Maybe I caught them at the end of a bad day. Ordered 3 street Tacos to go before I could get up Beach I was pulling over to throw up. a Homeless guy asked was I ok and all I could muster was "Tacos". Now everything looked good and clean when I was in the Restaurant but man that Taco came back up like it was late for work. I probably won't go back to this one too give them a second chance as I usually do. Just can't do it. Sorry!

El Chef Tacos is the latest eatery to reside at Beach and Hazard, you can't miss it, it's on the east side next to that awful Popeye's. I really liked the décor of the place, and was immediately greeted by a friendly server. I noticed that the food was sitting in serving trays and started to make a decision, to which the server guided me toward the Baracoa for a protein. We ordered the following: Street Baracoa tacos: 3 stars, 2 stars for the flavor, and an extra star for the portion size: I thought these were just ok. I liked the portion size; I appreciated it since I could tell the server hooked them up a bit. The meat was dry to me; thankfully the server gave us a container of broth to use for our tacos. I got the fixings on the side, but again the tacos were ok, not sure that I would order that again. Chicken quesadilla: 4 stars, 3 stars for the flavor, and an extra star the portion size. I really liked how they had the quesadilla filled up with chicken, and they provided lettuce, tomatoes, and sour cream. I would order this again for sure. Overall I would say this experience is just OK. I know of plenty of places that prepare your food when you order, and I am starting to really taste the difference. I am going to come back to try some other things and will update my review, but for now this is a 3 star review! Thanks. #17/2016

I have been driving by this place a Few times now, but finally decided to come in. Small little restaurant, nothing too special aesthetically but the foods is awesome. I hesitated at first and only ordered a few items to test the water but ended up buying almost $50 worth of tacos and fries for my family. So full, I think my belly is about to explode lol. Love the service, cashiers and prepper knew their foods and took their time to introduce the items to me.

The 2 guys behind the counter and in the small cooking area on Sundays are great. The best four items to get when coming here is the fish tacos, ther machaca burrito, the shredded beef hardshell tacos, and their carnitas sopes. Their refried beans in the machaca burritos are similar to the pureed type of beans and really make the burrito. You gotta eat it there and definitely put their taco sauce from the squeeze bottle on your food. It has the right kick and flavor that enhances everything. The food always comes out fresh and hot. I can't speak for the other food items. The four items we usually order is tried and true.

I got fish, shrimp, and a potato taco since supposedly that was good too, it was very crispy and flavorful, my favorite though is from The Corner in HB for a mashed potato taco ;) SHRIMP: think this was primo - shrimp felt warm, big, juicy, flavorful, there was hotsauce on it as the menu states iirc. Might consider getting TWO of these instead of the fish. FISH: solid! Comparable to the ensenada fish tacos in fullerton I think? Or maybe that one is slightly better, been awhile. Overall - solid spot, not the cheapest but the quality is good and they don't skimp on protein. Not as good as tacos los cholos but that's further away, this is next door and again - they specialize in different meats!

Decided to drop in and was delighted to know their Taco Tuesday special is $1 street tacos for a select handful of 8 protein fillings and $2 for 6 other choices. Even their regular price is still very reasonable. There was definitely a line around 6pm but it moved quickly. Love that they also have a self service taco condiments bar and area on the side of their truck where you can top your food with the freshly sliced or pickled veggies/chilis and slather on various taco sauces to your heart's content. Especially loved that they use a rotating gyro style meat grill for some of their meats. I also noticed they had another truck/van parked nearby where one of the staff would go to replenish some of their supplies for their taco truck. What an efficient way to keep up with demand by having a mobile/secondary vehicle that you can use for storage of stock to keep up with the high demand. I loved all the street tacos that I tried: carnitas, fried fish filet, al pastor, carne asada. Flavorful and done right! Definitely recommend this spot any day of the week when they're open, but especially for their Taco Tuesday specials.

Guac was sorta under seasoned but it was still a good creamy addition to the steaming hot taquito. 2 Dorato taco plate - these were similar to the taquitos in all the good ways but even more packed with meat, crisp lettuce and mounds of freshly graded cheese...damn good! Looked around and this is what everyone had, even people after us. Must order one of these! YES, it will fill you up! Guac Mexicana - freshly made guac to order and it was great! Flavor was perfect and went well with everything. Beans - we're bean lovers and these were so good I had to call it out. The pico de gallo is a must as well, don't miss out on it. Spicy though! This is a must try for anyone in a 10-15 mile radius....and any closer you should run there! The restaurant was very clean, staff were attentive and pleasant from entry to exit...we couldn't be happier with our experience. Kudos to this place for running a restaurant the right way!
