Its small with limited tables. Its definitely not the place to go if you're in a hurry. They're a little disorganized. $10 credit minimum. I was a little disappointed that I wasn't told that they didn't have tamales (which I ordered) until they delivered the rest of the food to the table, rather than letting me know as soon as they figured it out. I really wanted to love this, please, because it's local. The vibe in this please was very strange. There's a lovechair off to the side with two males on their phones. I'm guessing they were the owners. The food was completely covered in the same relish/sauce, which apparently is traditional in Honduras. It's hard to say if the food was good or not since all you tasted was the relish / sauce. Now I'm a big fan of extra sauce, but this was extreme even for my taste. A suggestion to anyone visiting or to the owners of this establishment - Keep the relish / sauce on the side. The dish we ordered with yuca, the yuca, was hard and dry. It definitely needed a longer cooking period in order to tenderize it. I don't see myself revisiting this place. read more

I moved here from Southern California a few months ago and have been craving real authentic Mexican food. Bonus points that this place serves Mexican, Honduran, and Salvadorian food! It was delicious! The 6 of us that went all ordered different plates and then tried each others orders so we got a taste a portion of the menu. We will definitely be back for more! read more

Good food. Nice hot and fresh. Small little place but that's usually where all the love goes into the cooking! My only complaint is the prices do not match when you go to pay. A meal shows 11.99 but when you go to pay, it's 15+ so maybe update the menu because that can be pretty misleading. & I wish they had better drink options! This place is a gem! A lot of people are complaining of the service, but I found the service fantastic. A family owned place, who treats their customers like family. Everyone was so nice and accommodating. We had a 5 adult, 1 child party. The place is small, and they definitely helped to fit us in. The food prices and quality is fantastic. I got the chicken soup, which did not disappoint. The other foods everyone else got were also delicious and abundant. They were kind and super patient with the little toddler we had running around. Very good little restaurant in Wheaton. Placed a phone order on a Sunday at 9:00 and was told the food would be ready in 20 minutes. Arrived to pick up the food and it was ready in less than 5 additional minutes. My first time ever having chicken baleadas! Omg! Delicious! The carne asada came on top of a bed of plantain slices and a yummy slaw which was a surprise but a good one nonetheless. This place has amazing food to offer so I would suggest providing a menu online or a full menu to Yelp. This place is TINY. The lay out is kinda like a diner but 1/4 the size of what you'd expect. It has like 4 tables and a bar. I took up like a whole section of the restaurant alone. I sat down at the bar and was greeted by a lovely woman. She gave me the menu and I asked her if she had any recommendations. She recommended the Carne Asada or the Fajitas. I'm already familiar with those dishes and asked if she had any dishes that other place wouldn't usually have. She recommended the Baleadas. It's a big Honduran styled Breakfast Pupusa. It was pretty damn tasty from it's home made bread to the seasoned steak and the breakfast ingredients, it was like a good home cooked meal. Then putting some Habanero sauce on it? It tasted even better. I'm guessing she recommended the Carne and Fajitas because I was like, American-ish which was understandable. Anyways I told her I was kinda hungry (Even though I just came from Maki Cafe) and she also recommended the, I don't remember what it was called but it was basically a huge dish full of Honduran coleslaw that smothered the fried plantains and had a huge piece of fried chicken under all of it. That plate came out and was HUGE. The plantains weren't really sweet which was great because the coleslaw was. Then the huge fried chicken under the mound of coleslaw was crispy and cooked just right. From cold and sweet to hot and savory, the flavors and textures were great. The service was horrible. The service was so bad I honestly felt like maybe I was a ghost. Maybe they dont like black people? Im not sure but...my black paying patron life did not matter in this restaurant. First and foremost.. I am a bilingual Panamanian sister! And VERY PROUD of it! Siempre Fiel ! When you walk in..there is the POS and menus. So once I entered and grabbed a menu...the lady didnt even as much as smile nor provide any type of greeting. It was very awkward. Her ignoring my entrance and the fact that I grabbed a menu clearly showing I had an interest of dining there..again..was VERY awkward. So Never the less..I sat myself. I noticed the lady's candor and greetings as other fair skinned hispanic/latinos entered. She greeted them. Spoke to them-- in spanish. And was very attentive and welcoming with them. I then thought to myself...okay...maybe she doesnt speak english well..and may feel more comfortable speaking spanish. So I just let that go. UNTILL she started taking others orders and getting them something to drink. It took her a while to come over to me and decide to attempt to serve me. I was truly appalled . I was appalled at the fact that I had to wait several minutes to be given partially chilled water with almost non existent ice water. I was appalled at how I was allowing myself to pay for such in humane service. But I had a true craving for a whole fried fish dinner and had been recommended trying this place by a very nice server at Be Claws next door. So when thr lady finally decided to attend to me I spoke spanish to try and make her feel comfortable?? Again im not sure as to why I was trying to make her feel comfortable but then again...being black in America isnt as easy as one may think these days. So being bilingual and black purposes creative ways at tackling people prejudice. Once I spoke spanish to her she kind of looked at me..like " wtf..I dont need you to speak your textbook spanish to me. That wont alter the service I will provide you with this evening" which again was a very disheartening feeling. Now on to the food... the fries tasted like sweet plantain. And if you eat fried hispanic foods... you kniw the taste of yuca, potatoes, sweet plantain and green banana. And to repeat--my fries tasted like sweet plantain. It was grose. The rice and beans were subpar and not as flavorful as one would truly expect of a restaurant claiming such Honduran/Peruvian pride. The fish had NO SEASONSING. If I order a whole fried fish I am going to expect it to have been marinated. Which brought me to think...how in the hell did they defrost this flavorless fish? What the heck is really going on. Full disclosure: I'm interested in a woman from Honduras and so I might be a little biased towards their food right now. And yeah, that's why i wandered in there. But even with that bias, this place is great. love the diner atmosphere and the baleadas were so good and flavorful that I didn't want to use any hot sauce. And although not from Honduras, the pastales were so very good. I usually don't want rice anywhere near my plate where it can fill me up instead of all the good stuff but the rice in these things was the perfect addition. We drove out of our way from jersey to myrtle beach to stop here because my husband was craving baleadas and the reviews looked good. Food was good. Area was nice and parking not a problem. The only thing that threw me off- was when they brought the check. I thought they had mistakenly charged me for lobster instead of chicken! So far I've had el desayuno típico, baliadas, and pollo con tajadas. All three of the dishes have been very delicious. My only complain is that the pollo con tajadas had more breading on the chicken then meat. I kinda felt like I got cheated off my money because there wasn't enough chicken on the dish. WONDERFUL! I had the baleadas, homemade flour tortillas filled with seasoned steak (much better marinade than fajitas), eggs, a little cheese, avocado, and refried beans. It was delicious. Really, really delicious. My dining partner had the Honduran tacos which were what a flauta dreams of being. Corn tortillas rolled and filled with wonderful seasoned chicken, then fried. On top, a kind of fresh slaw and salsa, then a pinkish sauce. Absolutely delicious. The place is tiny, but the lady working there is a attentive and a quick worker.
