There is a new principal now so I don't really know about him all I know is that he does not dress like a principal and he acts like a student not a principal. Almost all teachers are great. One of the kindergarten teachers, I will not name her because that's messed up, is very mean. She flipped off a mom outside of school and is mean inside of school too. But if you are looking for a school for your kids, this school is great. They are also great with attending students with disabilities. My younger sister has spina bifida and they do a great job to help her with her needs. This is a very long review and yes, I'm a minor and no I don't go to this school anymore, but I used to. Ok bye I'm done typing hope this helped anyone who needed it

The staff was supportive through the years when my son was behind in reading. Because of their help he is now up to grade level and excels in math. My daughter is also excelling. Those formative years at Dunham have really created a love of learning in our kids. The teachers, administration, and parents collaborate effectively to run the school in such a way that funds are well allocated to additional curriculum that are fun and educational for the kids. The garden is by far a wonderful addition to the school and really created a community connection between the families and the local agriculture of Sonoma County. Things like apple pressing, seasonal "plant start" sales, and the pumpkin patch where each child gets a pumpkin...these are things that kids remember for the rest of their lives. The end of year carnival is always a blast! It's a close knit community. As a small school, be prepared to face the challenges of kids getting sick of one another. There is only one class per grade so kids stay together. That results in bickering and splitting off eventually with their people. They are like siblings by the time they leave the school. Some kids get along better than others. But the variation of personality types and the inclusion of all demographics really gives these kids a sense of how to treat many types of people in and out of school. in my opinion, this small country school is one of the best in Sonoma County. It's a secret gem.

The students are unbelievably accepting and bullies simply do not exist at SRHS. The faculty all does their job, and they're extremely friendly (but they can be strict when they need to be.) This school has amazing programs, especially ArtQuest. I would definitely recommend this school to any artists, because it helps open up so many opportunities and everyone there is unbelievably talented. In addition to having wonderful programs at the school, it's right next to the Santa Rosa Junior College, so if a student wants to, they could easily take classes at the JC and have it only be a 5 minute walk away.

We love all the teachers so much! They do such a wonderful job truly engaging with each of the students while also giving them space to learn and foster independence. We really appreciate the Montessori philosophy and approach to learning, letting the child lead the way. All the materials in the room are thoughtful and grow with the students as their skills evolve. Our son absolutely loves Ma Cassie, who was his teacher last year as well as Ms Susan who is his teacher this year and also the Director. The new location is absolutely fantastic. The inside is so fresh and clean. The classrooms are meticulously and lovingly setup for the students. It has really beautiful outdoor space as well. Would recommend 10/10 to those looking for a place for their preschooler to learn and grow into kind and independent a human.

I would not recommend this preschool due to lack of communication.

Both of my sons have attended this preschool and have loved it! To start, the teachers and directors are wonderful. Most of them have been teaching at the preschool for over 10 years and are truly invested in getting to know each child and the families. It is a play based preschool so the amount of thought and intentions the teachers put behind each activity to encourage creativity or fine motor skills, etc is amazing. They know how to prepare your kids for school. When my oldest son went into Kindergarten - he was totally ready even though he thought he was just 'playing' the whole time at preschool. The facility is always spotless and there is so much space for the kids. The outdoor area has a huge sandbox, that my son LOVED to play in, they have bikes, a tire swing, etc and depending on the theme of the week, they will even bring out bails of hay for the kids to play on. They are very diligent on cleanliness - washing hands before snack, cleaning the dress up clothes regularly, and informing families immediately if someone was sick. Lastly, the community of families that attend here are wonderful. As we all know, raising children can be very hard at times so I am so thankful for the parents that I have met through this preschool. We are in the thick of it together and many of them are now my best friends and our kids still love playing together, despite going to different elementary schools. It is a beautiful community and that's why I had to leave a review - I want everyone to attend here!!

Here's a small example that illustrates how wonderful they are: My son had a stellar first day, and an absolutely terrible second day- tantrums, refusing to follow instructions...he even hit a teacher. I was mortified. The director called me within an hour of pickup time to discuss what might be going on- the answer to which, of course, was "a lot!" (recent move, recovering from illness, sleep deprivation, new baby brother.) She was so absolutely kind and thoughtful, I was nearly in tears from relief at her compassionate response. And, when speaking to my son about that day, he said: "I was mad and sad and didn't want to do anything, and the teachers gave me cuddles." Really. After all the rotten stuff, that's what he took away from the day...that the teachers gave him cuddles. Wonderful. He's since adjusted very well, and is always so happy when I pick him up. They do a great job of building a sense of community among the parents, and the developmental curriculum is creative and fun. It's not super academic, but that's not what we were looking for; if that's what you require, you may wish to supplement with another program. (However, I think they do offer an optional additional day for the 4 year-olds that is focused more on school readiness.) I should also mention that we're not a very religious family, but I've been very comfortable with the level of faith-related activity; it's just your basic Noah's Ark/saying grace before snack/telling the Christmas story type of stuff. After more than 20 years working in child development, and the past three years touring and reviewing schools for a company that matches families to schools, I'm pretty picky. I'll definitely send my infant here when he's ready.

The teacher Mrs. J is exactly like Ms. Mention from the Little Princess. Not warm at all to her students. My son came home several times during the year and stated that he hated himself and wanted to kill himself. I'd recommend the school for regular Ed, but steer clear for special education. Another parents words for her are "if she smiles, her face will crack". This may sound harsh, but sadly it's true.
