When I asked if we could take an adjacent table with four normal chairs, we were told it was for six persons (because it also had two extra "seats" on the heating). Again, the bar was almost empty. I understand, as a bar owner, you don't want duos occupying tables for four or more, but this was ridiculous. There are plenty of more friendly bars around this one where waiters don't give you an attitude or tell you off. Best to avoid.

I knew I had to come check this place out as soon as we made plans to vacation in Berlin. We made reservations for an evening (though was probably not necessary on a weeknight as there were plenty of open tables) and were offered seating right away when we arrived. We chose to sit at the bar because I love watching bartenders, especially at craft cocktail places, work and create the cocktails. The bartenders (two of them there that night) were amazing! They guided us through their menu (which changes every week) and how they use all local ingredients for all of their drinks. I was already super impressed. My husband and I both had two drinks each and it was all sublime - they definitely know what they are doing here and clearly take a lot of pride in their work. In addition to creating delicious cocktails, we had such a good time just making conversation with the bartenders. We got to learn more about Berlin, their ingredients, and how they create what they put on the menus. They even offered a little sample of a liqueur that piqued my interested, which was unexpected but so so nice of them! At the end, they also offered for us all to do a shot together on the house which, again, was very unexpected. It's definitely an experience I will remember and hope to come back to one day!

It's a German regional specialty topped with the most delicious things you can imagine. Take the S-Bahn 41 or 42 to Sonnenallee. It's right across the street from the station. On my way to get a drink at a neighboring bar, I saw this place and decided to sit in their cofy vintage furniture outside with a beer. Honestly, the place looks exactly like 3 or 4 other bars that have cropped up in Boddinstrasse: random furniture from the nearest Flohmarkt, just one Pilsner on tap, a shabby paint job and bartenders that are sweet and almost too relaxed. Some people get really annoyed by these type of Berlin bars and frown down upon these sorts of establishments. Personally, I actually enjoy them, especially when comparing them with the type of sterile bars popping up in Mitte. Everything is nicely understated and the atmosphere is condusive for a nice chat with a group of friends around some cheap beers. After all - what more do you really need? They seem to have some freshly-squeezed lemonade on the menu, but I will have to come back another time to give it a shot.
