grandmother's house and a classic Mexican spot. The staff are very attentive and friendly, and the beverages were fantastic. I ordered rosé, and was given a taste of three local wines before selecting mine. The margaritas were gigantic, nearly the size of each out our heads. We had ceviche and aguachile, very tasty. For an entree, I enjoyed the enchiladas suizas. We were so surprised by how good the food was here, as we weren't expecting the resort-associated restaurant to be so tasty. If you're staying nearby, I recommend El Patron. Beware, the prices are tailored to the American clientele, not quite as appealing as the restaurants deeper into town. read more

A bad customer experience negates all the good experience you had. That's what my family's stay at this resort boiled down to. We booked 3 all inclusive room paying $7K+. We wanted to enjoy a good drink so we went to their El Patron restaurant bar and ordered 3 margaritas with a premium tequila. They offered us one with selección suprema de herradura tequila and showed $50 on screen, we thought that was reasonable for 3 drinks. But turns out it was $53 per drink, I have never paid this much for a margarita served on a plastic glass poolside even at 7 star hotels. This was completely scam/ripoff, but front desk said they can not help because it was restaurant transaction, restaurant just blamed it on us even though they did not explain and confirm the charge until they delivered the drinks poolside. I would suggest just look elsewhere for a hassle free, secure vacation. If you have already booked here be careful on what you order and check charges carefully. read more

Had the breakfast here once with the all- inclusive. Food was ok. The experience the day after withtout the all-inclusive was pretty bad. The hostess refused to seat us outside even though there were at least 5 vacant tables. The manager Felipe backed her up with more BS. Probably their business model is to cater nicely to only timeshare or all- inclusive customers. The good thing was that because of this incident we ended up taking a water taxi to the marina for breakfast. When we got there, after 8:00 for dinner, a couple before us had a reservation for 8. They had been waiting for the hostess for a while. Finally, at 8:20 the hostess comes and seats them (there were plenty of free tables as well). They had a reservation! They were frustrated too. They were talking about just going to get tacos instead since they had to wait likely over 20 minutes to get seated. I contemplated going to a different restaurant because if they had to wait 20 minutes just to get the hostess' attention, how long would we have to wait after? The hostess sat them and we were sat about 10-15 minutes after. It took long to get menus, orders in, and food delivered. They asked if we wanted dessert. It is worth taking the trolley over each morning to have breakfast here - my favorite breakfast item was the Sea of Cortez Burritos. I could have ordered those every morning. I wasn't impressed with their breakfast buffet but it's a good option if you're in a hurry. For dinner I ordered the lobster dish - everyone at dinner voted it the best meal of the table. For dessert I ordered a flambé banana dish. Note: in Mexico when they say bananas they mean plantains (a distinct flavor difference!) Overall we were very happy with our meals here. We had breakfast here every day of our vacation and it was the perfect way to start the day. Fresh fruit, tons of bakery choices, nice hot items like chilaquiles and made to order eggs. I usually don't expect much from the restaurants at all-inclusive resorts, but this restaurant is a game changer. I literally want to go back to Cabo just to eat here again lol. I think about them from time to time (more often than I should) and just wanna book a trip to Cabo.. but then I realize how crazy that would be haha. Don't forget to save room for dessert! Upon arriving at Villa del Palmar, we were offered suggestions for restaurants. Naturally all of them were within the resort group that was very convenient but obviously at overpriced American prices. That being said there are a few gems located in the Villa Group that I have to recommend and the first we will start off with is El Patron. Surprisingly, I couldn't find El Patron on here but we were looking for Mexican food so we decided to give this place a try. I don't believe it's a new restaurant and seems to be pretty busy all the time. I wanted to change my reservation to be within 24 hours and they were all booked up on a week day. No matter, we eventually made our way there and enjoyed great seats overlooking the southern tip of the cape. Sit outside and enjoy it. They wills tart the heaters which will keep you warm but even now in the winter time, the weather was quite nice. All the waiters speak English and were great in terms of giving recommendations. We were looking for something we couldn't get elsewhere so we started off with 3 appetizers: Octopus sopes, tortilla soup and local sashimi which were all fantastic dishes. Of the 3 courses, this was our second favorite. We were given a recommendation to try the beef tenderloin and the local Totoaba (a type of fish). While none of the entrees were terrible they weren't great either. The beef tenderloin was nicely seasoned but was extremely sinewy and chewy. The Totoaba was nicely seasoned again with great crispy skin but was not quite as moist as I would have liked it. That being said, the sides they came with including these fried small potatoes were the stars of the dish. The dessert, BY FAR, were the stars of the dinner. The milk chocolate lava cake and the churro wafers were amazing. The lava cake is not what you would expect. It comes out as more of a caramel cake and when you cut into it, you get a creme caramel spilling out. An awesome rendition of a popular dish. The churro ice cream sandwiches as I would like to call them were also a great treat to end a dinner. While I wasn't thrilled with the main entrees, the appetizers, view and desserts really brought this place up to a solid 4 stars. I suggest you try it. Not a must eat but certainly one worth going to if you're into desserts and appetizers! Book early. You can charge to your Villa room. Service is great and friendly. read more

Just returned from a week at Villa Del Palmar. With all inclusive we were able to eat at Villa Del Arco as well. Our 3rd night, we got reservations at the "El Patron" restaurant at Del Arco. Well.....we can't say enough about the wonderful food and service we found. Our waiter Luis Calderon treated us to a 5* dinner with about 5 courses - each was unbelievable in presentation and taste. By the time our main course was delivered, we had eaten so much, we had to have our steaks wrapped up to take to our room. We enjoyed them in the morning for breakfast and were the best steaks ever. We have had our Easter meal at this restaurant on three occasions. This year the staff was very reluctant to take our reservation for our family of ten, they needed to check with the manager as they were very busy. We arrived, restaurant tables inside sat empty , several tables had smaller groups of people outside. One dish, the sushimi appetizer was noteworthy. My fish "of the day" was extremely dry and inedible. Several other dishes we ordered were prepared and served dried out. Service very slow for the small amount of diners.
