West County/Analy High School exceeded our expectations. Not only are the teachers outstanding, their athletic department and the staff are dedicated professionals. I was able to attend her classes during the pandemic (spying in the background on zoom classes LOL) and her teachers were so kind, interesting, and helpful during that crises. Lots of wonderful families help out every year and make it a great place for learning and being a part of a community. The middle school is tough no matter what school, town or state. It is a rough age in the best circumstances. The high school has been amazing. I will not pretend I was always happy with the politics or some of our administration of years past but all in all the people who are in charge of our kids have done an amazing job. There are some decent teachers here, but overall, the school is not very impressive. Coming from a Charter School that engaged the whole student, I find Willowside to be lacking in both teaching skill and substance. An example of the lack of ingenuity....the 6th grade got dressed up as cavemen. Really? Cavemen? Dressed up? Caveman dancing????? Why not do a project that actually involves thinking, growing, developing? There is a lot of mock learning here, filling student's head with tidbits of information and having them regurgitate. For all the emphasis the principal put on getting into this school and star testing scores, my daughters numbers dropped more than a bit after her first year in this school. Overall......nothing innovative. If your ideal of a good school is to give students a TON of HOMEWORK (especially 7th grade), meaningless projects, all in all not teaching them to learn and question, this school might be for you. The advanced math program is more than decent. Both secretaries, especially Sophia, are excellent, kind, friendly, and helpful.

The school supports interactive and hands on learning with their Renaissance Faire, and Common Core supports that. This school was doing most things the Common Core way before there was Common Core. So now they don't really have to change most of their curriculum because its already Common Core based. Some of the projects are a tad bit odd and the teachers should really change the question they ask for the projects as they can be confusing. Also homework has its pros such as time management and getting you ready for high school and college Charter schools give more homework then regular schools, but this school doesn't have a lot of homework if your child pays attention in class like I mentioned before. The advanced math program is great. The 7th grade teacher teaches Singapore math along with state standards. Also the math teachers are already teaching the way Common Core want them to so they cannot be that bad. The school has some faults yet overall its better than some middle schools here. Overall I suggest you send your kids here because they have a small student population so teachers can work with all the students, interactive and hands on learning, enough homework to prepare your kids for high school and college, Common Core based learning, and great teachers.

This program was BS and even reading about said BS requires one to take a break. Because of this program, because of its negligence of a horrible situation I was forced to make the decision to leave completely. Left the apartment, left the city and the state! The staff couldn't get any worse. I was in the rapid rehousing program with Cheyenne as a caseworker. Upon entering the Mendocino Ave location you will notice that most of staff act like unprofessional high school students behind the counter. There was an old caseworker that had that quit, that also doesn't approve of the way this program is run. She was amazing, it's unfortunate they lost such a good worker. Anyway, I was in their housing program and paired up to share an apartment with one of their other clients. The client they set me up with had a baby and was pregnant. I didn't mind this, but I was nervous going into it. Needless to say my experience with said roomate was a disaster. She never cleaned up after herself and she would leave trash bags full of diapers in her room that would stink up the entire apartment. I was so used to the ammonia smell that I didn't even smell it anymore. My step dad came to visit and he got a blast of piss smell the second he walked through the door. It was nauseating. My roomate would leave food rotting and molding on the counters for weeks at a time and bring different men over constantly. I felt like I was living in a brothel. The program knew about the problems in the household and set up a chores list and other rules. I followed them did my chores, but she did not do her part. I had many problems with this roomate and could write a lot more about it but I'll end it there. She was awful and the program didn't do anything about her behavior towards me. I was so happy to leave this program. The only good thing about it was that they set us up in a really nice apartment complex, but the apartment was very very expensive so eventually we would have to pay full price. It's not really setting us up for success when the rent will eventually be too high. I had to fight bail and tooth to allow my ESA dog to stay with me but I'm glad I was eventually able to do that. The apartment complex itself was very dog friendly it was the program I had to fight with. I could add so many more things but aim tired of writing this so I'm just going to post.
