A great little Mexican restaurant! You can always get right in! Great food, some of the best margaritas you will have too! Service is always fast and friendly! Can't go wrong eating here! Taco salad is amazing and the steak tacos are a must!

We love Mexican food and recently moved so we went in search of a new favorite restaurant. I prefer to find locally owned restaurants. El Maguey is our new go-to!! I love the salsa, the street tacos, the margaritas, the burritos, the queso & the staff. The food has been terrific each time and the staff & service has been welcoming. Give them a try, you won't be disappointed!

Went there awhile back, had like no issues and the food was good. And I like the decorations around the place.

The booth upholstery is all cut up otherwise ambiance is basic colorful establishment. Needs redoing. The would not mix and match tacos ( couldn't do a taco plate with three different authentic meats. Just had blah boring basic meat options for single tacos- like ground beef, shredded steak of chicken. I ended up getting pork tacos which came out like tacos bells hard shell tacos. Was not expecting it so difficult to get some decent talks. The waiter was sweet enough to switch out to Chile verde on corn tortilla with cilantro onion. It helped. They were ok nothing bad but nothing great at all. Doubt we will be back. Michelada was good! They had no white wine for my partner. Asked for child relleno as side and two glasses waters. Had to ask a second time and only received one water. Then ask a different waiter for another glass. Decided to forgo the Chile relleno anyways. Figured probably for best. Ordered tamales Togo and sample Tommorow for a snack. Will update on that. Also the flan shown in another reviewers good is no longer an Option. The waiter he left something to be desired. Especially when he spoke Spanish only once he knew I spoke which required me to unnecessarily have to translate convo to my peer....

Beautifully decorated. Salsa is tasty. Plates are hot. Service is excellent. We would definitely…read morereturn.

We went to Popi's for the first time on 04-21 about 3:30.  Parking was easy to find and there were…read moreabout ten other patrons in the restaurant.  We entered through the door and were unsure immediately if it was a self sit or wait to be seated, but in about 18 seconds a nice lady, Angelica, came from the kitchen area, greeted us and asked if we preferred a booth or table.  We asked for a booth, which was clean, the table and seats in good condition.  She gave us each a menu and said she would be right back, which she was in less than a minute. The tables have a roll of paper towels on a vertical paper towel holder, nice and readily available.  There was also a condiment tray with three bottles of various sauces (green, hot, regular) as well as salt, pepper, sugar. Our server ended up being Angelica who brought out a container of salsa, two small bowls for the salsa, and a basket of freshly cooked tortilla chips.  The salsa was mild yet flavorful (can use the bottles on the table to spice it up if desired).  It was on the watery side but likely due to it seeming to be made from fresh tomatoes, not canned or prepackaged.  Refills of each are provided as desired. Angelica asked what we would like to drink.  My wife got water and Angelica asked if she would like lots of ice, light ice, or regular ice.  That was nice.  I got Diet Dr Pepper and asked for light ice.  Soft drinks are Pepsi products and Dr Pepper, all with free refills.  Angelica did a good job keeping drinks filled.  She asked if we knew what we would like to order.  My wife was not quite ready so Angelica said, no problem, and ahead of would be back in a couple minutes, which she was. I ordered the Burrito Cowboy ($15.49) and my wife ordered the Fajitas Chicken ($18.25). The Burrito Cowboy is 2 large steak burritos with sliced pieces of good steak and cheese dip filling the burritos that were also lined inside with lettuce, then smothered with cheese dip.  The cheese dip was a very nice amount, fully covering the burritos and the entire plate.  It comes with rice and fried beans served on a side plate.  They were nicely seasoned and a good amount,  The burritos were nice and hot, the steak taste and texture felt like it was freshly cooked steak to order.  It was a very good dish. The Fajitas Chicken is a very nice quantity of sliced chicken breast (maybe about 1/4 lb?, it was a nice amount, mixed with sliced green bell peppers, sliced onions, tomatoes.  The plate was almost 2 inches tall of the fajita mix.  It had been prepared fresh as we saw and heard him making the fajitas.  Lettuce, guacamole, sour cream, pico de gallo, rice, fried beans, with 3 tortillas (choice of wheat or corn), all came on their own plate.  The fajitas were sizzling as they should be, and the side items were all fresh. Silverware consisted of a knife and fork inside a protective sanitary bag, a nice touch.  A spoon could have helped with some of my food but we did not ask since we managed okay without but may ask if a spoon is available a a future visit. Another server came in, Jennifer, to start about 4:00 pm and we also noticed a lot of customers coming in, it was filling fast.  She ended up cashing us out.  Another server came in, Jennifer, to start about 4:00 pm and we also noticed a lot of customers coming in, it was filling fast.  Payment is made at the counter near the door.  There is no additional charge for using a credit card.  We mentioned that it looked like we came in at a good time as it was filling so fast and Jennifer said that happens on Tuesdays.  We asked what caused that on Tuesday and she said it is when they have a special of 4 tacos for $7.49 with beans and rice. Everything seems to be made fresh, and the prices are good for what we got.  We were very happy with our visit and plan to come again.

The chips and salsa were excellent. I love thin chips. I had the enchiladas rancheras. It came with rice and guacamole salad. I wish it would've come with refried beans instead.
