I had the Mingus eggs. Chorizo taco the food is absolutely fantastic. The service is top-notch. My wife had the Barbacoa tacos super fresh. Absolutely recommend this place when you come to town. read more

We came into town today for the festival and wanted to try something new. Their menu is detailed and has lots of options. Food tasted great and everyone finished their plates-- except the Torta that was so huge, my son will be eating on it for days. I was not a fan of the salsa but their green sauce is great. Restaurant was clean and the service was professional and attentive. read more

It was pretty good fast service although not many were there so that might be why but food was good the quesadilla was a little dry and I ordered glass bottle coke they gave me a cup but that is little and doesn't effect the rating. It was a pretty nice clean place. 7/10 read more

3% Service Charge not disclosed. A/C not working on day of my visit. Food was bland, Chips and Salsa extra and chips did not taste fresh. Service only good point. Would not return read more

We love the breakfast tacos here. Our favorite in town by far. Guac is also fresh and made to order. Staff takes good care of you and menu is massive. It's our go to for breakfast. read more

Food is great, we usually have the menudo & barbacoa on Sundays after church. It's a good local owned business

I am in town for work and wanted some caldo. I searched around on Yelp and found a few good reviews about the beef caldo. It was a little weird that the vegetables were still hard but it did give it a fresh texture that I have never experienced in my life. The broth was full of flavor and even the portions of vegetables were just right. I'm used to getting a lot of one vegetable and it seems like they have the vegetables portioned out for each bowl. This was a great spot for dinner in Granbury, Texas. We started out with a chili con queso; which is a must when you're in Texas. They usually serve it with flour tortillas - and these tortillas were homemade and delicious. My sister ordered the fajitas which were super fresh and delicious! But i think the chicharrón sope was my favorite, hands down. Regardless, you can't go wrong! Ohhhhh and order a paloma! They are delicious as are the micheladas. read more

The food was soured and expired tasting and I threw up 5 to 6 times while I was there and I had the beef enchiladas with queso on top with rice and beans and a side of sliced avocado and my mother went back in there to tell them I threw up and they told her that they check the food every day and I don't believe it because how would I have gotten sick ? If they checked the food every day and I go there all time and I wasn't allergic to anything in that dish but please be careful and go at your own risk if you want but the desserts and drinks are good but please just be careful !!! read more

This was my first time at this establishment and first impression I thought it was cute. The food tasted authentic and was very good however the customer service was lacking in such a way I will not be back period and honestly I encourage anyone else considering this place to keep Moving on down the street. The waitress "Yolet", the best description I can give is inexperienced even she claims the opposite. Things that individuals were allergic were still left on the plate, items were never rang in, but additional charges for multiple sides of condiments or other charges were. This may not be a popular location all the time but customer service like that will guarantee a loss of tip every time. read more

El Gallo De Oro - Mexican Near Me - Granbury, Texas

They removed the prices from the menu making it difficult to order. Mixed drink prices have been raised. Mixed drinks are slow to be made. Food portions seem to be getting smaller. I once liked this place, but it has changed so much that it just doesn't feel the same. I would rather go to another place, Fort Worth, Glen Rose, or Stephenville. read more

Great Mexican breakfast and quick service. Get there early on the weekend to make sure you get parking.

The best breakfast burritos and tortilla soup you will ever have! This is my go to for breakfast or a cold day.

Like others - no pricing on the menus for or any of the meals is a DEAL BREAKER. In addition there was a charge for a very very small bowl of chips/salsa. Also a deal breaker. And we had to finally ask for it and no notice that we'd be charged. Sadly I must say the food was quite good and salsa delicious. But I would never return or recommend this restaurant. The server may have been new and was certainly untrained. There were 3 in our party and we ordered 2 entrees plus margaritas and beer. Thoughtlessly she brought us only 2 silverware packets and seemed very surprised when we asked for 1 more. In addition we had to ask for water. I wonder why they are even in business. read more

We recently moved to Granbury, TX. In the past four weeks, we've dined at four different area Mexican restaurants. Of the four, we liked El Gallo de Oro the best. They had great food with a nice variety of menu items. read more

