We entered and were quickly seated. We were given chips and salsa which were ok. I ordered tacos, one beef, one chicken. It was ok and not the best I have had. They were ok on taste but just that, Ok. I also tasted my friends burrito. It was once again just ok. The people in the group also agreed that it was not the best and that we had better. They cater to my dad's taste with avocados on the side, and my mom's need to not have cheese all over her lean chicken with cheese on the side. However, the last few times have seen a slide. Quality of ingredients is down and the love shown in professional waiting left. Date of Visit: 8.22.19 Time: 11:30 am Location: In the nondescript shopping plaza across the street from the entrance to Pisgah National Forest. Turn at the bike shop. Parking: Fills up quickly when the Fish Camp restaurant picks up. Seating: You seat yourself. We were greeted almost immediately. It looks like the restaurant would be tiny from the front but it runs deep. There are plenty of booth seats throughout and in the front room alone there are at least three table setups that could easily hold 10 people each. So the tables can be broken up too. Quirk: Unless using cash, there is a 4% "service fee." Meh. Styrofoam to-go containers didn't appear to seal well. Service: Quick and friendly. Complimentary chips and salsa with refills. Payment: Pay at the counter, and that 4% fee... Restrooms: They divide the front half of the restaurant from the back, on your left. Women's room holds just two separate stalls. Clean, just dated. Paper towel dispenser had a hard time coughing up a towel to use. Food: I ordered a vegetarian platter with a burrito, tostada, and a quesadilla. It's a lot of refried beans on one platter, but I get it. The quesadilla is strait cheese that is a bit salty or buttery and there is A LOT on it. Maybe too much? The tostada is served with lettuce, sliced tomato (not pico), and guacamole on it. I didn't see this listed so I ordered what I thought was a small side of guac. but ended up with a side portion for chips. The guacamole is good and is seasoned with lime, cilantro, and tomatoes. I recently went somewhere else and it was pretty much just mashed up avocado and that was it. The rice is really good and flavorful (and probably made with chicken stock - I'm guessing). Husband ordered a lunch special (from noon - 2 pm) and was so happy with his chimichanga with (ground beef, chicken or beef tips) that he mentioned it to the man we checked out with. He said it was perfectly fried. It's not a ton of food (huge burritos, etc.), but just the right amount. I wasn't a huge fan of the enchilada/red sauce - not the standard red in-the-can sauce. This is in fact very tomato-based. Perhaps I am just not used to it. We will be back. read more

This is your typical Mexican restaurant. The chips and salsa, refried beans, cheese, were exactly like every other Mexican restaurant I've been to. I will say that the tilapia chipotle burrito I had was one of the best burritos I've had. Everyone else at the table enjoyed the meal, but it wasn't outstanding or bad, just run-of-the-mill. I've been going here for years. Friendly, fast service. Good chips and salsa brought out to you quickly. I usually order the fajita quesadilla (chicken). Large portion, plenty of meat, lots of cheese, onions, and bell peppers in a large tortilla. The usual Mexican joint refried beans and lettuce, guac and sour cream on the side. The prices are very reasonable. Its usually fairly busy, but service is extremely quick, regardless. read more

Food was average. I ordered a chicken enchilada and I think I got beef. I wasn't sure, because it was ground meat, so maybe it was ground chicken. But, I have never had a ground chicken enchilada. I order the lunch special #3 and the server changed it to #8, which was 3.00 more. I told him and he changed it back, but when I checked out, I was charged an extra 3.00 anyway and the guy at the register then said my friend's meal was more because of some reason we did not understand. We might come back here sometime if we're really in the mood for some tacos and beer, but only because we're close and Taco Bell doesn't serve beer. I gave them two stars instead of one only because we've come to expect mediocrity in Brevard. Honestly, we came here HOPING for mediocre Mexican food. We've given up on finding good Mexican in Brevard considering the town's palate seems to gravitate towards bland, but this was pretty rank. The floors were sticky and the decor was garish, but those would have been easily overlooked had the food been halfway decent. I got the garlic shrimp, which is a fairly simple dish in terms of flavoring. I was pleasantly surprised to find the shrimp weren't overcooked and there were quite a few of them, but that was were the pleasant ended. Instead of being seasoned with a pleasant blend of olive oil or butter, minced garlic, a little salt and pepper, and perhaps some lemon or lime juice, I was served shrimp that were absolutely coated in nothing but garlic powder with a bit of oil holding it on. If there were any other seasonings whatsoever (which, judging from the appearance, there weren't), they were completely overwhelmed by the garlic powder. I love garlic - real garlic. Garlic powder has its place, but not as a primary, let alone sole, seasoning. My husband's enchiladas were bland and tasted mostly canned. He ordered a beef taco as well, which seemed to be ground beef that was cooked with no seasoning whatsoever thrown into a shell. Honestly, you can make better tacos at home with a grocery store taco kit - at least those have a bit of flavor to them. Give them a shot if you're really desperate, but if you have half an hour, driving to Hendersonville for good Mexican is your best bet. read more

Not very good. Decided to give this place a try based on my teenage sons opinion. I shouldn't have listened, he will eat anything. The chips were kind of stale. I ordered a chicken quesadilla, which is usually pretty good and simple wherever you go. When my plate arrived the quesadilla looked very soggy. Took one bite and I knew why. It was chicken which tasted like canned chicken. It had the consistency of chicken and dumplings. I ate a few bites and couldn't eat anymore. The guacamole was terrible I've never had any that bad.
