When you arrive there is parking in front of the restaurant as it's located in a shopping plaza. When you walk in you'll feel like you've been transported to a trendy, energetic, and coastal beach restaurant. There are also TVs at the bar if you are looking to watch sports. We checked in with the host and opted for a table. To start we ordered the queso (Smoky queso, pico de gallo, fresh cilantro) and added the smoky chorizo. The queso was very good and had a great smoky flavor with a little spice. You'll want to order an appetizer as chips are not complimentary. For drinks my partner ordered the strawberry mojito (Bacardi limon, mint, lime, soda, strawberry) which was good and on the sweeter side. I ordered the Desert Fire (Jalapeño infused lunazul, triple sec, chipotle simple syrup, lime, spicy rim) which was on the spicier side but was so good. For mains my partner ordered the Mahi Wrap (Blackened mahi, napa-romaine mix, fresh avocado, honey chipotle sauce, Caribbean salsa, grilled flour tortilla with seasoned fries) which had a nice balance of flavors. The fish was a bit overcooked but the seasoned fries and flavors made up for the dry fish. I ordered the surf & turf burrito (Grilled shrimp, marinated steak, queso rice, grilled onions, pico de gallo, queso fresco, baja crema, topped with habanero onions & arugula, cilantro served with black beans) topped with the tomato cream sauce. The sauce had a nice smoky flavor and the shrimp were cooked perfectly. As for the steak, kind of the same issue as the fish where it was overcooked/cooked well done. For dessert we ordered the Sugar churros (Whipped cream, caramel dipping sauce) which were served piping hot and they go perfectly with the dip. We ended up stirring the whipped cream and the caramel sauce together. I definitely would stop by salt & lime cabo grill for mexican food but would opt for just shrimp as the main meat vs mahi or steak. Looking forward to my next visit to salt & lime.

But where was I? Well, here twice. Once I had the pile of meat mentioned above, and another I got meat on lettuce that was... wait, did I? Forgettable. The pile of meat was nicely cooked, nothing dry or tough, no chicken brought within degrees of sawdust for the sake of food safety. The Palomas are tasty and a good use of Tajin. The servers wear their tenure on their faces. They've been doing this so long they've become a bit plastic. Attentive, but you feel more like baggage on a conveyor than their guest. The positive reviews drew me here so we were looking forward to some authentic Mexican food. We came on a Saturday night, fairly late in the evening because, let's be honest, us Miamians do everything late. We were told there would be a wait for a large table, but the host was very attentive and suggested seating us in two separate booths across from each other for quicker seating. He did mention there would be live entertainment starting soon but little did we know....Since we had two children with us, including a baby who was already exhausted and asleep, we happily agreed. Although the booths were directly across from one another, we later discovered hearing each other was going to be a challenge. Before I get to that, let's talk about the food. After reviewing the very lengthy menu, we joked that it felt like the Mexican version of a Cheesecake Factory menu. Thankfully, our choices stood out and were quick to pick what we were feeling for. I ordered the Mexican Burrito, stuffed with steak, shrimp, chicken, and rice. It was huge, so I could only manage half of it. Hubby went with the Mar y Tierra tacos, and those grilled corn tortillas really elevated the his steak and shrimp. It was served with rice and black beans and was packed with flavor. Now, the reason I didn't give five stars was unfortunately because of the live entertainment. A local Mexican band arrived to perform for the rest of the evening. Normally, I really love any form of entertainment. I'm from Miami, so a lively atmosphere is almost expected. Unfortunately, this was just way too loud and made it nearly impossible to hear anyone at our table. Even the waitress had to come within breathing distance to take our orders, and we definitely couldn't hear our family sitting in the booth across from us. The band itself was actually awesome. They sounded great with has amazing energy, had customers singing along, and even got a few couples up dancing. It was just incredibly loud. Our baby deserves a special shoutout because he somehow slept through the entire thing without even flinching. I honestly have no idea how. On a scale of 1 to 10, the noise level was easily a 15. It's the one thing I can't overlook because we were really looking forward to catching up and chatting with family, and that simply didn't happen. That said, the food was delicious, the service was excellent, and we left with plenty of leftovers to enjoy the next day.

The service was very good with what seemed to be a newer server. She checked in quite often until it was time to bring the check. Had to ask her for that after about a 10 minute wait after she cleaned off the table. Outside of that, very friendly and attentive. The ACP had very thin slices of chicken which was nice, but not as much cheese as you typically see in other restaurants. According to the server, you do have to ask for some flour tortillas on the side if you want them as they don't come by default. The Pollo Tropical had a nice thin layer of chicken breast covered in cheese.... tasty. The margaritas were good and have a smear of taijin on one side of the rim which gives the drink a little spice. Prices are in line with other restaurants in the area. Definitely would recommend it.

When we went on a Friday at lunch it wasn't initially too crowded but quickly got busy at 12/12:30. You order at the counter. I grabbed chips and salsa, the El Diablo taco and Steak Al Cabron taco, and a soft drink. In total, I think was around $20. As I mentioned, the place got busy quick so it took a little bit to get our food out to us but no worries because we had our chips and drinks to enjoy. I found the tacos to be amazing and hefty. I am torn about paying $6 for a single taco. That being said, I would pay for these $6 tacos again. Definitely a fun little spot to grab lunch with friends. I would encourage you though to give yourself 1.5 - 2 hours in case you come during a busier time like we did.

I went for a half chicken with the rice, beans, and a side of corn. This also comes with your choice of flour or corn tortillas. I also got 3 tacos- chicken, steak, and shrimp. I had everything with flour tortillas. The total for all- which could've fed 2-3 people, was around $45. The quality of the food was AMAZING. The steak and chicken tacos were sooo juicy and good that I've been wanting to go back just to get it again. If you try any taco, get the steak. There is also a salsa bar, and the first greenish/white sauce (cilantro crema?) was so good on everything so don't forget to grab a cup or 2. I later had the chicken with rice, beans, and corn and was extremely satisfied. I probably won't eat at another chicken spot other than this now. In addition to great food and good service- the restaurant is so pretty and modern inside. It was surprisingly empty and had so much seating inside and outside.

I will admit that walking in I was a little intimidated because this is a lively Mexican restaurant that provides a festive dining-and-drinks 'experience' at night. It is known for its energetic, colorful space with music, TVs, and a nightlife feel. I did not know what to expect. We were seated and asked for the '$6.99 lunch menu' (although their normal lunches are just a few dollars more). They brought complementary seasoned chips and salsa that were a delight. I picked the Enchiladas Verdes (normally $11, but is on their lunch menu for $7) and my wife picked the Enchiladas Supreme. They both came with rice and lettuce. Fresh, light, and full of flavor. I had a sweet tea and my wife an unsweetened tea ($3.25 each). We moved here from California and have been to great Mexican restaurants there, and La Buena Vida is right up there with the best of them. The rice and lettuce were fresh, the Enchiladas were freshly made with excellent layers of wonderfully flavored sauces! Not heavy, absolutely delightful servings. If you are looking for a great find for a light lunch at an excellent price, then visiting La Buena Vida is something worth stopping by for. Our bill would have been about $10 per person (Each of us had 2 Enchiladas and a drink). With Tax and tip figure about $26 (there is a 3% surcharge for using credit cards), but we split a Tres Leches cake for dessert ($10). So with a large tip and taxes our full meal, drinks and dessert ran $40. The staff was wonderful, they checked on us often. During the day, the setting is quiet and you can hear others speaking (important for us older folk).