Great Mexican food, we love this for breakfast or dinner. Cold brews, great service and good Mexican food, not texmex

The food lacked flavor and the server couldn't get our order correct. The scrambled eggs were supposed to contain sausage and cheese yet I had difficulty finding ANY. We had to go ask for our tortillas that came with the breakfast. read more

We love coming here almost every weekend! The food is always good and as far as the service, well they young ladies always have a smile on their face you just have to remember. they're young and learning! Do you come here to critique them or to enjoy the food which is always good! Enjoy the lake view, good food and relax :) As far as other reviews i'd ask yourself was your good good? Was it hot? Well then enjoy it and if you need one of the young ladies just say something like you said they are right over there at the bar! lol Happy New Year everyone! read more

Authentic Mexican! The salsa was a cross between a salsa verde and regular salsa. Second time we have ate here since moving to Granbury. Will be a regular place of ours to eat at. read more

Ordered 2 breakfast taco and they are exactly as I ordered, tasty, and fresh. Tortillas were freshly warmed and not sitting on a steam table which means my to-go order arrived and nothing was soggy. It will soon be on the "clean-plate" short list. I will eat here next time I'm in town. read more

We tried this place three times and we were disappointed each time. The food was rated by my Hispanic friend as the best. I guess our taste buds differ greatly. Texans are very critical of Mexican, Barbecue and steak . This food is almost inedible. No flavor and poor service. Good location but bad management. read more

Great food! Loved the huevos rancheros! And the homemade tortillas were on point. Service was good too!

Don't know why yelp is giving them 3.5 stars. My wife and I liked this place. First, the food was delicious. A prerequisite for any 5 star review. Second, the surprising thing was the amount of western food served, too: pancakes, eggs and bacon, burgers, etc. But, third, what was awesome if when my daughter dropped a piece of bacon and they brought 3 replacements just in case any other bacon was accidentally dropped. Thank you! We will be coming back! read more

Foods were okay, but they keep the lost and found and never return to you. I left my shades, called 3 days later NADA, nothing. They even said: well, if no body calls within a few days we bring everything home?! WTF! This is why people have stereotypes, you go eat tacos better check your seats before you left, coz the staffs will not give you the lost and found back regardless. Lesson learned. Too bad, not many restaurants in Granburry but definitely NOT coming back here due to the poor integrity value. Imagine what's going into the food! read more

We've been here several times. But I don't think if I have a chance to post my our experience here. So now its bout time. Every time we dine here, It give us a lot of pleasure because we can eat the food that We want. We love Rice, soup and sort of mixed sea foods or Fajita. Also the price is very reasonable, you can't bet the price. My Family love this Place restaurant a Lot. read more

Requested a single item be taken off a sit down order because it was cold and inedible. Enchiladas Mexicanas. Asked very nicely, but both waiter and cashier refused. I'm a frequent flyer at this place; asked them "Are you sure?" They said, "Yes." El Gallo de Oro--wow. You succeeded in keeping $10 on a large tab. But you lost a customer in the process. read more

New update review: don't eat here, there was an ambulance outside. Must be from the quality of food being served here like before.

This place was very close to the square. Within walking distance. The food was great. A very cute, Mexican atmosphere. I had the ceviche and it was delicious. I also have Lengua tacos, which were marvelous. Highly recommend this place. read more

The worse Mexican Restaurant that I've patronized. First off they charge you for Chips and Salsa with the chips served a bowl the size of what you'd eat cereal from. Second, I ordered a Frozen margarita that was barley frozen and served in an orange juice glass. Lastly, the Queso cheese was more like Nacho Cheese. The meal portions didn't match the amount I was charged. This was definitely a struggle restaurant that I wouldn't recommend nor return to. read more

The service here is like as bad as it gets. EVERY SINGLE TIME! We come at least 2 times a week because the food is always very good. The young girl with curly hair and the other young girl that always has a little braid. They literally can have a couple tables and still wait tables like they are slammed. They will sit over in bar area and eat and drink instead of waiting on their tables. I don't know why I keep coming back! read more
