Carne Asada
Brock P.

Had a super carne asada burrito today. It wasn't super crowded, food was good as well as portion size. It took a minute to get food. There is outside seating that you can't see or even know exist unless you go to the back of the restaurant. Even thought the building is old it could definitely use some upgrade remodeling, and if those are out of range several good deep cleanings would do this place wonders.

I can't believe I've never written a review for this place. I grew up going here, but I don't think I appreciated it as much as I do now. Recently my husband and I were looking for something to eat -- he's a burrito lover and I was in the mood for a torta. We got lucky and arrived with no line, but sure enough, a few minutes later the line was out the door (which is pretty typical). There are plenty of tables and they're usually open, although it can get a little cold inside because the door stays open with the constant flow of customers. I've had the burritos here before and they're always well-made, but this time I ordered the torta de carne asada and it did not disappoint. The bread was fresh, the meat was cooked perfectly (not dry or overdone), and all the ingredients tasted really fresh. It's definitely one of my favorite taquerías in the Mission.

I'm writing this review in comparison to other taquerias around mission. This place is great with generous portions but doesn't have a salsa stand . They just give you two containers one of each different salsa. Huge line up when I got here because food is amazing. I wasn't offered chips . I thought tipping would cover it but it's ok I would've told them no thanks anyways. That was a lot of foods.

Supar Burrito

Keeping late night mission burritos local. For the price $9.99 and few bucks for a mexican soda. The burrito is huge, filling and grilled tortilla wrap. Texture has a chew and flakey texture. With the green and red salsa, you won't get bored, i even mixed it which made it taste better. It's a loud kitchen with music playing. You get a pick up tag. It came out really fast, i got a table and used the bathroom, it was done when i got out. Bathroom is clean. Tables are tight but plenty of. Parking can be tricky, but i was able to find a spot. You might need to bring your own soda cap opener because they just hand it. It's a mexican food in the mission, that stays open late. Give it a go since they take card and cash. I would recommend.

Give me wrong burritos

Never come back to this place horrible order regular burrito charge me for super one order pork they give me shrimp burrito I find out when I get home people have attitude too never go there again

Super Burrito $9.99 with el pastor

I've heard that this place accidentally overcharges vs what's on their menu pricing but we didn't run into that problem. We got super burritos, and for the $9.99 price it wasn't bad. I was hungry but wasn't starving and it still filled me up, I ate 80% of the burrito and didn't finish it all. The burrito wasn't bad and was not dry. Their green and red sauces were pretty good and not watered down, they charged $.75 cents for chips but wish they were house made vs store bought. There was a man who was very kind and ran our food out to us, that was unexpected for this place feeling like a "pop up" Mexican shop kinda feel, very nice service. It def gave the feel like it's a "on the go" kinda joint. The food wasn't bad and was better in size and taste compared to a lot of other median places in the city. I'd come again. I hear there's also 2 good Mexican places on the mission on 24th we will have to also try out called (La Taqueria) Customer service: 4/5 Food portion for price: 4/5 Food taste: 3/5 (good but nothing special)

3 super burritos

Hubby likes this place but the burritos haven't been good tasting in a long time. We ordered 3 super burritos: 2 carnitas and one steak. The 2 of us with the carnitas thought the meat was bland and lacked flavor. I usually like the salsa verde but this batch was also bland and way spicy hotter than it had been in the past. It's as if they pureed green hot peppers and not tomatillos. I'm going to have to protest next time he wants to stop for burritos at this site next time. I think the one next to the BART station and the one in SSF are better. Perhaps the family over expanded and now the ingredients are not as tasty anymore.

A true San Francisco institution, my favorite/top super burrito in the city. The line looks long but it's worth the wait. The space has plenty of seating like an old school diner with wooden booths. The location on 24th (this location) does take card. We got a super burrito al pastor, strawberry agua fresca, chips for about $15! The group ordered the enchiladas de pollo and quesadilla as well. The agua Fresca was very good, not too sweet. It hit the spot! The burrito was the star. First, it is enormous! It's packed with flavor, fresh avocado, and the rice was so flavorful as well. My friend really enjoyed the enchiladas so I have to try that next time- the refried beans were incredibly good. I like their salsa verde a lot, their salsa roja is spicy! It was such a filling meal and so good! I highly recommend a visit to this amazing SF institution.

Regular burrito - Carne Asada

You can't beat the price and quality of the burrito. $9 for a burrito is amazing, I got the carne asada and al pastor. The carne asada was good but the al pastor was so flavorful. The red salsa is a bit spicy and my favorite. The green salsa was ok. It looks like they do accept card payment but I paid with cash.

A must go! Stopped by on a Saturday night around 8pm. Service was really quick! I had the Al pastor super burrito and I think it might be my new favorite thing! Can't believe it has taken me so long to check out this place! Their torta was also really good!

QUESADILLA
Cara M.

Nice no frills Mexican food. Always busy, always tasty. Usually get the burrito as it's a staple here- but today I switched it up a little and got the quesadilla- which was a great decision. I can't tell if it was even bigger than a burrito but definitely packed full of meat and goodness- with a nice crispy outer layer. This is the place I always take visitors when they visit in the city! Definitely a San Francisco staple establishment. Plenty of seating in this location also. Quick service, great food on the cheaper side.

Quesadilla

This location is the best! I got a Cabeza quesadilla. Great portion size and price. Cash only at this one!

El Farolito is a classic. Literally not a bad item on the menu. Try the strawberry agua Fresca.

It's a classic for a reason. The burritos are huge, and the ingredients are consistently excellent.

My bf ended up sharing his order with me because I didn't enjoy my Cioppino ($42.) The seafood was bland, all tasting very much alike, & the broth didn't give off that complex spicy tang that my favorite cioppinos possess. My table started with an appetizer of Red Chili Garlic Shrimp ($18) -- from the description, we were expecting a dry, possibly sautéed preparation & were disappointed that the shrimp were sitting in a watery broth. Though I was letdown by my picks here, I know my group enjoyed theirs. We were treated very well by our waiter & by the host who gave us a beautiful window seat; we enjoyed the view of the sun setting over the bay. Not a restaurant I'd regularly return to, but I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it (with a few caveats, of course) to someone looking for a sit-down Pier 39 meal.

Anchor Oyster Bar will likely have a wait all day, most times of day. However, there are lots of shops to stop into nearby where you can still call your name if called.  The reason to stop in? Their cioppino. A hearty, tomato-based seafood stew chocked full of fresh bay seafood like mussels, clams, crab, shrimp, and white fish. It's served hot and with a side of garlic bread. Do yourself a favor and order an extra side or two of garlic bread to sop up all of that delicious soup. We also got the seafood platter to try a variety of oysters and their shrimp cocktail, which were all delicious. Steamed claims in garlic butter was an obvious order. No regrets. Highly recommended for a good, hearty, true San Francisco lunch.

Everybody, servers and cooks, were incredibly helpful and answered all my questions with a smile. I figured if I'm going to an oyster bar, I better try the oysters. I had six meaty, juicy oysters ($22.50) from three different regions. It was fun to compare them from each other. My girlfriend ordered the penne pasta with prawns topped with rich red sauce and melted cheese ($33). It was absolutely delicious and rivals many local Italian restaurants. I also ordered the crab burger and clam chowder ($36). The clam chowder was hot, creamy and not too salty. The burger came with a good amount of crab. It looked like imitation crab, but it wasn't, it was much bolder and heartier. I'd come back here whether for a date night or a solo evening slurping oysters at the bar. The food is pricey, but if you're into quality seafood options beyond fish, I'd definitely recommend it.
