OMG! We had the best time at The Blue Shrimp in Nuevo Vallarta. The atmosphere and ambience was…read morespectacular. As we walk into the restaurant, I was taken back by the beautiful view of the water and the wide open spares of the restaurant it self. The restaurant very tall ceiling made of palm tree branches. The lighting is beautiful and mystical. They have large pictures of the owner and famous actors and actress, and singers. They also have a large walk-in wine cooler that is visible from the outside. Very fun! We were grated right away by a very kind young man. We then were escorted to our table that was located towards the right side of the restaurant over looking the water. Definitely the best table in the restaurant. We were given menus and a cocktail/wine list. The hostess pulled out my mom's and my chair to be seated. After glancing over the menu we decided to order a bottle of wine for the four of us. My kids pick a Diet Coke and Dr. Peper. We were also given bottle water to drink as well. Once are drinks were ordered, we ordered dinner. My dad order the red snapper, my mom ordered the Lobster pizza, my husband ordered the mochaheta, my son got the Surf and Turf, my daughter ordered the sea food pasta, and I ordered the coconut shrimp. Everything came out amazing and out of this world yummy. The presentation was OMG!! Best restaurant we ate at over our 12 day stay. Can't wait to go back. And we even celebrated my daughter's birthday. The candle was my favorite party. See you guys soon.

Oh man, they did not disappoint. Starting first with the guacamole, which was made table-side, it was so fresh and seasoned just right. We decided to stay with the Shrimp entrees, my wife choosing the jumbo garlic, and i had the Arriero jumbo shrimp. I must say it was the BEST grilled shrimp we have ever had. It was butterflied, and was so succulent and tender. Just amazing. We finished off with the lava cake, and it was perfectly baked with a liquid chocolate center. We are staying at the Flamingos Villa Del Palmar, and it only a $9.00 Uber ride to the Restaurant. If your are craving grilled shrimp, this is the place to go.

The new name is Puerto Manjar and for the past seven mornings we enjoyed having breakfast here…read more It's located overlooking the beach, surf and the morning sun. The staff is wonderful and very funny. It's hard to make any change to your order if it's not exactly how it reads on the menu because you will be charged as it reads whether you want an item or not. There is a lot lost in translation here. But it's still worth coming here because I love to be served and the food is delicious. Always hot coffee, smoked salmon, bagels or sourdough bread, smoothies, waffles, French toast or pancakes and eggs any way you want them. We all loved having breakfast here and then walking over to the Punta pool which is next door for a wonderful relaxing day!

We didn't want spicy food. We went to Puerto Manjar (no longer called Costa Arena, which made it hard to find to write a review!) on the recommendation of the concierge at the Grand Mayan. It's the same place we visited 2 or 3 years ago. The prices are up, the quality is down. My grilled tuna was very flavorful and perfectly cooked (rare in the middle) but it came barely lukewarm. I think it was sitting around. Lack of waitstaff? The waiter offered to take it back, but I didn't want it to be overcooked, or to wait for a new piece of tuna, so I turned down the offer. The bread was good, but not as good as it used to be. I think they used to warm it. The waiter was very nice, but he was pushing more food and more wine on us, which I don't like. I asked for a taste of the wine I was considering ordering. It was literally a small sip. I ordered it before we ordered, but it didn't come with my tuna. I had to ask again, and then it arrived after the already cooling tuna was ever cooler. Two nice touches were the complimentary ceviche with mahi mahi (only so-so) and the complimentary macarons (good). Great sunset, but not great food, at pretty steep prices. But there aren't many choices for dinner. Several restaurants are only open for lunch. Only La Cantina can be labeled as "not expensive." And in Nuevo Vallarta, it's virtually impossible to leave the compound. I felt like Kay in Godfather 2. I would not go back.
