My wife and I got a late lunch here on January 10th. The service was great and the food was well-made with excellent portion sizes for the price. They seemingly have endless chips and salsa. She ordered the Texas-Style Quesadilla and I got the Taco Salad. The food was cooked to perfection and the portions were massive. We both had our fill and had to get boxes for leftovers. Authentic Mexican Cuisine! Service is excellent and there is Plenty of parking, wheelchair accessible. Awesome music! We wanted to dance in our seats. Big combo, El Compadre in Mitchell is excellent! I ate there twice in this past week as I'm visiting from Central California. I grew up in Columbus and on my occasional trips here, I search far and wide for authentic Mexican food. El Compadre has a small section on the menu for actual Mexican food, not whitewashed, bland food like most of the other restaurants. Hands down, it's worth the trip. I ordered adobo chicken taco and a carne asada taco with a side of rice. The food was deliciously spiced, served piping hot and just the right amount of salt and flavor in the rice. The corn tortillas were fresh and perfectly warmed. The music playing at the visit during lunch was a reggaeton. The decor is lovely and lively and overall a clean appearance. Bedford, Paoli and a few others have an El Compadre. I highly recommend for REAL tasting Mexican food. read more

When my family first relocated to Indiana from San Diego, the thing we missed most was good Mexican food. We were so happy to find a El Compadre that had TJ style street tacos. We have been going back for more ever since! Whether you prefer carne asada, EL Pastor style, or carnitas, you can't go wrong here. Always juicy delicious soft tacos with fresh ingredients. We have tried many offerings from there over the years and have never been disappointed. The service is always great with polite and accommodating staff. Had an evening meal last evening with seven adults. Service was wonderful. Service was very quick. I ordered two street flour tacos, pastor type. The meat was very dry and some pieces VERY tough. Looked like and tasted as though it had been reheated SEVERAL times. Everyone enjoyed their taco salads. The sweet tea was undrinkable. read more

It's hard to find really good Mexican food in the area. This place does a decent job at doing the classic dishes decently well. Across the table, the highlights were the sopes for sure. There was a substancial amount of meat and it was well seasoned. Apart from that, everything else was a little lackluster but nothing was bad. The steak taco meat was tough, but decent. The lettuce, tomatoes, and other toppings just weren't as fresh as they could be. The salsa for the chips and salsa was very mild. No spice whatsoever. When we asked for spicier salsa, we got salsa that was heavier on the spicy, but then lacked flavor. If you're in the area and really want Mexican, you won't go wrong here. It's ok and I would eat here again if I was craving Mexican food and staying in the area. But it's not a place I'm raving about to my friends and families either. read more

This is my favorite restaurant for hunting outings near Mitchell. The margaritas are outstanding. The service is always good and the servers are always friendly. I like the seafood platter except I get extra coconut shrimp instead of catfish. They're happy to accommodate. The inside is tastefully decorated in Mexican motif. I'll be eating at their sister restaurant of the same name in Paoli next week. And, will return to Mitchell in mid November. read more

We went to El Compadre in Mitchell today.(we live in Bedford but prefer the friendly atmosphere in Mitchell) We were seated and waited on promptly. I ordered my food with shredded chicken. Our meals were brought to our table relatively quickly. The food was great except I was given beef instead of chicken. I brought it to our waitress's attention and she went straight away to correct the meal. When she brought back my Enchilada and Chimichanga, they were both much larger and perfect!! Our waitress was Shelby and she was wonderful. Looking forward to a return to this great place. read more

Yum yum in my Tum Tum!! Drove down for the weekend to spend time with my family in a Mom-n-Pop town. Decided to order Mexican Delivery to support Local Business. The food was excellent and was very well handled by the delivery girl, considering we had three dogs answer the door. If you ever decide to park there, the best parking is on the East Side of the building in a big gravel lot. Normally, I would suggest particular food but with this Mom-n-Pop restaurant, anything is good! If you like Margaritas, this is the place to go for a Friday evening kick back. read more

We usually order food to go since the virus. We live in the country so it takes about 10 minutes to get to a restaurant. We ordered and my husband picked up our food. The order had a wrong entree and missing extras. I had to drive back to the restaurant to get our order right. They offered to give us the food we ordered for "free" which was a joke since we had already PAID for it. Word of caution: Be sure to check your order BEFORE you leave the parking lot. read more
