I ordered the Steak Ranchero and guacamole sauce for pick up. It was ready when I got there. The steak itself was pretty good. It was a bit more fatty than I anticipated. The plastic silverware that I got was not good for eating the steak, so I would not recommend for takeout unless you had a real knife to eat with! The guacamole sauce was definitely a sauce. The place is located off the highway with plenty of parking. It's a massive place with plenty of seating. I walk in and get seated at the booth. I was there on a Tuesday night so it wasn't very busy. As soon as I was seated, I was given chips and salsa. The chips were very good and the salsa wasn't bad. Just wished for a bit more flavor and kick with the salsa but it still does a serviceable job. My server was very helpful and attentive. The menu has a decent amount of options and I decided to go with the chicken chimicanga for my entree. It comes out fairly quickly and the chimicanga is covered with guacamole and sour cream with a healthy serving of beans and rice. The chimicanga is filled with just chicken and cheese and it's a bit smaller in size than what I'm used to. Regardless, the taste was very good. The chicken was cooked really well and seasoned nicely. The tortilla was perfectly crispy and the other sides worked harmoniously together. I really did enjoy the dish. Overall it's a good place to check out if you're in the area. When I'm back, I'd be interested in checking out their bar. read more

Me and my 2 year old son ate here last night, after my gas stove went out unexpectedly. I love Mexican food and my son also does, so I thought it would be a good choice. His birthday was also on the 4th so I figured his favorite type of food (tacos, rice and fries) would make him a little happy even if he may not remember it. My server was excellent, he was very sweet and was very quick to refill drinks and very prompt on service. I ordered 3 carne asada tacos, some cheese dip, and a quesadilla kids meal for my son. When my child got a little fussy I didn't want to disturb guests so I immediately asked for a box and my check and began to head out. Around 12:50 this morning, disaster strikes. My son wakes up in pain, crying his eyes out, saying "mama help," and "belly hurt." Before I could even begin to assess the situation, he's vomiting everywhere. I draw him a bath and clean him up and pull the sheets from his bed only for it to happen a second, and then a third time. After I finally get him to go to sleep around 3AM, I also begin cyclically vomiting. The next morning, my son has very foul and putrid persistent diarrhea & vomiting, and continuously complains that "belly hurt" I immediately return to the restaurant to let them know of a food borne illness and also to request a refund as I don't want to pay for food that made us very sick. I'm told "our boss left 10 minutes ago so you can come back later." I refuse, and they then tell me I have to "wait 20 minutes for a refund." Not only are food borne illnesses very serious especially for young children, but to arrive to the establishment and be told that I have to wait for hard earned money that I spent thinking that I would have a nice night is entirely unacceptable and also disrespectful to me as a patron. I strongly urge that if you bring young children here to pay attention to what you order and also keep your receipt ! Currently I am sitting in my car with my sick young son waiting on this "boss" to refund me my money. The only reason this has any stars at all is my server was delightful. Beware ! UPDATE: so the boss came and immediately asked me "why I didn't go to the emergency room" and then his wife stated that "plenty of people ate here and did not get sick," "you got sick from somewhere else" refused to give me a refund and basically gave me the run around and refused to help me with my issue. This is absolutely horrendous and to be such a popular place you should want to fix a customer concern and make sure every customer that comes to your establishment is satisfied regardless of whether you think they're "lying" or not. The food was ladened with lots of sodium. I guess I should've known better. I had the Pollo Michiano with the chorizo. Flour tortillas were an option. The friendly Mexican waiter didn't know what the premium Cadillac Margarita price was. So he guessed on the "lower side"! Of course it was higher priced! They were able to seat 20 of us with no wait, on a Friday night at 7pm. I can't complain about that. The food was ok, but then again, you're in a teeny tiny town in Ohio. You can't expect Texas/New Mexico quality Mexican food. Complimentary chips and salsa was nice, though. I had fish tacos, without the soft taco wrap, and the portion of fish, while small, was pretty good. You really can't ask for too much this far north of the border, so for what it is and where it is, it's decent. The margaritas were good, but a little light on the booze. The beers were pretty big though, and they're relatively inexpensive. There isn't much selection in town, and that's why when I return next year this will be one of my stops. read more

