Fish tacos

EL HABANERO TRUCK (behind the Sinclair Gas Station) This review is based on the fish tacos. With subsequent visits, other menu items will be tried. There will be more visits. Their menu is extensive for a truck. After 4 decades of eating Fish Tacos, invented by a restaurant in Ensenada, Baja California Norte, Mexico, I have tried every form of them in Upper and Lower California. El Habanero has definitely hit a high mark with their interpretation of this standard. Requirements of an Ensenada Fish Taco: Two fresh, supple corn tortillas (full size, not the "street" version) - Check Large, flakey, fresh, white fish fillet lightly battered and deep fried - Check Crema (Mexico's crème fraîche less thick than US sour cream) - Check Cold, shredded green cabbage - Check Salsa Cruda (chopped tomato, onion, lime juice and cilantro) - Check Hot sauce on the side - Check Having met the requirements in a quality and quantity way, El Habanero has a bonus for the Treasure Valley eaters - they use Shredded Oaxaca Cheese (cross between Monterey Jack and Mozzarella), Michoacána Cotija crumbles and avocado slices. All this was well balanced in flavor and texture, making this an all-star taco for any aficionado. They closed at 4 pm because of the 100+ degree day. I got there a little after 4 and they reopened for my order. Compliments to the nature of Mexican hospitality. Strongly recommended.

Went here for the first time today and the fish tacos are fantastic. We will definitely be back. Everything seemed like they included good quality ingredients. :)

Worth stopping by if you are in the area. Tacos ($1.50) had a lot of meat, burrito ($6) was pretty stuffed, and service was quick and friendly. Carnitas were tasty, not fabulous, but good. Carne asada was just fine. Not the cheapest tacos around (by a quarter) but still a solid lunch option.

Mostly rice, hardly any steak, no vegetables or herbs. Pico and peppers please!

One of the best places to feed my dog because it's trash. Honestly, I'll never eat it again in my life.

The burger and fries are the closest thing to heaven I've ever had, and you won't want to miss them right now. I honestly don't know how they do it. Note, that this means this is the best burger in the state, it is the best burger in comparison to any in California or any other surrounding state. There was not a bad bite. It is as if Jesus has blessed the chef and your taste buds, it is a literal masterpiece. Everything is made with care, you will experience euphoria and what a burger made with care actually tastes like. Juds, Big Bun, the new In N' Out Burger, are good in their own respect, but not even the same echelon as Hood Burger. Hood Burger is on top of the pyramid, everything else is just ok. Everything is made to perfection. I am not sure if it is because they are in a food truck and not an upscale restaurant, but these guys truly care about their product. If you want a cheap burger with the typical result go to one of the other local places, if you want the best burger for around $15 go now.
