Asada street tacos
Sandra T.

Saw their food truck in a convenience store parking lot and I am a sucker for tacos so I had to try them. I got the asada mini tacos and they did not disappoint. It was filling and the meat was flavorful with the green salsa and slices onions and fresh lime juice to brighten them up! I will definitely be back to try other items.

I normally eat their tacos because it reminds me of home but this morning when I was on my way to work I took a bite out of it and was completely appalled to see what I found.

Been on the hunt for the best mini tacos in the city since moving here and these have def been my favorite so far. Quick service and taste sooo good!

COVID Update: EVERY day they have stayed open, safe and in business. It's my new drive thru daily stop since so much is limited. I think I will go thru their complete menu since I've almost worn out the Lunch Soecial #21. Go with shredded chicken!

Potato and egg taco

I usually like getting breakfast tacos here but am sadly doing this trip.. ordered a potato and egg taco and there was a huge chunk of potato and a little egg in it..

Pastor taco $2.25

Why am I eating again? Because I like to knock out two or three things in one little mini trip. This is a new Taqueria Jalisco's style which opened up right next to that highly popular mexican cafe around here. They have three other locations in San Antonio and all have drive-thrus. I got a pastor taco for $2.25. The meat was well caramelized in a slightly sweet, very bronzed and greasy in a good way sauce. I've never had passed or pork so caramelized on the grill. It was very flavorful. The tortilla was a little crispy to my taste, and I'm not even sure if it was homemade. I may try the corn ones next. Next time I might get some mini tacos if they have them or a flight of three regular tacos with three different Meats to see which one I like the best. But if the taste of this Pastor is any indication, I think I found a great new drive through in New Braunfels with meat tacos in the $2.50 range and Tortas for $4.99.

Restrooms are spacious and clean. Guacamole is served plentiful and with fresh, crispy chips in a nice wire basket with parchment type paper to absorb oil. Salted just right, the guacamole is served in a molcajete with a garnish of peeled grapes on a small vine. Those grapes had great flavor as well. The lunch specials were decent and we had a couple drinks which were tasty and visually appealing as well. I ordered the Enchiladas and to my surprise, when they were served, they were hot and cheesy. Took my first bite and was transported back to childhood, sitting at my abuela's mesa the surprise was pleasant and tugged at my heart strings. The plate comes with cilantro rice with a green color which was weird to me but very tasty. The beans were refried and had a great taste as well. We didn't get any tortillas so not sure that they serve them here. As the manager came around, I had to let him know that I was so pleasantly impressed at the transportation back to childhood. He verbalized his contentment at my experience when I simply came to celebrate my friend's birthday. Definitely will be back here again. 'lol

I visited Adobe Cafe with friends recently. On one hand, their vegetarian plate was solid. No…read moreissues, the food was exactly what I ordered, and it was fresh and tasty. The beans were amazing. They have chips and salsa for the table, and they were good. Their virgin Pina Colada was also the bomb. That's the good part, the best part of the afternoon. Unfortunately, things went sideways quite a bit for my friends. One of them eats dairy free and gluten free. It was extremely difficult for her to find anything to eat there. At some point, a manager told her he'd have to reheat her tortillas in the microwave. Weird and disappointing option. She ordered the dish anyway, and it was just nothing noteworthy. My other friend had the seafood, a shrimp dish to be exact, and she had an upset stomach a couple of hours later that lasted until the evening. She hadn't eaten anything else. So we're not 100% sure it's because of this place, but seafood is a common culprit so it's very possible that it was. I don't think she finished her plate, if my memory serves me well. My husband had the chimichanga. I think it was fine. But it was dunked in beef tallow, which he had been warned about. I thought it was a strange thing to do, especially since you can fry it in normal oil and open the menu to vegetarians as well. Beef tallow is so 1851!... Out of all of us, I had the best experience, but I can't say the same or the rest of my party. Let's just say Adobe Cafe showed us the good, the bad and the ugly. Now, which one will you get when you visit? Spin the wheel of (mis)fortune and find out...

Unfortunately, we never even got the chance to sample the food. After finding what we thought was a great parking spot across the street, we walked over to the restaurant. The entrance process was a bit confusing, but we eventually found the walkway leading to the host stand, where a sign instructed guests to wait to be seated. We waited patiently at the reception area and noticed a few guests already seated outside, others being served inside, and a bartender nearby preparing drinks. As time passed, several more parties lined up behind us. During the approximately 20 minutes we stood there, multiple staff members went in and out of the main dining room entrance, and the bartender was clearly aware of guests waiting. Not a single employee acknowledged us, offered an estimated wait time, or even said, "We'll be right with you." We understand that restaurants get busy, and we certainly weren't looking to cause a scene or demand special treatment. A simple acknowledgment would have gone a long way. Instead, after standing there for what felt like an eternity without anyone checking on us or the growing line behind us, we decided to leave. Sadly, our return visit ended before it even began. We headed over to our reliable favorite, the Gristmill, where we were promptly greeted and seated. While I can't speak to the quality of the food here, the lack of basic customer service and guest recognition left a very disappointing first impression. I hope management takes a closer look at the arrival and seating process because no guest should feel invisible the moment they walk through the door.