Well I'm from California to start, so I grew up around authentic Mexican food. Really hard to find here in Ohio but in my travels and off hwy 71 in a small town called Wilmington, El dorado is the best authentic Mexican food I've found! Service is phenomenal and the food is even better! It has become my regular spot. The staff is friendly and make you feel like family there! Promise you WONT be disappointed! I would rate this place no stars if that were an option. This restaurant has okay food, but the taste of it is ruined by the rudeness of the staff. The manager is easily one of the most arrogant and condescending people that I have met; and I work with the public in my profession, so that's saying a lot. My famliy will not be returning as long as he works there. This type of business is a hospitality business... to make people feel welcomed is the goal. El Dorado does not do this. The restaurant itself looks poorly maintained on the outside, and inside isn't much better. The bathrooms are okay, but the rest of the building could use some cleaning and dusting. Luckily, there is a better mexican restaurant in Wilmington now...La Fiesta Veracruz. It's at 37 Locust, and that is where my family has started to go now. Work late, stuck in traffic, home with no dinner plans: "What do you want for dinner?" usually produces an "El Dorado" response. Wilmington doesn't have much by way of real food options, so El Dorado is a sweet option that's close to home, cheap, has friendly and speedy service, and a bar. After work and traffic, their inexpensive DOS Equis is pretty much the main draw. I've been to El Dorado more times than I can count, usually for their lunch specials with colleagues. Prices range between $6-8 for combos during the day, and only slightly higher for dinner. The food is consistent and is flavorful and fresh. The margaritas usually leave me a little disappointed, since they're a little weak and light on the salt, so I've switched to ordering beer, which is always ice cold. Yay for a great place in our little town! This is a perfect spot for families, college students, and people just passing through town. read more

Mexican in Ohio?!?!? You've found the jackpot! El Dorado hosted a birthday dinner for 20+ and it was fantastic. The service from beginning to end was top notch. They were very accommodating with our large group, put us towards the back of the restaurant with a good amount of space, and handled our orders like pros. They even split our checks correctly and without even asking. Let's talk about the food. Mexican in Ohio sounds like death to me, but El Dorado brought me back to California and they do DAMN GOOD food here. The chips and salsa are on point. I had the fajitas (El Dorado Especial) which were the bomb, but I wish they gave me a choice between flour and corn tortillas. The beers were HUGE. Make sure you ask for a bottle unless you want 2.5 beers in a stein coming at you. The Margaritas looked huge too. BE CAREFUL. They also accommodated a birthday cake we brought in. The servers brought out extra plates and spoons, sang a song, brought our a sombrero, and had the candles lit and ready to go! BIG PROPS to this gem in Wilmington. Best food in Wilmington that I have found. Consistent and fresh. And the beers are huge. Gotta have a Dos Equis with Mexican food. The staff here is always friendly and the food is good. So many options that I try to get different things each time. There are two separate dining areas and a small cantina area. Stop by and give them a try and don't be afraid to try something different. El Doralds is one of the best restaurants in Wilmington, I personally have loved going to this restaurant ever since I was a little kid. The management is good, people are friendly, they have a wide spread of flavors and a large selection for just about everyone from vegetarians, to salads, to all of the Mexican taco eating people. They have a good tasting desserts also which is a good topper if you want something small to give you that filling that you want. If you want to go there for a fun time with some buddies then they offer a full bar (don't know what's there because I am too young to drink ATM) but it is a great place to chill out with the family, having a birthday party and even spending time with old friends. Wilmington in general just does not have good food. This place is like most places in Wilmington, just ok. When I walk in I ask for the warmest seat because I can tell it's cold in the restaurant. My entire meal I cannot take my jacket off and notice that all employees are wearing jackets. I'm eating lunch at noon and the place is virtually dead. I order the lunch fajitas. They are just like you think they would be when thinking of Mexican restaurant fajitas. Nothing special. The salsa is sub par, the atmosphere is boring. I've been eating here and one other Tex-Mex eatery for about 20 years. Have to say the guys waiting tables, the cantineros, are top shelf. Recently a man associated with this business and someone I considered as a friend passed away. From my first visit que hombre struck me as a friend who felt like someone I had known for a long time. The ambiance is par excellence as are the selections and reduced menu due to the Covid phenom! But, the quality is as good as any I've had in New Mexico or Texas where I lived for about a decade. The present management is the grandson of Frank, the hombre who is now hosting and greeting in another realm. God Bless Caesar and the other Cantineros on Staff presently aqui. Typical Mexican food. Most everything is pre-cooked therefore maybe 3 minutes after you order, your food will arrive. I had beef fajitas which had the consistency of shoe leather and no flavor. I tasted the other plates (there were 6 of us) and basically got the same result, no flavor. It gets one star for the salsa which was the best part of our meal. My advice if eating here, order something that you know has to be made fresh. Never again! read more

I have a eaten here a few times. The first couple were good and I really liked their cheese sauce. Was back in town this weekend and got the grilled chicken nachos again. There was no cheese on the chips, it was soup on the bottom of the plate. Wouldn't stay on a chip unless I tried soaking the chip in it. Asked for a side of cheese dip hoping it would be better but it was also like milk.. I informed the manager and she said she would talk to the kitchen. I wasn't charged for the extra cheese dip which was good as I would have had more of a discrepancy with the bill. Will try again based on my previous experiences but if I have another similar experience, definitely won't be back. read more
