A great little Mexican restaurant! You can always get right in! Great food, some of the best margaritas you will have too! Service is always fast and friendly! Can't go wrong eating here! Taco salad is amazing and the steak tacos are a must!

We love Mexican food and recently moved so we went in search of a new favorite restaurant. I prefer to find locally owned restaurants. El Maguey is our new go-to!! I love the salsa, the street tacos, the margaritas, the burritos, the queso & the staff. The food has been terrific each time and the staff & service has been welcoming. Give them a try, you won't be disappointed!

Went there awhile back, had like no issues and the food was good. And I like the decorations around the place.

The booth upholstery is all cut up otherwise ambiance is basic colorful establishment. Needs redoing. The would not mix and match tacos ( couldn't do a taco plate with three different authentic meats. Just had blah boring basic meat options for single tacos- like ground beef, shredded steak of chicken. I ended up getting pork tacos which came out like tacos bells hard shell tacos. Was not expecting it so difficult to get some decent talks. The waiter was sweet enough to switch out to Chile verde on corn tortilla with cilantro onion. It helped. They were ok nothing bad but nothing great at all. Doubt we will be back. Michelada was good! They had no white wine for my partner. Asked for child relleno as side and two glasses waters. Had to ask a second time and only received one water. Then ask a different waiter for another glass. Decided to forgo the Chile relleno anyways. Figured probably for best. Ordered tamales Togo and sample Tommorow for a snack. Will update on that. Also the flan shown in another reviewers good is no longer an Option. The waiter he left something to be desired. Especially when he spoke Spanish only once he knew I spoke which required me to unnecessarily have to translate convo to my peer....

Beautifully decorated. Salsa is tasty. Plates are hot. Service is excellent. We would definitely…read morereturn.

We have been visiting Popi's about weekly now since the first review. They have consistently been…read moreattentive, responsive, caring, and clean. Our visits recently have been on June 2, 9, 15, 22, 29 and so far July 8, 11. That is a testament to their delicious food, ample servings, and friendly personnel. For servers, on most days we have had Angelica, a couple times we have had different servers and have been good as well. Our selections have become pretty regular meaning we have been pretty much ordering the same thing as we enjoy them so much. I get the Fajitas Popi's ($20.25) which includes meats of chicken, beef, chorizo, and shrimp. It always comes out sizzling with a protector pad on the handle to prevent burning. An example of the quantity of meat included are 6 jumbo shrimp or 8 large shrimp in the mix and about 3 tablespoons of chorizo, as well as a nice complement of chicken and beef. It seems like at least five to six ounces of each. Vegetables include grilled and sliced bell peppers, onions, and tomatoes. My wife gets the Chicken Fajitas ($18.25) which includes a very nice amount of sliced chicken (seems like about at least 1/2 pound), as well as the grilled peppers, onions, and tomatoes. Each fajita platter comes with a second plate that includes beans, rice, sour cream, guacamole, pico de gallo, lettuce. In addition, 3 foil wrapped tortillas are provided wrapped in foil to keep them to and moist, choice of flour or corn. As mentioned, the food quantity is very good, especially for a single serving. My Fajitas Popi's had twice as much meat and vegetables on it for a single serving than we received at a restaurant on a trip that was supposedly a serving for two. Popi's definitely gives great bang for the money! It has been sufficient for us to take home half of each of our platters to eat at home for a meal another day, and it is all still very tasty and moist. We can hear the clattering of the knives and necessary utensils, and the sizzle of the food, to make freshly cooked fajitas. The sound and the ultimate taste is obvious. Freshly made tortilla chips are served in a basket, as well as a very nicely seasoned (mildly spicy) salsa served in a bottle with small bowls provided upon seating, and free refills of both are provided throughout. The chips are nice and light, not heavily salted, and have retained their crispiness even a couple days later at home (we place them in a sealed bowl when we get home). We can barely get bagged chips to stay crisp that long after opening a bag, so we really enjoy Popi's chips. Besides the menu on the website, they have a different special each day that is written on a marker board on the wall immediately across from the door so easily seen upon entering. One day may be enchiladas, another a burrito, and so on. Tuesday is tacos as mentioned in my previous post. As for menu items, so far we have had the Fajitas Popi's, Chicken Fajitas, Steak Fajitas, and Burritos. All have been excellent, seem to be freshly made, and would order them again. We hope to try some other items in the future but can state the fajitas and burritos are definitely good, and a great value for the money. Every once in awhile Popi has a few moments to come out to check on things. He is friendly, smiles, says hello, and is not intrusive but seems to enjoy seeing people enjoying his preparations. I hope to remember to take photos of some of these items to provide a visual of the items. Sorry, I am not a big photo person, even of myself, so my goal is to enjoy the food I am at a place for. In the meantime, if you want Mexican that is fresh and properly made, Popi's is a place to definitely consider.

You're unable to talk, you have to point to the item or items on the menu to your server so they know what you want to eat and drink. Again I was unaware of this Saturday night event and obviously certain people enjoy it and that's great but if you're coming here on a Saturday to try and to have conversation with out using sign language and pointing to items on menu because your server can't hear you then don't come here on a Saturday night. I think we got here around 6pm and he was still going at 8pm so I don't know what time he stops. The food was good. The Elvis singer in my opinion singing in a living room size room with the volume set like he was singing in a stadium not my cup of tea. Again this is just my opinion so I know not to go to this restaurant on a Saturday night.
