This restaurant was at a summer festival on the north side recently. We ordered quesabirrias from here that were amazing. The consome was very tasty. I even was sipping it after the tacos were gone. read more

Delicious meal at El Campeon Pina Colada in Cicero near Chicago. Very nice and clean atmosphere. Many great vegan options! All the vegan options are clearly labeled on the menu. We ordered their chips and salsa, which was delicious. It tastes like they make their chips fresh! Very flavorful salsas. We ordered the Vegan Chorizo con Papa sandwich and it was very tasty! We ended up ordering a side of rice and beans with the sandwich as well as it doesn't come with the sandwich. We also ordered the Vegan Quesabirria Dinner and it was our favorite entree. Very very flavorful and the rice and beans were great! Lastly we got a mango smoothie, which was fine, but we probably wouldn't get it again. Overall we will for sure be returning and we can't wait to bring our family here to have it again! We are looking forward to exploring more of the vegan menu. Kind service from the staff as well and they were familiar with what was and what wasn't vegan. A+ ! read more

Very impressed with this place! Customer service and food is amazing. I ordered on their app and they had a discount code. The discount applied during check out and then when I went to pay it didn't actually apply. I had submitted the order and immediately called them. The girl who picked up was very kind and apologetic and said she will try to get her manager to help. The manager said there may have been an issue with the third party site and they could not refund me, but he was willing to either give me free drinks or Zelle me the difference. I will admit that on the phone I was a bit frustrated (and hangry), am I am pleasantly surprised how they handled it (and now I admittedly feel a bit guilty!). My boyfriend said thwhen he went in to pick up the food the manager came out to shake his hand and apologize. Lastly....the cherry on top which blew me away...the food was AMAZING. We ordered the vegan quesabiria, vegan tacos, and vegan pambazos and it was all WOW. I am so impressed overall. I really appreciate their customer service and the amazing quality of their food. Will go back again and I will be recommending this place to my friends! read more

Again and again and again the best Quesabirria in Chicago! Maybe in the world. I've had it 1 million times and no one beats El Campeon! Not even close to how good these are. And the consume is fire. Cilantro & onion done & done. I love these things! Such a treat. Thank you read more

El Campeon - Mexican Near Me - Cicero, Illinois

When you are near the Shed Aquarium, Adler Planetarium, and Field Museum and you need a snack or a refreshing drink, you can count on El Campeon, a local Chicago company founded in 1993. In 1999 El Campeon developed what they call their "authentic Piña Colada Acapulco Style." Located on the lawn in front of The Field Museum, El Campeon is a stand that serves tacos, burgers, burritos, fries, hot Doritos and Cheetos with cheese, acai bowls, crepas with nutella, fruit, and whipped cream, and fresh fruit coladas. They even have vegan and vegetarian selections. Prices were pretty reasonable for a place serving such a high concentration of tourists. Before going in to the museum we got the Piña colada pineapple deluxe ($15), served in a pineapple with slices of fruit. It was the perfect delicious refreshment. After walking all over Chicago it was so nice to sit on the museum wall among all of the wildflowers and sip my drink. On the way out we stopped for the $8 refill of the strawberry flavored fresada colada which powered us on to our next destination. read more

After a long morning at the Field Museum my husband and I were walking back to the train during a particularly warm and muggy afternoon when he suggested we get a piña colada at El Campeón. Normally, I avoid little stands outside of tourist attractions because I find them to be pretty lackluster, but we were on vacation and I thought, "What the hell?" Wow, the piña colada was perfectly refreshing for our walk back to the train. I could taste the fresh pineapple and coconut cream which was well balanced and not overly sweet. My only regret is that we didn't spring for the drink to be served in a whole pineapple, which would have really made our trip feel like an escape to a tropical paradise. read more

Delicious Piña coladas. Food is always good nice little spot in Cicero! Nice place to sit and enjoy the drinks

El Campeon is such a great local spot! Growing up right outside Cicero, there were always fantastic Mexican restaurants, but El Campeon has outdone themselves! The meat is seasoned to perfection, cooked perfectly, and tender! I ordered 3 different tacos--Al Pastor, Carne Asada, and Quesabirria. All 3 were juicy and delicious. This is our 4th time visiting them and they have never let us down. If you're in the area, stop on in! The staff is friendly and the space is welcoming to everyone. Highly recommend! read more

Chicago needs more places like this, on my "secret lakefront". Away from the Chads and Trixies of Castaways, ECPC exists on the chill beaches. The ones with families and kids running around. People (me) rolling their bikes thru. A janky little stand (stay home, suburbanites) serving up some fresh bevs (BYO rum) right on the beach. And c'mon . . . pina coladas, what's not to love. I dream I'm back on those gorgeous Cuban beaches . . . read more

The best thing when you want to quench your thirst after the Field Museum and Shedd aquarium. Saw this and it looked like a fun drink to have while strolling through the park. I had the pineapple and my friend had the mango. The pineapple peña colada was definitely better. The only thing missing was some alcohol! Would love to have this by the beach. The booth is small and the menu limited but lovely in warm weather! read more

Literally the best steak arepas I've ever had. Also the piña colada is to die for. 100/10!!!

