Vaya. A local restaurant with all the right stuff. This is a tiny establishment, literally a mom and pop outfit. But mom and pop are both Cuban, and they are wonderful cooks... and hosts... and the atmosphere here is like in your Tía Julia's kitchen, with Tío Monín telling jokes.
The food is amazing, in that it is authentic. The ropa vieja is always spot-on. The yuca is tender, and the mojo is always just right. And the maduros? Hot and flavorful and made to order. They even have guayaba and cream cheese available for dessert. Yeah, just like my tía Julia. This really IS a taste of home, without being pretentious. This feels like... family. read more
