Great place to pop in and have some tapas and a glass of wine or beer. The prices are a little more than what you spend on regular bistro but you pay for quality more than quantity. Don't expect to quench your hunger with a couple of tapas as portions are small. But a great place to taste and people watch. Definitely a place to watch passerby shopping and families rushing to get to another place.

I came here alone, was seated in the front section at a high top with a beautiful view of the starlit bar. This would be a great spot for a date. I ordered the jamon and chorizo croquetas. The chorizo was different than any croqueta I've had, I would recommend trying it for this reason. I then ordered the arroz a la Banda seco. The rice was so crispy and delicious and the shrimp was small but flavorful. Finally I finished with the flan, which had an almost orange marmalade syrup finish on top. The whipped cream tasted more savory than sweet which I didn't mind. It was definitely homemade. Everything was delicious and the waiters were all so attentive and kind. Sometimes it can be awkward eating alone, but I felt at home here and would definitely come back. I made a reservation as it's a popular restaurant and Michelin recommended, but I saw people walk in with no issue as well. Thank you Pablo and Jimmy for the outstanding service !

Very busy restaurant and happy to get a table for 1 despite having no reservation. Ordered the house red wine and cam with some oil roasted Spanish peanuts and natural marcona almonds complimentary- delish. For my meal I had the asparagus and a veal entrecôte style. The food was excellent and the service was great though at a relaxed Spanish place vs the hurry up USA style. I will definitely come back as the menu is extensive with more than 100 items in total. Highly recommended.

This was my first stop in Alicante after a three day yoga retreat in Albir where EVERYTHING was vegan, as well as sugar and salt free. As my first meal back in the real world, it did not disappoint. The iberico cured ham was amazing and the oyster the freshest I've ever had - might have to stop by again for more oysters! The ham croquette was somewhat lacking in depth of flavor, but the manchego was delicious and a huge portion. Highly recommend.

Super wonderful tapas bar and restaurant. Air air-conditioned and friendly staff Alfonso was our waiter and even helped us out with Spanish lessons. Everything was four-star wonderful menu selection. Local spot, so nice to be the only tourists in the restaurant. Visit the spot and you will not be disappointed.

As good as everyone says this place is. In the states, I'd probably give La Taberna del Gourmet a 4, but for the area this place is definitely as good as it gets. The service and food is the best we've had at a restaurant in Spain so far. La Taberna del Gourmet is the only restaurant we've been to in Spain that had a few staff that could speak fluent English and Spanish. For two, we were able to get a table without a reservation right away. The prices of the food here is not expensive as you may think considering the yelp rating of 3 euros (at least if you are from the US). We spent about $50 euros on two people and were pretty stuffed. We wanted to get the tasting menu, but unfortunately the kitchen would be closing up in an hour, so our waiter advised against it as we may not get all our food. Apparently, when it's time for the kitchen to close up, they are adamant about it (definitely very Spain-like). He advised that we order maybe half of the tapas menu. Instead we ended up just ordering what interested us and planned on sharing everything. My fiancé ordered: ***The aubergine (eggplant) small sandwich - flavorful and fresh, but small ***Toasted bread with tomato jelly and olive oil- tasted very fresh, but could've used some sort of seasoning. My least favorite dish of the night (although this seemed like a very popular tapa to have in Spain from what I saw at other restaurants). I've just never been a fan of eating fresh uncooked tomato. The fiancé wanted Langoustine, but unfortunately they were out. I ordered: ***Large entree of steak and garlic (with potatoes) - best thing of the night. Steak was cooked perfectly. Very tender and flavorful. Green onions paired well with the dish. Perfectly seasoned. Potatoes were good, but would've preferred if the seasoning were richer in fat (like with cheese used some sort of cream). The could've used a little more salt or herbs as well. ***Goat cheese topped in herbs with honey- I love goat cheese with honey, so I knew would like this. This is something that I could make at home, but they still executed it well here. The goat cheese was baked perfectly and the herbs tasted fresh; the honey used seemed high quality. ***Starter: Olive oil and bread with olives and Nuts- Just okay to me.Very simple. I had to add salt and pepper to the bread, so that it wouldn't be so bland. Olive oil was definitely top notch. I just wish there was balsamic vinegar or something else paired with the olive oil. Maybe this is a Spain thing, but I prefer things a little more seasoned ( a US thing maybe). I ended up using some of the bread as a base to put the goat cheese dip on. ***We ordered sangria as well and it was solid. Our server, Enrique, was great. Thankfully, he is probably one of the few people in the city who was able to speak English to us. He also gave us some recommendations on what else we should see in the region. Overall, La Taberna Gourmet is probably one the best restaurants in Alicante if you value both service and quality ingredients. The price is reasonable as well. The most expensive thing we had was our steak dish and that was fairly priced at 24 euros. Also, great if you want to experience authentic Spanish food and it's your first time. The ambiance is also very ideal for a date night as the interior looks more upscale than some of the other restaurants in Spain. Summary: Steak and garlic dish is a must have. Some staff can speak English. Great for beginners who want to experience authentic Spanish food. Very fresh ingredients. Walking distance from the major hotels. Would come back to eat here in a heartbeat.

I asked everyone around Alicante for a good place for tapas and wine.. They all pointed out to Taverna del Gourmet so we gave it a shot. To start off the place itself it's very cozy. The local wine selection is to die for, then we proceed to get some of the most amazing thin, cured Ox paired with some spicy chorizo and local cheeses. But by far the Black Paella with Octopus was AMAZING!!! At the end of the meal, our teeth and lips were black lol All worth it!!

We really enjoyed picking from the trays filled with little wooden boards, each offering something different. We made it our mission to try as many as possible, and we loved every single one! It's also awesome that everything is priced the same, which makes it super easy. We paired our meal with some refreshing tinto de verano, and it was perfect! The whole atmosphere was so much fun and interactive, especially counting the boards to see how many we devoured and figuring out the bill. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, making our time there truly unforgettable. We didn't wait much for a table but there was a big line when we were leaving, it is definitely a very popular place and we can see why! Can't wait to go back!

This place serves different as you don't order the tapas from the menu as they constantly bring trays of hot tapas from the kitchen and this is how you select. When I was there you were fortunate if there were any tapas left when the servers got to your table. Tapas were tasty and cheap and the beer was good too. Great place to go for a quick tapas Lunch or dinner! I recommend the calamari , squid and fried cheese. FYI, lots of fried tapas so may not be the best healthy choice.

I started with a rice cake they call a soccorat (like the paella crust) topped with a tartare of the sweetest and freshest prawn. Superb! Next was a peeled whole tomato stuffed with a mousse of cured ventresca (tuna belly) and served atop a tomato soup like a creamy gazpacho. Another winning dish that takes familiar ingredients and through technique makes them special and elevated. The next tapa was a skewer with a single langoustine tail crusted with the Turkish strands you often find in middle eastern desserts. The langoustine tail was stuffed with a little portion of melted Brie cheese. So good. The last tapa was octopus pieces atop wonderfully browned potatoes that managed to be both crisp on the outside and meltingly tender inside. Superb. For dessert I took the server's recommendation and had the apple dessert, which was a sort of deconstructed apple tart that was the essence of apple. They comped me a generous shot or two of a beautiful local dessert wine. Service was gracious and helpful. The prices are treasonable for food of this quality. I really enjoyed my meal here!