Excellent Quesabirrias, Papusas and more! Great Churros too! I couldn't recommend it more highly! read more

Only reason it's a 4/5 stars is we thought the pineapple came with rum and it's not an alcoholic drink. I would've liked to see some advertisement before waiting in line for 20 minutes. BUT the steak mini tacos they were selling under the beach tent were 11/10 - I'm from Texas and I'm very picky with my tacos and salsas and this place is now my go to place for steak mini tacos. My mouth is watering thinking of the tacos haha read more

if I can give 0 stars I would. Terrible food service paid 5 bucks per taco just for them to be very small and have 12 pieces of meat. Eat anywhere else but here. read more

Great place to pick up nice cool drinks, tacos or even a burger. Location is not too far from Midway.

I often order from here. This establishment not only raised their prices but the quality of food is getting worse by the day. The bag was not sealedand it was delivered by a car full of teenagers getting high. The fries are are old, moldy and hard. Why would any place sell this type of quality. Bread was old and stale read more

GREAT tacos in a cute, fun, clean room! Especially like their taco al pastor. Hope to be back soon.

Nice little neighborhood place. The hours are odd so you have to check if they are open. I think they close mon-wed. I found this place looking for queso birria tacos. For $15 you get 4 decent sized tacos with the consommé. Great meaty tacos, I'm a big guy and I usually could knock out 8-10 tacos. I could only eat 6 here. The guacamole was big enough for me and my buddy. They have a juice bar inside and we ordered off of the server's recommendation. She recommended a pineapple drink and it was solid. We ended up getting a second order of drinks for the road. They don't have parking but you should be able to find something across the street. Place is clean and the cook wore gloves. I appreciate when a place is clean and people are wearing gloves. The waitress/server was very helpful and had great recommendations. She was easy to talk to since I don't speak Spanish. There was a bunch of online orders and takeout which in my opinion is good. That means there's no old food, they sell it all and buy fresh. Bathrooms were clean. I noticed the table next to me ordered a latte and seen they had an espresso machine. I haven't tried the coffee so I can't talk about the quality. Just that they have an espresso machine. I like this place a lot. Very friendly staff, great food and great amount of food for the price. Looking forward to my next visit. Thank you. read more

Saw signs all over the park advertising Pina Coladas, which attracted me like a moth to a flame. They have various sizes at different price points, and an associated fee if you bring your cup back and want a refill. They have a couple of flavors you can choose from, like strawberry, but I came for the traditional pineapple. The person before me had ordered a strawberry, and that was what was on the blender at the moment. I was all prepped to watch the guy blend up my "fresh" drink, but was pretty surprised to note that he just grabbed a container from in a fridge and directly poured it into my cup. Thus, if you're looking for a true "frozen" drink - look elsewhere. You may not be getting something completely "fresh" either. That being said, the flavor was very good, quite excellent for a non alcoholic pina colada... I just missed the texture and the frozen temperature that would have been present if the drink had been blended with ice upon order. read more

I love a good tropical drink on a beach and these guys make the best piña colada I've ever had. They definitely earned their name "the piña colada champions" (translation). Overall I give this place 4.5 stars out of 5. The only negative is that it's definitely on the expensive side for not having alcohol in it. I would expect to pay the $12 per pineapple Delux if it had alcohol in it (which they can't legally do). I want to bring some tequila in a backpack and pour some in. Either way, great pineapple drinks!!! read more

This place is not only delicious, but their customer service is outstanding! I got the carne asada quesadilla and the meat was so juicy and seasoned so well. My boyfriend got the pambazo and he loved it too. We did not try the piña coladas but we did try their horchata and agua de jamaica and they were also tasty. The girl was so nice and let us try the arroz con leche empanada and although I was really full I'm glad I tried it I'm definitely coming back! read more

This place may have fresh drinks and a great view, but the maintenance around this prime managed and cared for. This table in front of the stand "on the beach" has nails and screws, and shattered wood leading all over. I'm disappointed and I hope more people publish their distaste. read more
