This was my corndog, the exact color and everything.

I used to like this place. I don't know what changed, but I feel like the staff doesn't really care anymore. I stopped getting actual mexican food due to the spices. The new spices mess with my stomach. So, I started getting the American food and now they are messing that up. The staff was mad when I would point something out. I finally ordered a corn dog and they gave me a spoiled one on a dirty plate. I don't recommend them anymore.

Excellent service + really good food + affordable prices = returning customers! We were in Granbury to run an errand and needed to kill time. Because CVS was on our agenda, we looked for a non-chain restaurant nearby and found El Chico. What a gem!! Its at the end of a strip mall so there is plenty of parking and easy in/out. We were greeted and seated immediately upon walking in the door and were then greeted by our server Cristian right away. Cristian was super friendly and attentive - he never left us hanging and our lunch was top notch. We enjoyed Tex Mex for 2 for only $24. We got an appetizer to share, 2 entrees and a dessert to share. Everything was flavorful and delicious! El Chico is a total gem and we'll be back.

    Salmon chimichurri

We have gone twice this week. Yumm yumm I ordered the salmon chimichurri both times Oh my so so good. The portion of salmon was small but so very tasty. Hubs ordered chicken fajitas , grandson ordered chicken fajita bowl. Ordered ordered chicken enchiladas. I tried those they were very good. Service was good, chips n salsa are good too. I wish the salmon portion was a tad bigger. Mu husband's fajitas were also small portion. That would be the only thing needing improvement.

Excellent slaw the best! Dry Chicken Cascabel.

Found some real Mex Mex tacos in Aubrey!…read more My wife heard good things about Taqueria Don Juan from the Ladies of Little Elm Facebook group and she had seen good tacos catered at public park events in Little Elm from the same people, so I wanted to give this place a try. First off for some reason Google lists this place as "permanently closed" as of 7/19/2016 but this is incorrect! As far as the place, the exterior is unassuming but fitting with an old Texas smokehouse sort of look. The interior decor was bright and clean. The setting is relaxed and quiet. Regarding the food, the red salsa was very hot, as hot as I recall a Mex restaurant ever having their salsa. The green salsa was a less hot choice and both tasted good. So if super hot homemade salsa is your thing or good green homemade salsa is your thing, consider this place. The tacos and gorditas were both good and when "queso" is listed this is real Mexican queso fresca! I had a gordita with rajas filling (chili / tomato / onions all grilled together with real Mexican cheese) which was really good. The fajita and chicken taco filling were both good. I preferred the gorditas over the tacos which I guess reminded me of the empanadas and papusas from further cuisine further south of the boarder. Everyone who I was with enjoyed their food as well. There were adequate vegetarian choices as well with the huevos, been and cheese, and rajas. The chips were just okay and the water is by the bottle and all and all this is a no frills family place. If Taqueria Don Juan costs what a typical Mex restaurant does in the area I would give it 4 out of 5 stars. However here you can get a real Mex meal for Taco Bell prices that is true Mexican food just like being south of the boarder (no canned "nacho sauce" aqui). For these reasons I give Taqueria Don Juan 5 stars.
