We specialize in authentic homemade American cookies. Our cookies are made from scratch using natural and premium ingredients (one example is our vanilla which is made from fermenting Tahitian vanilla beans for over 3 months).
Our cookies also make incredible gifts for family, friends, birthdays and corporate events. We offer many flavors which are sure to please everyone (even gluten free!).
We also make small batch baked goods from scratch such as brownies, lemon bars, halfway cookies and cinnamon rolls. These recipes come from our mothers and grandmothers, which give them a distinctly American flavor.
History
Established in 2022.
We are Alicia and Sean Turner, a wife and husband team who went from being ESL (English as a Second Language) teachers to cookie cafe owners!
Alicia grew up in the kitchen baking with her mother and grandmothers. She loved helping and "taste testing" everything they made. Using family recipes, she carries on generations of baking traditions.
Sean has a lot of experience in the food service industry and loves making people feel like family when they visit. He makes some of the best coffee!
After teaching for over a decade, we decided to change careers and make Alicante, Spain our home. With a goal of providing delicious food, excellent customer service and creating a community space, we opened El Cookie, in March 2022.
Meet the Business Owner: Alicia T.
Hi! I'm Alicia and you will find me in the kitchen of El Cookie.
I grew up baking with my mom and grandmothers and I have so many happy memories of times spent in the kitchen. Many of the recipes I use at El Cookie come from family cook books, which means that you won't find cookies like ours anywhere else!
During the Covid-19 lockdown I rediscovered my passion for baking, as well as baking science. I spent hours reading textbooks and watching videos online. I loved learning how ingredients worked together and how they functioned in baking. I also made a course on the science of baking to help others feel more confident in the kitchen.
When I am not baking I love to read, walk in the park and spend time with my husband Sean and our three cats. I'm currently in the process of writing children's books about two of the cats! I can't wait to see you at El Cookie!
