I found El Cid while looking for a tax preparer online. I was very apprehensive, I called and spoke with Christina who gave me a quote for the taxes I would have to file. I was relieved at the simplicity. She then sent me an email with all of the documents I could either upload and send or bring by the office. I chose to drop it off at the office. I sent an email to several book keepers and services advertised on Craigslist. I got a phone call (not an email response but a phone call) from Christina within 10 minutes. She spoke to me clearly and directly. She calmed my fears about the state of affairs with our books and assured me that El Cid could help. I came to El Cid with our books in shambles. We paid a "book keeper" to train someone in our church to manage our books. Needless to say between the two of them, they made a complete mess of our records and data. I have been with El Cid Since Jan of 2009 (4 1/2 years) I have always found them to be extremely professional and responsible. I found their rates to be more than competitive. For the level of service I get I would say that it is a bargain. I have also found them very receptive to all my needs. I have a very high end Tax Accountant that they work in conjunction with very well. They handle all my corporate bookkeeping needs for my tv production company. I brought my corporation's Quickbooks mess to El Cid. Raul handled me, my account, and my company as if it were his own - caring and knowledgeable. That's very difficult to find in accounting in my opinion. El Cid has responded quickly and decisively to help me out, and Raul has been there to guide us and explain things in laymans terms. Although I'm not a believer in having to have a retainer with an accountant, it's worth it to get the kind of service I'm getting from them. Gotta love her reply.. "selves" not "Self's" Your partner said that you DID offer bill pay services at an hourly rate. YES, once you all never delivered on the date mentioned in the email from Sandra, I changed all passwords. I am not sure what you've typed re Debit card? 1. I gave you a credit card (for cash back rewards per my email to you) 2. Payments were with PayPal. Do to the fact that we DID NOT receive the work completed as promised, paid for and indicated on your emails, PayPal gave us a full refund. A rep from QuickBooks contacted them on my behalf to discuss and review. That's how bad it was. They reviewed AII of my emails to you. You tried to contact me many times re my password? Try 2x and only for BofA I sat down with two of your reps, Ingrid (She is amazing, She quit to go to a better place) and Sandra. You guys never even bothered to contact me the moment I have a new account manager until almost a month later. I have confirmed with BofA that you kept getting blocked due to the fact that you all are using an unsecure server! You should have gotten a letter from BofA... Run and don't walk. I will be adding the full details for this review. Long to short. They can't be trusted. Check your invoices and match them to the activity in your QB and bank logins. If you have a question for Gorge, they will 150. For hour for a 15 minute question. Christina the owner is extremely rude. I'll be posting some of her replies. They are very unorganized. Every time I went in they had someone's bank statements on the floor in a starch with offers. You will have one account manager and that will change a few times. They won't notify you that the person they've let go (having all your passwords) has been terminated. Then they will place you with a new account manager and Bill you for her time playing catch up. Every single thing I had gone through with Ingrid, i had to go over with the new account manager Ingrid. I was shocked when I got my bill. 1400. For one month 650. Plus 245. For the next. Sandra has a nasty attitude as well. I called her before Christina gave meter word that she would be personally resolving the issue with my QBs and I told her I thought it that we go the business manager route due because the billups were actually higherZ She said "I think that's the best idea" Sandra also told Me that she would resolve this account. I still have not heard from her. I Was told that my QB was all set and complete. And it is not. My payroll taxes and info are missing. My lawyer did a review on on my QB and it is incomplete. There is much more to the story and I'll post later. Just wanted to get this out as these people cannot be trusted. Read your contract they have you sign. You will be able to use it against them.. I'll be updating this. Beware: 150. Per hour for gorge is not only for returns it's for questions, meeting to review in case they fire an employe. They charger you for their problems. Unorganized Rude staff They are not tech savvy Behind in times. Your personal info is compromised They will try and blame you does wry single little thing. I found this company through Craigslist and as we were looking for a new bookkeeper, I got in touch with them. The owner Christina was very responsive and answered my questions well on the phone. I then arranged to drop off our books and computer which had our Quickbooks file on it a week or so later. The one-star review refers not to the staff (who were very professional) but to the misleading pricing. I was told the hourly rate would be for $35. Great, I thought - we had our Quickbooks file, our bills etc.. were in files and our 2 corporations (one dormant and the other brand new and yet to really generate) so I expected it to be very reasonable. The price is quoted on how long it takes to do the first month's worth of reconciliations and then they multiple that figure by 12...OK, I thought, sounded fair enough... Instead I was quoted nearly $10,000 just to set up our books and send info on to our accountant to do the actual return. At $35/hour, I figured they thought it would take them over 247 hours to simply set up Quickbooks and input data from a couple who didn't have a lot of expenses and who had 2 businesses that had no payroll or real expenses or income. Not impressed. When I asked Christina about this and let her know what I paid previously, her response was terse and she made no other attempt to explain herself other than "..your figures will be accurate". Lastly..I checked them out on Yelp and discovered they were running a Yelp deal which no-one had bothered to mention. Sorry El Cid but that's just sleazy. I am sure there are other services out there who genuinely care about prospective clients and don't just see them as walking dollar signs. read more

We are looking for a bookkeeper to visit our office for a few hours, once every week. Had a wonderful call with Christina, the manager at EL CID. I am learning that very few agencies do site visits any longer. They all want to work from their own location. I found this on almost all the calls I made. After firing my CEO who couldn't seem to keep things straight, I found El Cid. They reconciled my 3 companies back to 2005, prepared undone tax returns, and returned our company to a position where we could finally manage it properly. We had used several bookkeeping services for our two companies (an entertainment LLC and a small law firm) over the last couple of years and wound up with our books in a mess (though we were partly responsible, however they made it worse). I help to manage a small business, handle A/P and act as an office manager. The other reviews are completely incorrect. Christina and her staff do a fine job. She and her co-workers had to clean up a very messy set of books for our business and did so in a patient and professional manner. They also had to work with our lawyers and did so in a cooperative manner. There is no bait and switch that goes on here, nor is there any hard sell in regards to which software to use.
