Do NOT get the fish tacos!!! Supposedly the waiters favorite dish there lol. First off they didn't add any of the toppings. It's was a nasty tasting fish and cabbage and soggy corn tortillas that broke because they were dripping wet. No tomatoes, no cilantro, no Cotija cheese per the meal description. I had to ask for the cheese and he tried to charge me $3 lol! Had to tell him I don't think so amigo! The dish did not come out of the kitchen as advertised. Bizarre that this was considered his favorite dish. Pretty nasty to be honest. The only solid meal here would be the enchiladas and burrito. How unfortunate. read more

Yummy yummy Menudo. I'm not sure how relevant this review will be because I've only been here once and I only had a soup dish. I was craving some Menudo, and found this restaurant on yelp. There's quite a bit of seating when I came it was pretty empty with only one or two tables. Service is great, very friendly and attentive. Now onto the Menudo... It was delicious! I finished a whole bowl which is quite a large serving for lunch. They have a good amount of tripe, hominy and toppings. I saw some of the other dishes that were being served, and they look very good! I would definitely give this place a try out for their other dishes. read more

Visiting from Georgia, came in with my girlfriends and ordered the "Ay Chihuahua", a $20 plate that is misquoted on their online menu which said was $14.99. The steak was inedible, very chewy and was a consensus between the three (3) people in the group of the six (6) that ordered it. The server was very reluctant to fix the issue, the solution was to bring us a thin piece of steak and charge the original price of the "Ay Chihuahua". Maybe that's why they call it "Ay Chihuahua" since that's what they gonna charge you no matter the price and quality. The replacement steak was okay, but not what we ordered and definitely not worth $20. We were there to have a good time,therefore did not want to push it further and cause any issues to ruin the outing. What a disappointment, do not come here and support this business. Plenty of other Mexican restaurants to go to. Try El Mirador in Pasco, WA great food and service. read more

The steak itself was good. The beans weren't anything special. The tortillas were thick and cold. The fajita burrito had 4 bits of chicken in it and wasn't tasty either. Watch out for this restaurant in Kennewick if you're ever trying to do anything other than order a mediocre michelada. They like to charge different rates for private rooms , tell people they have to pay cash only after they've already booked and then lie about it later. This is a nice Mexican restaurant, affordable, good taste, portions, music, decorations etc . You won't be disappointed but they can certainly upgrade the dishes with a bit more spices, but again I am Mexican so I can tell the difference. I wish they had fish ceviche. Food was fantastic. Loved that the free chips came with both salsa AND bean dip. I had a vegetarian plate of enchiladas (spinach, onion, tomato, garlic and cheese.) It also came with black beans and rice. I left very full and with a snack for later. Service was spotty -- there was only one server for the entire floor, and she was overwhelmed. Good food but not the nicest when it came to customer service. I was greeted by a female who seemed annoyed that I was there. When I informed her that I would like to take my order to go, she told me that a gentleman taking orders at tables at the time would take my order and she then just walked away. When the gentleman finally arrived at the kiosk he seemed highly overwhelmed and a bit agitated. Other staff seemed friendly, as they smiled at me. Not sure if I came at a bad time but good customer service should always have a kind greeting which also lacked during this experience (nobody was available to greet people). We wanted to support a local restaurant, and El Chapala is near our house so we looked forward to giving them a try for a family dinner. It looked packed when we pulled up, which we thought was a great sign, but we quickly realized that many of the cars must have been employees because we were one of four families/couples inside. We ordered steak fajitas, a Chapala burrito, and a couple of kids meals, which did arrive very quickly and we were surprised by the affordable menu. Unfortunately those were the only highlights of the night. On the first bite into the seafood burrito it was obvious that the shrimp hadn't been washed (very pungent and almost metallic flavor when it hasn't been rinsed). I tried to get past it but it was far from enjoyable, so I just stuck to the rice and beans instead. My husband was disappointed with the lack of flavor and over-cooking on his fajitas as well. It stinks when you're excited for a meal out, only to realize that you could have made something twice as good and for half the price at home. At this point the other three tables had left, so we were the only ones remaining in the restaurant, and the servers never stopped by again. We were out of drinks shortly after our meal arrived, and had looked forward to ordering churros for dessert. After sitting there completely alone for a good amount of time, my husband mentioned that we would be buying ice cream for home rather than give another dollar to this place, which I happily agreed. Another 5-10 minutes passed after that and my husband and kids went to the car while I walked up to the front just to pay. The server walked out of the kitchen to ring me up only after hearing the bell on the front door; he didn't ask how the meal was (probably knowing that he just provided garbage service), and I lined right through the tip section. We're the customers that never complain. The ones that pick up after themselves and annoyingly say "thank you" every time the waiter brings or asks us anything. We're easy-going and look forward to the rare occasions that we eat a meal in town as a family rather than cook at home. But this was such a disappointment that I felt the need to warn others. More than just a disappointment, it was that kind of crappy service that you and your spouse talk about years later! Save yourself the money and stop absolutely anywhere else! read more

Maybe lunch hour service just isn't their thing but don't expect to be checked on after you get your food. It's typical Americanized Mexican food, nothing that leaves you wowed by any means. The enchiladas are smothered in sauce which is great if that's your thing. The ceviche is ok but the avocado that was cut up in it looked a bit bruised and old. I doubt I'll be back. If you want good Mexican food, this is the place! I've eaten there several times through the years, and never once have I been disappointed. I like my salsa hot with my chips, and they have the best I've had in the area. They make it themselves and actually win prizes with it. Their shrimp ceviche is excellent, their mole dinners are to die for. The staff is friendly, courteous, and fun. Their margaritas are excellent. Their prices are reasonable. For what more can one ask. This restaurant is casual, and kids are welcome. They have a large banquet room, if you're in need of one. During the week, they have a taco buffet that always looks wonderful, and some day I'm going to try (they guys who come in and eat from it say it's excellent). Best Mexican food in the area! This is a great place! They have a dish called carne tampenquinia(sp). It is beef in a sauce with jalapeños. It is a bit spicy but not too much and it is very good. I always get it. Sometimes I get something else and then have my wife order it, so I can have some. They have 32 oz beers for $6.50. Good chips and salsa and very attentive wait staff. read more
